Adventures in Whitewater is a great company with great employees!…read more My girlfriend and I went on the Colorado River (Class II to III) rafting trip and had a great time. This was the only option available because it was September and water levels were too low for the other higher class trips. Regardless, we had a blast and our guide Keagan was amazing. After checking in at the office, it was about a 20-25 minute van ride to the launch site. After going through safety instructions, we were on our way down the river. It was a really mellow section with very little actual "whitewater rafting", and more of a float. Keagan was spitting off facts and talking to everyone the whole time which was great. Very informative and personable. Along the way we stopped at a natural hot spring and everyone got out of the rafts and "warmed up" in the warm water. Right after that, we hopped back in the rafts and floated just a little further down to a cliff jumping spot. I can't remember how high it was (approx 40-50ft?) but 5 of us did it. Keagan jumped too, and gave us all instructions on jumping safely. After that the trip wrapped up pretty quickly, loaded everything into the van and headed back. It was a great trip and I'm happy we chose them over some of the larger companies. We always like to support small business when possible. Yes, I would highly recommend using Adventures in Whitewater for your next rafting trip in CO.

This place is absolutely amazing. It's really cool the somewhat new owners Jim and Lauren....about as cool and easy going as it gets. I brought my family of 5, my wife, my 15 year old daughter and my sons 18 and 20....before my new grad heads off to West Point. We looked at some of the cabins, and you can see all the work the new owners have put into them, they look amazing, and a lot have been re-decorated. It's a very cool rustic. My wife and daughter loved the gift shop and the cool shirts. The guide Jeremy took us out, and my wife does not like the water, and he kept her pretty happy in the middle with the gear. We got out and saw some historical 1840's old cabin and other stuff, was completely awesome! We will be getting back there as soon as we can, the views driving in and out of there are almost worth the drive. They had a great little adult beverage store, pretty awesome to have out in the middle of nowhere...with no cell coverage which I loved....no work calls ,ha. Pretty family friendly, and the little wedding event setup looked cool.

When we called Joseph, he was very friendly and offered to take us that same day even though we were only a party of two. The price was about $68 per person which is very competitive. When coming, make sure to put in the directions before you reach Radium because there's no service for about the last 30 minutes. The rafting was a lot of fun and the current was strong, so it didn't take the full 2 hours, but he would slow down and stop for us to take pictures, enjoy the scenery, and get more time on the river. After the trip, we even met his donkeys, Pearl and Sparky, on his property! Overall, we highly recommend!! Definitely come here if you'd like to support smaller, local businesses and get a more personal experience!

This company set my wife and I up with an overnight float experience - I have nothing to complain about the experience itself. We had a great time. Great guide, smooth process. The price we were quoted was extremely high but it was our anniversary and we assumed the price would reflect the value of services rendered. In hindsight, bottom line: All things considered, in my opinion, you pay for a Ferrari and get a BMW. The price for what you get is egregiously overpriced even when accounting for how expensive the Vail Valley is these days. I recommend this experience if you are ultra wealthy to the point where cost/value ratio means nothing to you. I don't recommend this trip of you appreciate the concept of value in any way. There is a way to get the same experience with better accommodations for MUCH less: 1. For almost 50% less, stay at the 4 Eagle Ranch down the road for meals and lodging: VERY unique remote glamping experience with classy yet low key tent bar/restaurant on the hillside. Objectively better/more unique food/lodging experience and it's actually massively cheaper! 2. Turn to Co. This past summer was definitely the season of meeting my phobias head on. I have this thing about…read morelive fish- I am deathly afraid of them. Years and years ago, I passed out in my kitchen while preparing whole trout because I thought I saw it twitch and was still alive . I hate Koi fish with a passion and have nightmares about being pushed into a pond writhing with them... My palms are getting sweaty just thinking about it right now. But despite all of this or maybe because of all this sort of nonsense, during a trip to Colorado, I went fly fishing and found out that fishing.. and live fish... aren't that scary. Both are actually sort of fun... and cool. Since I've never been fishing before, I have no point of comparison for an outfitter that specializes in it but based on my experience with them, I'd have to say I was very impressed. Our guide Fletch picked us up from our hotel early in the morning and took us back to the shop so we could sign some waivers, get our 1 day fishing licenses ($9 each), and grab our gear. We headed out to a local fishing hole, put our gear on, got a quick lesson, and were fly fishing in no time. At first I thought it was boring... My arm started hurting from hurling the line continuously and I would gaze off into the distance and lose my train of thought and focus on what I was actually supposed to be doing which was fishing. And it was cold... I think my waders had a hole in it because the front of my jeans were really damp and I kept shivering while I stood waist deep in the water. Things started to get interesting when I could feel the fish biting on my line... From then on I was pretty entranced and intent on landing at least one fish... And I did! I landed two! We kept our guide Fletch busy going back and forth unhooking our fish and taking photos (I had a hard time trying to pick up the fish because I was so scared but it was important for me to document the fact that I actually caught one so I eventually grasped it in both hands...) but it was such a blast and I was actually really disappointed when I realized it was time to head back. We didn't get to keep our fish since all outfitters in the area practice catch and release (from what I was told, eating the fish from those waters wasn't really a good idea any way) but lots of pictures were taken to document the experience. It was a fantastic day and I'm really glad the Fly Fishing Outfitters went to so much trouble to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. 5 stars all the way.
