I was heading home a few Saturdays ago. I needed a Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). I remembered this one…read morethat I hadn't dropped by in eons. It was time to revisit it. This SDM is on the southeast corner of 16th and Bayview avenues. It's next to a Petro-Canada that I also used to frequent often years ago. I parked steps away from the main entrance. I walked in. This SDM is organized like most of its stores. You get the beauty section first. I needed toothpaste, which was a couple of aisles over. I was pleased that there was a sale on a variety of toothpastes. This store has a post office at the back. I had no idea. I do now! What's interesting about this SDM is that it has a drive-thru pharmacy. At first, I thought it was a drive-thru for Tim Hortons... haha! You can indeed pick up your prescription without leaving your car by heading over to the drive-thru pickup window. I've only experienced pharmacy drive-thrus a handful of times stateside. It was the only way to get COVID-19 tests done at CVS. It was my first time seeing a pharmacy drive-thru in York region and in Canada. My friend at work has been getting a carton of strawberry milk whenever we have lunch on Wednesdays. I saw one-litre cartons of strawberry milk at this drugstore and decided to give it a try. It's surprisingly not as sugary as I had anticipated. It was pretty good for someone who hasn't had some version of it since I was a kid with powdered strawberry Quik. This version wasn't lumpy, which I appreciated. This store has a good selection of Squishmallows. I was pleased. I used the self-checkout kiosk to scan my items. It took no time for me to scan my PC Optimum barcode on my phone and pay with a credit card. There was one human staffer at the checkout. She was dealing with a Chinese couple who were challenging a price on an item. It goes to show you that you still need a human and self-checkout kiosks won't dominate the world. There was plenty of parking when I was here on a Saturday evening. It was nice to return to this SDM after many years. I had a good shopping experience. (201)

EMAIL SENT TO SHOPPERS IN OXFORD PLAZA…read more Hello - I, a person who lives with disabilities, went to your pharmacy today (20240828) in Oxford Plaza and was verbally attacked by an employee of yours, Sheri, the Female Pharmacist. They also attacked another disabled man who had just spent five days in the hospital and was simply trying to get a reimbursement due to being overcharged by your team. We were both treated with no dignity or respect. We were disregarded and not served with respect. We were both told that our business is not needed because "we have enough business as it is, we don't need yours". The man was completely ignored and dismissed with a rude hand motion instead of being helped and help make this trip to the pharmacy barrier-free. I tried to respectfully explain to the pharmacist that the man, who lives with disabilities, had just spent 5 days in the hospital and that he was very tired and exhausted. He did not have the energy to deal with the rude comments and disrespectful service we received. I was told that the man was loud before I got there but he spoke very nicely and calmly to employees and myself, and never insulted anybody. He was frustrated, but aren't we all when services are difficult to access. Especially when it shouldn't be the case. This is a complete violation of Shoppers Drug Marts' policies on Accessibility. People with specific disabilities can indeed be loud at times. The team clearly lacks training dealing with people with disabilities. The treatment we both received is also a violation of provincial, federal and international law. Shame on your team. https://www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/contact-us/accessibility-standard I hope this issue will be addressed for all future clients of yours who live with disabilities. It is NOT the first time I was treated badly by your staff. Since my business is apparently not needed at your pharmacy, as I was told by your pharmacist, I will make sure to find a new pharmacy as soon as possible. I will not bother you any more. Respectfully.

Gupta, the owner, is always willing to answer questions anything related to new medications. I'm getting old. sniff. sniff. So I sometimes have to take prescription medications (because I am also a bad boy). The pharmacists discuss the side effects, how meds should be taken and what should I/not eat with it. On top of that, they are willing to answer all my insane questions about vitamins. Hey... I gotta check if Dr. Oz is telling the truth yeah know. With gazillion questions I've asked them, they probably are wishing that self help books were not invented. Expect to get good advice on your medication here. Not toilet cleaner. But wait, they care about your personal hygiene so there's a good selection of personal care products. But toilet brush? There's Wal-Mart at Major Mackenzie. Peace.

To kill some time, we dropped by this Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) to get some beverages. This plaza is huge. I parked closer to Vin Bon. We then walked over to SDM, which was next door to Value Village. It was pretty easy finding the drinks section. It's on the left side of the store when you are staring at the main entrance. We had to pass by the Valentine's Day merchandise before we got to the drinks section. I loved the punny plushies. Adorable! My friend had mentioned that he loves aloe drinks and he used to get them often when he visited the SDM by York University as an undergraduate. Sure enough, they were at this store. His favourite is the Alo Exposed drink that consists of aloe vera and honey. I went with Alo Comfort, which had aloe vera, watermelon, and peach. I also heard Alo has a sparkling line of drinks. I look forward to trying to find that line next. We both paid using the self-checkout kiosk. I paid with a credit card and scanned my PC Optimum barcode. Done! We went back to my car and chatted while sipping our drinks. There were small chunk of watermelon and peach in my drink. It was delicious and yummy. I was happy that the drink was chilled. My friend enjoyed his drink. He was happy that we stopped by to get drinks. He continued to drink his as I drove him to Finch station after we had visited Vin Bon. It was great dropping by this drugstore. I'd return when I'm back in the area. (52)

Staff throughout the store are generally friendly, though self-checkout is clearly encouraged. The store runs frequent PC Optimum "points multiplier" days, which are great if you time your purchases right. Product selection is decent, with a fair range of essentials and seasonal items. One odd quirk: discount stickers seem to vanish on Fridays, possibly due to restocking or promo resets. Not officially confirmed, but worth noting if you're hunting deals. -Zuk

Afterwards, I needed a Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). For years, this store has been a few stores down from KSP. I finally visited this drugstore. I decided to drive over. I found a prime parking spot in front of the store. I backed into the spot and walked in. I like this SDM more than the one closer to my home. This store has exotic Lay's potato chips. I was thrilled to see them. My local one doesn't have any. I looked at the frozen foods section. It was nice seeing Stouffer's products before it goes away. There were also Pizza Pops, which I like to enjoy now and again. This store has a strong noodle section. You can get at least four different brands of mac and cheese here. You can also get Knorr's noodles in various sauces. I also enjoyed seeing the Squishmallows section. Easter Squishmallows are out. This store had medium and large ones. The lip balm section is also decent. I spent a good chunk of time looking at everything. I used the self-checkout kiosk to pay for my items. There was only one human at the checkout area and it was busy. Luckily, my purchases were straightforward to scan. I'm glad that I finally visited this store. It's a good one. I will return to raid the exotic Lay's section some more. (82)

The pharmacy is located within the Atlas Clinic. Although these two businesses are inseparable,…read morethere is still no proper integration between the clinic and the pharmacy. Something as simple as getting a prescription filled after seeing a physician requires a hardcopy to be printed and brought over to the pharmacy 5 steps away. My previous experience tells me that this step could easily be skipped if the physician sends the prescription directly to the pharmacy. I noticed that the clinic and physician are better integrated with the clinic than vice versa. I had to relay something that the physician said to me about the prescription to the pharmacist that could easily be avoided (and removing potential medical errors!) if the pharmacist talks to the doctor directly. It feels like I have to run back and forth between the doctor and the pharmacist because both sides don't really talk to each other. The pharmacy appears to be well stocked, particularly for travel medication and vaccines (e.g. yellow fever). The prescription was filled at a decent speed but the pharmacist was clearly overworked. I think the pharmacy owner knows this, because they offer a free McDonald's coffee coupon for you to redeem next door while you wait for your prescription to be filled. The pharmacist is nice and carefully explained the things once the prescription is finally cleared up.

This Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) is about a fifteen-minute drive from my place. Last week, I came here…read moreafter my manicure appointment to pick up a couple of items. I am not a fan of the parking lot. The person who designed it should be shot. There is constantly a bunch of cars stopped waiting for the light and the lineup stretches to the SDM lot area. I went into the store, found my two items, and went to pay for them. The cashier was efficient, but not exactly friendly. I parked away from as many cars as possible. Unfortunately, a woman and her son parked next to my car. It was a windy day. The son swung the door so wide that it hit my car's side mirror. I expressed my outrage, but he and his mother didn't care. The parking spots aren't wide enough to avoid such incidents. Luckily, my side mirror wasn't damaged or scratch, so all is well. I prefer the other SDM stores that I frequent far more often. I don't experience such mishaps or a lack of respect for other parked cars. (242)

You come in and sometimes aisles are full of boxes for re stocking but no one is actually restocking. You have to move things around to get to what you need. Cashiers are the worse too. Open another cash that is cash or debit or credit card only or 2. Will spend 15 minutes helping with the return while customers abandon items and leave. Oh, dented cans on the shelves. Nice and safe. Mmmm salmonella. I want to give it one star but, it is clean, and has a big parking lot.
