I'll be honest, I had never heard of Carbon Health, but I needed a quick visit and found them…read morein-network on my insurance provider's website. I booked an appt for the very next morning online and got there right as they opened for my 9 am visit. There were 2 other folks in line before me who had times after mine (9:15 am), but I'm not gonna hate on them for being more punctual. So, just something to keep in mind if you like being on time. Stormy at the front desk was super nice and welcoming, too. Overall, this was an efficient visit. I don't think I waited longer than 10 mins in the lobby before I was called back for vitals. There was some time between that and actually talking to the physician, but not that long. I felt the staff were professional and cared. I was in and out of there in under an hour. After my visit was done, Stormy let me know there are other locations where I'm from in TX, so that was definitely good to know for future use. I know some reviews have mentioned shady business as far as charges go, but I can't speak to that. I was happy to see my copay was only $25. I'd say overall, it was good quality care for the experience.

I came in after a sports injury with what turned out to be a complete Achilles tendon rupture,…read moreconfirmed by MRI three days later. At my visit to Carbon Care, however, the PA diagnosed me with a partial calf muscle strain and confidently ruled out an Achilles injury without performing the Thompson test, which I found out is the standard clinical test for this exact injury. I was told to follow up in two weeks with no imaging ordered. I want to be fair, the staff was kind and the PA wasn't dismissive. However, if you're not an expert in something, it's also okay, and I believe your medical responsibility, to say you're not the expert and refer me to one. The missed diagnosis meant I left without the correct treatment plan for a serious injury, and I only got clarity by seeking a second opinion the next day. If you come in with a suspected Achilles injury, especially after a pop during push-off, I'd encourage you to ask specifically whether the Thompson test has been performed and push for immediate imaging to confirm. Don't let two weeks pass before finding out. Fortunately I had some strong advocates in my corner to push for a second opinion.

I did not have a good experience with the walk-in clinic. The receptionist asked me why I was…read morethere. i told her I think I have a deep vein thrombosis in my leg. She said she'd never heard of that. I told her the abbreviation is DVT. She telephoned someone behind the wall but did not get an answer. So, she left to ask the practitioner about DVT. After a few minutes she returned and said I should go to the emergency room. No ultrasound could be performed at their office. I told her DVT is my best guess but I had come to the walk-in clinic so that a health care provider could tell me what was wrong. I was dismissed without the benefit of an examination and told to seek medical attention in a setting that would be far more expensive for me and a waste of hospital resources. If I am supposed to engage in self-diagnose then they should have taken my advice and written a prescription for a blood thinner. I won't waste my time a second time.

St. Luke's Internal Medicine has been my primary medical care provider for over a decade. I did…read morechange doctors within the group once, in 2002, due difficulty in getting in to see my original doctor. I've been happy with my care there ever since. All of the staff are friendly and cheerful, making the visits less stressful than they might be otherwise. The lab is on site so you can get that taken care of without going anywhere else, and if you need an x-ray that's in the same building too. In fact just about any specialist you might get referred to will be found in that or the adjacent building. My visits with my doctor are thorough and I feel like he spends more time with me than other doctors I have had. I feel like I get very good care. They take most major insurance plans. My company changes insurance providers frequently and so far I haven't had a problem. The time you spend waiting is kept to a minimum. You are usually called in within minutes of your appointment time and once in the exam room rarely wait more than a couple of minutes. The rare times the wait has long, it's been because my doctor was tending to an unexpected medical emergency with another patient. One other plus? Since it's an Internal medicine group, the very spacious waiting room contains only adults. You will not encounter sick kids running all about coughing and sneezing on everything.
