Have played this course a lot this summer. It's is great to be able to get out in the morning for a quick nine holes. They can do this because they have 27 holes in total. The people have been very nice to me and help to team me up when I go over there solo. The course is in superb condition. The carts are spiffy and have good on board course computers. Ball washers, yardage markers, green flags indicating front, middle, back. Excellent driving range and very nice restaurant with open patio. Prices are on the low end especially for this level of quality. read more

Well maintained golf course. Pace of play was well spaced as the course was packed. The course is not overly difficult but has an interesting challenge throughout. read more

Slightly overpriced. For the type of course it is, they should have twilight prices but they don't. It's $25 for 9 walking and more on the weekend. If it was even $20 it would be more worth it read more

Saturday 5/3 ,I was playing 18 holes and started raining when I was on the 8th hole, everyone when inside to get a rain check the front desk guy told the he can't do anything because the receipt was wet and can't read,I showed him my tee time and credit card charge,Which he told me to call the next day because the manager will be there, when I called the next day they didn't even let me talk their answer was we can't do anything .for a person that plays a least 3 times a week there ,it was really disappointing the way I was treated, read more

Every single negative review on here is probably because these people had a terrible round of golf and can't accept the reality that they just suck. It's not Stanley's fault you duffed every single ball you didn't shank. Course is in fantastic condition and if you're complaining about price, you're delusional and should check out public courses across the rest of the country. read more

Starter is an asshole, rangemasters constantly bother you and track you down, god forbid you want to wear sandals theyll give you an earfull about that. Course is very confusing. 10/10 Do not recomend read more

Great facility, very well-maintained for municipal golf course, 27 holes pitching and putting areas nice driving range great restaurant and bar. Friendly staff highly recommend this great public course. read more

We had an awful time at this golf course yesterday and would not recommend it to anyone. My father, my son, and I were hoping to have a nice relaxing bonding experience and it turned into a horrible time because of one incredibly rude employee. We basically had the same experience that Andrew P. did below in 2022. The only difference is there was nobody behind us we were holding up. Twice this employee who seemed to be on a major power trip drove up to us and said we had to keep up with the group ahead of us. They were using two golf carts and we were walking. They were about two holes ahead of us. How exactly should we keep up with them? The second time he told us we needed to skip holes or he was going to have to ask us to leave the course. Again, there was nobody even close to being behind us. He ended up kicking us off the course before we finished the fourth hole. We would have easily been done in two hours, but this guy seemed to need to continually harass us an ruin our time. Never, ever will they see a cent of our money again. read more

What a surprise! This course (white to red) was awesome. I've played many courses in CT and had never played here. It was a perfect May day and the course is in excellent shape. My partners commented "this feels like a private club". The course was crowded yet the pace of play was amazing. (Probably due to Corona virus spacing of tee times). Foursome in under four hours on a Saturday. I will be back. read more

Stanley Golf Course - Golf Near Me - New Britain, Connecticut

Course is in good condition, people are nice. The cost is a lot for a public course in my opinion but nice chipping green and practice range

Courses are well maintained. That is all I will say nice about this place. Staff in general are not very nice. Had a tee time and found a range ball which I hit from the driving range. Of course the "player assistant" had to give me a "friendly" reminder not to hit my own golf balls. Really, that big of a f-ing deal, Stanley? Not going back, you lost a regular customer. read more

The course was maintained well and fun to play but the staff was unnecessarily rude. COVID regulations were not enforced. I frequent the practice range which I can say is good considering the affordability of a bucket. Although, as a left handed golfer, few of the practice bays have tees on the left side. read more

I will never golf here again. We called to schedule a t-time and were told there were none needed. We show up and the starter sends us on the white course. There is people on the fairway so we wait to t off. The starter yells at us to play, quote, "Hit the ball already!!". So we hit and yell fore because we hit in the middle of the group before us in the middle of the fairway. We then waited at each hole because it was super busy, which was no big deal. The next issue was an employee was watching us t off, again no big deal. But he pulled up and gave us a hard time complaining that we're slow. Again we had been waiting for the people in front of us, who were waiting for the people in front of them at every t box, sometimes 2 groups deep. The employee asked for our "ticket" meaning receipt and was just a general jerk to us. We show him our receipt and he continued to be a jerk and hassle us about being slow. Asking us which one of our group is "hacking" it up. (If being "slow" is an issue then you should have your starter control the flow better instead of yelling at us to t off on top of the group in front of us. The group behind me told me the blue course was wide open but they sent everyone on the white course.) After leaving us I asked the group ahead of us if the employee talked to them and he didn't say a word to them. I ended up not playing this hole because he yelled at us for so long that a line formed at the t box. I will never golf here again, and will tell everyone I golf with to never golf here. Complete waste of money and crap shoot. The only positive is the course was well maintained and the cart girl was super friendly read more

A lot has changed now that I've been a "regular" for the past year. Pardon my language, but I am just beyond sick of being treated like an asshole on a constant basis. I think it's time for a complete list of struck nerves. - I'm a resident of New Britain, which means I'm eligible for a yearly discount card. My first visit this year was on Easter Sunday and I [understandably] only had a short period of time to get 9 holes in... the guy unwaveringly demands that my driver's license is not enough to complete the application, and can't possibly offer me the resident rate. "I'm sorry, it's above me" he callously declares. "I need to see an electric bill or something." Bullcrap. Jesus who hath died for your sins has risen, and you can't give me six bucks off a half a round of golf in late March? Unbelievable. -Every time I show up as a single (which is often), the starters fret at me like I'm an inconvenience to humanity. They hem and haw until they reluctantly put me on one of the courses. Additionally: - No singles on weekends. - No twilight rate (most golf courses feature this.) - No tee times after 3PM [but when I show up after 3PM there's a 45 minute wait.] - The range is entirely too expensive, and the credit card device fails constantly. - The greens were cut in APRIL, and are now running impossibly fast as of the writing of this review. Yeah, I'll be back...but that's because I practically live across the street. Nevertheless I assure you, the rate at which I put up with this elite level of nonsense will be severely reduced. read more

I golf easily over 125 rounds a year. I play most every course within 60 miles of my home and I travel 3 times a year to golf in other areas of the country. My review can't be any more point on then it will be. I golf at Stanley often based on location. I always pay full price even when I know I can buy the local in town resident membership for less because I don't mind paying. What I cant at all get over with this facility is why and how poorly the staff treats the customers not even to mention the loyal customers. They make you feel like your bothering them. They never smile, never even ask how your day is going. Nothing. Always rude, always acting like the customers don't matter. I could write a review that's a day long if I wanted to. 1. Terrible customer service 2. Terrible $ rates for the overall course 3. Pace of play is never even addressed by "rangers" 4. The more you play here the worse they treat you 5. Out of every course I play a year combined as a whole this place is worse then the combined others when it comes to negatives. 6. The course itself is decent. I would say 1-10 it's a 7 but before you even tee off your in a bad mood based on how things go from the pro shop to the 1st tee. read more

Had such a great experience here on Sunday June 6th. Grounds were very well manicured and the pro shop was very nice. I have to give the best compliment to Ron the Course Ranger. I left my phone on a tee box and every player after us missed it. He was quickly able to find it so I didn't have to disrupt play for everyone behind me. He was so polite and helpful. People like Ron make it easy to decide where to return to play golf. Thank you and see you soon! read more

Awesome public golf course, the staff is fantastic and the renovation on the red course is designed great. read more

See all

Played the course for the first time and it will be the last. The starter and pro shop staff was rude and not accommodating at all. Play was horrendous. The course was in decent shape but the greens were awful. Not worth the price I paid. In fact it's overpriced. read more

Good course, definitely a go-to when you're not looking to overspend at somewhere like Tradition or Lyman. Well kept, good mix of difficulty and fun. The pros and starters are a bit off key with each other, have made a few tee times only to get there and have the starter not know about it. I advise trying to go white or blue, I don't like playing red when I go, but thats just personal opinion. read more

Jason M is a retard. This place is awesome. This guy is some wannabe douchebag that gets invited to nice places from his boyfriends parents and thinks he's awesome for complaining about them. What a loser. read more

Fun local place, gets crowded, decent condition for the amount of traffic, not a destination for golf travelers. Facilities too small for events they host - they really need to do something about this as a good chunk of their business is local fundraisers. read more

I just started taking private lessons here with their pro, Kyle. So far everything has been great! Clean facilities, plenty of parking, friendly staff. I will have to update once I play the course. read more

The course is usually in good shape, and the driving range is nice. The Pro Kyle is not the friendliest person in the world, and the wait time to get out and play is usually pretty long. With the construction going on the course it makes it a lot more crowded. With so many other golf options in this area, I tend to stay away from Stanley. read more

Fairly well rounded practice facility. The new red 9 is interesting and I actually like it more than the old red 9. Mini flag on the pins that are supposed to indicate front, middle and back are often wrong. Greens are lush and rolling well. I find them hard to read. Slower than rockledge, smoother than timberline. Unfortunately, a good deal of ball marks go unrepaired. Course traffic is often heavy. Picking the right time for any given day is essential or you could be in for a very long round. read more

First of payed full price at 4:30pm for 18 holes, no discounted rate. Played 16, pace of play is very slow, starter checked our receipts before we played and when making the turn then gave us a hard time one member out of our group didn't have his. Course is in good condition and restaurant is awesome. read more

Really no stars. Mean staff, overbooked tee times, course in terrible condition. Will NEVER come back.

Beautiful well kept course that they keep dry! $51 for 18 w a cart on a busy Saturday afternoon. Not bad! Beer girl is always around. Carts are electric with GPS. read more

If your looking to go to a golf clinic, do not hire Fran. He had a terrible attitude from the beginning. Did not want to be bothered by us. Actually said 'I need to know what you girls want out of this...are you just fooling around or what?' That was at our second lesson. We hired him at $99 per person for 4 lessons but only had 2. He cancelled one and said he'd reschedule. He never did. I do not recommend him as a teacher. I heard there's a better one there, Kyle, but we never met him. Never got refunded either. read more

This place is terrible. They say the driving range is open until 9pm but they always find a way to close early. Called ahead tonight to make sure the course was open. The proshop said they were open until 9. Pulled up at 8pm and the range was closed. The course is also in horrible shape and the staff is very unfriendly. Won't be going back anymore. read more
