I requested for a quote last weekend. A few business days go by and yesterday (Wednesday), I got an email from a lady at Standard (Rachel S.). She basically gave me a quote, which was $9 cheaper per month than Geico. I emailed her back, asking her to call me. She finally did.
I did some research on STANDARD INSURANCE and was actually informed of Standard by my hair stylist. SHe was in an accident with another driver recently and that driver had STANDARD Insurance. It has been 2.5 weeks and Standard Insurance is apparently dragging their feet and causing major hold ups - So I did research, read reviews, etc and saw that many others were having similar issues... This can be a nightmare when your car is totaled or damaged. Timing is everything and so is Customer Service.
SO: She called me back yesterday and she did not act happy and enthusiastic about answering my questions. She wasn't rude by any means but I could just tell she wasn't friendly or happy at all. With that, I decided to read a little more on Standard Ins. and I told her I would call her back before proceeding. Well, An hour later, I called her back due to my decision to proceed with leaving Geico and coming aboard Standard. But, I wanted to run a little test, because to me: CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVERYTHING and I choose "ALL" of the companies I do business with, based 90% on customer service and 10% being the DEAL or Price, Quality, etc..
So, the test... I saw that there was a $40 Administration fee to come aboard Standard Insurance. I started the paperwork with her - she emailed it to me. I emailed her back about staying with Geico due to the $40 fee to get started to see if she would explain, or communicate or waive that fee as a good gesture... Hours go by and this morning I get an automated email: "VOIDED APPLICATION FORM."
No response to my email, nothing. Just an automated response that the system at STANDARD generated and emailed me.
Let me tell you something: I am so glad that I run these types of tests on companies. If I call a company and the agent is not friendly, or they don't go out of their way to appease you in some way (Even LITTLE ways), I do not conduct business with them.... BUT COULD YOU IMAGINE if I went aboard and needed to file a claim (God Forbid).... Holy Crap... Or, what if they just raise rates, etc, which happens in the Insurance world... THe customer service at this company is not good... And THANKFULLY FOR ME: DISASTER AVOIDED... Staying with GEICO! read more
