My son struggled with his digestive issues for a while. He was seen by another Gastroenterologist's office but between them not having any availability, not being to help and my son having to go to Emergency center just to get some help, I decided to search for another Gastro doctor. We showed up at doctor Stein's office this afternoon after waiting several weeks for the appointment just to be kicked out due to the reason of "doctor Stein doesn't split patients with any other doctor" and our reasoning why we were there didn't matter. I thought the medical professionals have to take an oath where they would "do our best to serve humanity - caring for the sick, promoting good health and alleviating pain and suffering"? Called to make an appointment after finding this provider through my insurances website. They refuse to see anyone in Brazoria County, however I DO NOT live in Brazoria County I live in Fort Bend County, but because their system is incorrect I was denied an appointment. Extremely frustrating, however I will take this as a sign if something as simple as county lines was confusing to them. After reading another Yelpers review regarding the staff, I'm glad I didn't make that appointment. read more

Stay away from Stanley Stein unless you can endure lecherous learing and insults. Before Dr. Stein will perform a routine colonoscopy, he requires an office visit where you are commanded to remove your panties and your shirt for a rectal exam. Having had over 8 colonoscopies with 3 different gastroenterologists over the years, I questioned the necessity of conducting a preliminary rectal exam. With his head almost bursting with ego, he exploded and erroneously stated that no facility would allow him to bring a patient for a procedure without doing him examining the anus ( strange that females also required to be shirtless during the exam). When I explained that no other doctor had made you go thru that twice, he said, "I guess it's not going to work out between us and you need to go back to what's her face. I couldn't run out of his office fast enough. When I contacted a former hospital CEO who had been a patient as well, he had the same abusive experience - and also never returned! read more

6 years ago, after months of constant testing, seeing doctor to doctor, getting Ill to the extent that I was so dehydrated I couldn't walk or stay awake, I went to see Dr Stein. After a thorough assessment and a colonoscopy, he diagnosed me without a doubt. Since then, I have had my symptoms under control, I stopped losing weight, and I am back to my old self living life to its fullest. There has been two times now that they have helped me out when I needed them to, and this last time really caught me by surprise. I'm not going to go into detail for personal reasons, but the PA, administration, and stein himself do care and they've proven it to me yet again. I'm not sure why he hasn't gotten a review, but he deserves it, I would recommend him to anyone else around the Sugarland area if you are experiencing GI issues. They are fast, they are polite, and Dr Stein is the one that was finally able to piece together what I was experiencing and treat it. read more

Well I'll start off by saying Dr. Stein as a doctor is wholly competant and very skilled. However, from the start my experience with his office has been a straight nightmare. Background- I'm 30 and having sudden GI issues, mostly very VERY painful "attacks" that leave me crumpled in pain and unable to drive/work/function for short periods of time. I made an appointment with Dr. Stein to try and get some solutions. When I made the appointment the clerk did mention they had the new appointment forms online and to fill them out and fax them in. I don't have a fax, nor do I know anyone that has access to one, and I definitely don't have time to go to a fedex to fax. So I filled them out, went to my first appointment half an hour early only to be chewed put by the front desk woman for not faxing in advance. She then informed me they'd be leaving me voicemails asking for the fax. I don't use or check voicemail and when I told them that they were very rude about it. I then asked if it was a requirement why wasn't it listed on the website where I printed the forms from? She then told me it's not required but the doctor didn't like "extracting information from patients". So the doctor doesn't want to talk to me about my symptoms??? I asked if it was going to be an issue and they said no. When I was taken back, the doctors assistant then asked me again why I don't answer my voicemail. Again I repeated I work a lot where I can't have my phone. I can best be reached by email or, if they have the capability (and I don't expect places to) text. She didn't say anything in response just left. The rest of the appointment went fine--- Dr. Stein himself is not very personable, so don't expect him to deliver you bad news then comfort you. I left with way more questions than answers, but I expected that. I didn't expect the office to be stuck in the 90s in terms of technology or the staff to be so rude and unaccomadating. Anyway, they instructed me to have an ultrasound and get some lab work done, so I did that and called back about a week later (today) and was chewed out YET AGAIN for not answering voicemail (I'm disabling the stupid thing today). Apparently Shreya (the assistant ) scheduled me for testing today without telling me, just left me voicemails telling me to come in on a FRIDAY (I work a competitive business that gets most of our income thurs-sunday) and then was livid when I didn't show up because I didn't know. I tried to explain but she cut me off and just repeated that she's been calling me all week. I'm in a lot of pain already. It's very scary not knowing what's going on with your own body. I think I can find a doctor out there that can at least pretend to be concerned with my well being instead of someone's access to a damn fax machine (which, by the way, you WILL lose business from if you guys don't at least get an email address, if you haven't already it's coming). No contact form or email listed on their site. Anyway, if you are not into fax or voicemail do not go here because they will have an absolute conniption! read more

My husband was recommended to this doctor for his Crohn's disease. My husband is extremely respectful and kind and is not mean WHAT SO EVER. His appointment was at 1:30, he got there early and checked in, he waited in the waiting room for an HOUR AND FIFTEEN minutes. Mind you, we live in the woodlands area, so he drove over an hour to get there. Took off half a day from work. He went up to the desk to ask if it normally takes this long to go back and that his appt was at 1:30. They then took him back and the nurse mentioned something to the doctor about my husband asking if it takes this long to be seen typically. Dr. Stein's response was "I'm trying to get everyone in and out because of the pandemic, but I didn't mean to waste your time." Handed my husband his medical records and told him to find another doctor. This is extremely disheartening considering how nice of a man my husband is, and because we were so excited to finally find a doctor that could possibly help him with his disease. This doctor is extremely unprofessional and does not care apparently. I am literally in tears because I'm so hurt for my husband. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. read more

Dr. Stein was recommended to me by my breast cancer surgeon. I was surprised how quickly I got in and was able to schedule a colonoscopy 6 days later. From the beginning the receptionist explained the online forms and asked me to fax them in. It made the initial appointment go quickly. I could tell the MA and Dr. Stein had reviewed them and were able to assess my medical history. I asked a few questions and he gave me a little education. No, he's not very personable, but I'm not looking for that. I want a doctor who is knowledgeable and can take care of me. When I left I had clear instructions on my upcoming procedure. After the procedure Dr. Stein explained what he saw with great detail to my husband. He was very professional and matter of fact, but without causing concern. If you're looking for a doctor that is good at what he does and will answer your questions, you will like him. He's well respected in the field. Just don't expect warm and fuzzy. read more
