We would love to go here again because we had a great time, but I would need to have a manager or something sign off on the quote we receive to avoid the big balloon in price that we experienced, that was really hard pill to swallow. Regarding the drastic price change, we called in advance and received a quote for $700 for two 8-person rafts and a shuttle to get us there (screenshot provided). Unfortunately, we were told the morning we all arrived that the quote was incorrect and the shuttle cost was per person and not per shuttle. It also looks like the "Land & River Use Fee" nearly doubled as well, even though we did not change the amount of equipment we were renting. I told the staff that we would move forward with the cost because everyone was already there and they said they would charge us appropriately. They said our two dogs were not allowed in the shuttle, so we had to drive them up separately, but I was told later that dogs were allowed and could have gone in the shuttle. Once we got back down from the river float, we saw the charge was $1036, a 48% increase in cost compared to our quote, I was shocked, and after speaking to the staff there, it looks like we were over charged by the two shuttle costs of the folks who had to driven up, so we ended up in the high 900's, but still much higher than quoted. Overall, I'm happy we got to use the rafts, but I would warn others to speak to a manager when confirming costs and to be prepared for over charges or at least an increase in cost at the end of the trip.

They gave clear instructions and guided us through the waters with such professionalism. They would explain interesting facts about the Shoshone River as we floated along certain parts, also on the bus ride they would explain fun facts along the road. Lunch was provided back on the bus which Kya drove like a champ. Highly recommend for anyone looking to have a thrilling Colorado adventure!

Very good communication and guidance during the sign up process and good information provided prior to arrival. The river experience was excellent. Our guides (Anna and Kaitlyn) were informative and entertaining during our 45 minute ride to the drop in near Glenwood Canyon. Our family felt very safe in their hands and we had a lot of fun on this trip. Anna was a fantastic guide and boat captain. After the excitement of the rapids we spent about another 1.5 hours floating and sometimes swimming. Highly recommend for people who haven't done it before.

I had a blast white water rafting down the Colorado River with Mad Adventures. When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

I say kids because we were the Medicare raft! Dex was our guide - he is nice, polite and very, very helpful. It was our first time rafting and we never felt intimidated or scared. He took great care of us. Schaffer was hysterical and had us all at ease immediately, laughing and joking along the way. The local beer and chips at the end hit the spot for us! I was part of a small group that did a full day trip with Glenwood Canyon Rafting last Saturday…read more Although I'd been canoeing in whitewater rivers many times I hadn't ever been rafting, not sure why it just hadn't worked out. After arriving in the morning we were outfitted with PFD's and helmets, then given a good talk about safety. Next we jumped on a bus headed up Glenwood Canyon to the Shoshone exit, about 10 miles up river from where we started. By far, the best part of the day was the first half hour or so. Lots of action right from the jump, and lots of me wandering why in the hell I hadn't done this before! There was a good deal of paddling to do in that first part, but it was way more fun than effort. Since we only had 5 in our group we were able to go out on the 14 footer instead of one of the bigger 16 foot rafts like the others on our bus. This let us go through a couple things they couldn't, and overall offered a little more exciting ride. After the first bit it was mostly a float trip with only a few spots for paddling. This allowed our great guide Otto to regale us with tales about the river, the area around it, and the people that work on it. Along with a few other choice stories that you'll have to get from him sometime, if you're lucky enough to get him as your guide too. After 10 miles on the river we arrived back to the boathouse and had lunch, which comes with the full day trip. It was WAY better than anyone in our group thought it would be. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and pulled pork with all the fixin's. Water and lemonade were included but if you wanted a pop or a beer they had them available for purchase inside. After lunch it was back on the river for a very chill 7 miles of mostly floating. The only wrinkle we hit was some fairly hard rainfall, which did soak us pretty good but didn't dampen our experience one bit.

There were still some class IIIs that were pretty good. Everyone had a great time and our one first-time rafter felt super safe. I'd recommend these guys for sure.

There is parking, tables, and restrooms at this rest stop. The scenery here is beautiful with the creek running through the mountains. The Grizzly Creek Trail is nearby if you want to do some hiking. It's about 4 miles one way and a little challenging. You can also do some rafting in the creek. Even though it was snowy and cold when I was here, Grizzly Creek still made for some beautiful photos.

To get to Hanging Lake you have to take the Grizzly Creek rest stop exit 121 and turn around to go…read moreeast on I70. I took this as an opportunity to stop and stretch our legs. It's a nice rest stop. Shady, lots of parking. There's a boat dock and we saw some rafters. A nice path to walk and explore. You can walk down to the river's edge and watch the rafters coming downriver. Nice restroom with soda and snack machines in the building. Picnic tables to sit and enjoy a meal at. It was pretty shady so we weren't burning from the sun. I recommend stopping here if you're passing through to rest at. There are also lots of activities you could do here. Biking, hiking and rafting.
