A couple of Saturdays ago, I was heading home from the east end of Toronto. I needed a drugstore and remembered this one and decided to pay it a visit. When driving northbound on Woodbine Avenue, you turn left just before you hit O'Connor Drive to get here. There is plenty of parking in front of SDM. I backed into a spot steps away from the entrance and walked in. At first, this store's layout looks the same as most newer SDMs. You see the beauty boutique first. I looked at all nail polish colours. The variety was great. The vitamins section was nicely organized. There was a sale going on. No complains. Travel items and tech accessories are decent. With the latter, it favours Apple products more, which can be a bit of a downer for Android users. I rarely give any SDM a glorious review, but this store deserves full marks. What sets it apart from others is that it has a mini grocery store. It was my first time experiencing an SDM with fresh produce and more. I wish that Markham had this grocery store subset in any Shoppers. I'd be happy. I reckon that we don't because we don't have a 24-hour SDM. This store is open around the clock. The bread section was awesome. It featured Ace bakery items. I loved the produce section. Everything looked fresh. It was like being in a mini market. I saw T&T bakery goods. They were mainly almond cookies, but I was thrilled to see them. There's even a meat section. Wow! The extra thick-cut bacon was eye-opening. I think of those working rotation shifts and how great this store is for them. I ended up getting a few items: - Armstrong herb garden cheese in stick form - Cucumber Lay's chip - Chicken caesar salad The only weird thing was trying to pay for groceries at the self-checkout. It doesn't work well if you scan the barcode on food. I got an error. Instead, I abandoned the rigidity of scanners for a human being. She was great. I scanned my PC Optimum barcode and then paid with a debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and headed out with my goodies. I had the chicken caesar salad for dinner. I loved that there were separate trays for the lettuce, cheese, croutons, and chicken. You essentially put everything together before you enjoy your salad. It was super fresh. I was impressed. So much for the brief healthy kick. I had half the bag of cucumber Lay's while watching the hockey game a couple of hours later. Delicious! I love cucumbers and to have that subtle flavour captured in chips was brilliant. I ate the rest of the bag the following day. The Armstrong herb garden cheese are sticks that are individually wrapped. I normally don't crave eating cheese on its own, but I love the herbs in this cheese. Delicious! This SDM has a post office. It was doing swift business when I was here. I love this drugstore. I look forward to dropping by again when I'm in the area. (189)

Folks -- you need to check out this SDM again…read more It just had a grand re-opening and they have done some cool things to this SDM. They have come up with a new concept here... and added quite a few "grocery store" features. You can buy Ace Bread, buy fresh vegetables, buy prepped meals and all kinds of other groceries and baked goods. Think of it like a mini-Loblaws. So if you are looking to grab something for dinner on the way home and are near Coxwell and Danforth check out this SDM. Also, it has a take out Tim Horton's! Need I say more!

Bread and milk are especially cheap compared to the IGA and Sun Valley down the street. The aisles can be a bit tight when you have carts and strollers, so keep your wits about you when you make a sharp turn around a corner. You may just take out an infant or two. It's not that they're outright rude--just bored, apparently unhappy, and rather clipped and perfunctory in their transactions. It's a pretty minor issue overall, but it's consistent enough to make me prefer the Guardian a couple stores over if I'm buying something that's not exclusively available at Shoppers.

Hello, I have been…read moregoing to this location for many years. Bessie is always helpful beyond and along side her April Balcita has proven her excellence at this location. I have a double procedure on March 14th, 2025 and when I originally called for my prep, the Dr. office mentioned all instructions would be included with the solution. I called for I could not get in contact with the doctors office and my procedure was on March 14th, 2025. The person who checked for me told me the prescription was ready but there were no instructions. I was very frustrated leaving messages to the doctors office saying, " I did not know where I was going etc" and telling them there was no instructions with the solution. I went today at 7:20 p.m and saw April who was on the phone at 10:04 p.m the SDM closes at 10:00 pm. alone. I was not surprised. I expressed I was upset for I now read the instructions she had given earlier with my solution. It mentioned no solid foods and things you could not consume (tomorrow). If, April did not use her knowledge and print this for me, I would have lost 2 days pay at work, travelled to Humber River Hospital and paid for parking for a procedure which would not have taken place for the mistake that was made by the person prior to when I called SDM. I am very appreciative of April. I had to run to SDM with four minutes before they closed to purchase what I could eat tomorrow with my husband for I cannot carry products due to chronic pain. My husband has to work 12 hours tomorrow. I know at 10:30 have to be up to make jello and the solution and eat for after midnight, I cannot and have not eaten for I was at physio therapy. This location is not on Yelp, or I have not found it, so I leave my review here. Bought a lipstick on sale to match a discontinued lo colour that I'm running out of. It didn't match. So I return to the store for a refund. When I arrive, there are three ladies representing the cosmetic department. They are in a tight circle, chatting away, none facing the entrance. I mosey up to the counter. Finally one of them sees me and comes over. I explain to her that I am looking for a match to my lipstick, and suggest that maybe, after my refund, she can help me find a match. She seems to be following along, as we joke that it's always the way: you find something you like and then it gets discontinued. The phone rings at the counter. One of the other women on staff is right at the counter, and could have / should have answered it, but, no. The woman who was serving ME literally insisted that she "can take it" to the other lady. So, here's lady number 1, with me, now taking the phone call. I am, at this point, incredulous. But it escalates as far as the poor service. As lady 1 is counting my change, handset cradled between her ear and shoulder, I put out my hand for her to put the money into, and - wouldn't you know it? - she puts it on the counter. Of course she does. So I look at her, and think " are you trying to be a jerk, or are you just not that bright?", which is what I say to myself when someone does something I can't comprehend. She continues chatting to whomever is on the phone, and I say to her "that's ok. I'll go find a colour to match my lipstick myself.", and I begin to walk away, feeling completely UNSEEN. As I walk away, she starts to apologize, saying that the call was urgent! I say to her, from about 5 feet, that when you NEED to answer the phone when you're with a customer, you tell that person on the phone that you're with someone and you'll be with them momentarily or that you'll call them back, or you'll get someone to help them. Let me say that I am well aware that there are greater troubles in this world than matching a lipstick. It is the absolute meaninglessness of me as a customer that makes me upset. It is SO easy to be kind and accommodating, and that is what customer service is. I called the store when I got home. I spoke with the manager. He said he was going to speak with the cosmetics manager. But he didn't ask me my name or phone number. So, I guess that's the end of that.

And they have quite a LOT of stuff, more so than most Shoppers I've been to. There is also a post office inside and a post box outside which is quite handy. This is the kind of Shoppers I walk into looking for one thing and coming out with 5 others. It's also quite a beautiful Shoppers. I don't need it to be pretty but it's nice that it is. The staff there is always courteous, and the pharmacy offers (offered?) flu shots as well. The floors have arrows pointing which direction to go in for social distancing purposes which is also good, although I've never found it to be overly crowded in there even though it's a tiny bit cramped product-wise given everything they've stocked! I like.
