My husband and I got married here about two and a half weeks ago, and it was AMAZING! The entire Stan Mansion staff (Lale, Elena, Cera) were all fantastic through the whole process: selecting the venue, getting our vendors organized, day of tasks. They are not afraid to step in and get things done, and were always available to answer any questions. I will be telling all of my engaged friends to check out Stan Mansion! read more

Stopped by at the Stan Mansion during the Architectural Open House Chicago event. From outside, the building looked deceivingly small, but once inside, the splendor and the dimensions of the rooms were mind blowing. Three floors were open for public: main foyer, lower ballroom, and grand ballroom on the second floor and the lounge/bar area (on the same floor). We were surprised to learn that the building is almost 100 years old, as it impressed us how well maintained it looked. During the open house, we had a chance to meet the owner, Cera Stan, who was extremely friendly, she walked us around and gave us a few wonderful stories of the building. She seemed willing to go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. An amazing hostess, that's for sure! We also exchanged a few words with some employees, who were very knowledgeable and friendly as well. Overall, we were left amazed and totally impressed by this hidden gem in the middle of Logan Square. What a wonderful and unique place to host events! read more

This is an amazing place! The best decor, food, and the best host I have seen in my entire life! If i were to ever recommend a place to have their wedding, this would be the place! 5 stars! read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception here Saturday October 19th and all I can say is WHAT A TIME! Stan Mansion was the first and only venue we looked at when in search for a Chicago venue. It had everything we wanted- city feel, beautiful ballroom, large bar area, coziness, history...all of the above. Kevin was amazing to work with through out the entire process. We signed with him the same day we saw the venue. Through out the following months he would check in with me on the status of wedding planning and offered any help and guidance! One of the best things about Stan is they allow you to bring in all of your own vendors but are super helpful in finding them. We worked with D'Absolute Catering and Art of Imagination for our lighting and drapery. Everyone knew each other from all the weddings they've done together it was such a swift process of planning. The week of the wedding we dropped off all of our centerpieces and told Kevin to do whatever he thought would look best (pumpkins, candles etc.) When we took a peek in the room before guests were allowed in we were blown away. Everything looked absolutely perfect. Our guests can't stop raving about the venue, food, music etc. We had the time of our lives and are so grateful to everyone we worked with. I would recommend anyone to use Stan Mansion for their wedding/reception venue! read more

When you think of utilizing a venue wether you're a vendor or a client- you think about the usual. How many guests, cost, restrictions, popularity, functionality, and so on. The one thing I'd like to point out is that you're getting personal attention through and through. Cera, is the type of business woman that is genuinely interested in a connection with her clients. She goes as far as too make personal tours of the mansion, loves to be included in capturing the moment through photos and always reply's to client's herself well beyond the event itself. Because of her character and the way she likes to run her business, it's also important that her vendors are on the same page for the ultimate experience. This is especially nice as we have all become personally friendly over the years and makes it so special during an event. You just get this feeling of really wanting to be there with her and of course the guests. It's such a charming venue and is much more special because of her personal touch along with all of the staff the works with her. "A venue like no other!" read more

Stan Mansion was a pleasure to work with for my event. I was happy to find this treasure of a space while attending a film festival held there. The staff was pleasant and accommodated every need that I had. I received many complements from friends and family on how beautiful the space was. I recommend them to anyone. read more

We had our wedding here this past weekend, and it was the MOST amazing and beautiful place. Cera Stan is a total doll, and made all our dreams come true. The in house coordinator Lale was AMAZING and ran a tight ship. She coordinated so well will all our vendors and honestly everything ran so seamlessly. (Or at least I thought so? If there was trouble she handled it like a pro!) the venue was absolutely beautiful, and appropriately warmed- and it actually got so warm from all the dancing I had them turn the heat down!! I can't express enough how grateful we are to both Cera and Lale for making our day so special. I will recommend them to anyone, the venue is out of this world gorgeous and they are sweet as pie. Thank you both SO much, you made our day amazing!!! read more

We had our wedding reception at the Mansion in March 2010. The event couldn't have been better. Cera, the owner, was very accommodating, and was able to help us negotiate better discounts with vendors than we would have been able to on our own. Cera also has a flexible preferred caterer list. She allowed us to work with a caterer she didn't have a working relationship with, because we were adamant about using a specific caterer that has a portable kitchen in side their truck. They parked the truck/portable kitchen in the rear of the building, which ensured the food was as fresh as possible because it was made on site. The venue is great if you get want to get away from boring banquet halls, hotels and country clubs. read more

Very disappointed in this venue and the staff I and my family encountered. We attended a wedding there for my cousin, and at first we were impressed. It was nicely lit up and seemed to have been decorated beautifully. However, when we entered the main room we were FREEZING. The heat was not turned on although the family had been told it was. The room was at 50 degrees, it did warm up to 54 but never higher. Even the plates for dinner were freezing cold. We were told the manager wasn't around though they said the furnace was on. It's a shame that most of the guests had to huddled around the fireplace to keep warm with our coats on!! Guests walked around with their coats on or wrapped in scarfs. It was a horrible situation. A manager or owner should never leave when there are issues, you stay and fix it to your clients liking. Would never consider using this place nor recommend it to anyone. read more

Stan Mansion - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

My son's wedding on 9/23/17 was absolutely beautiful! Thank you for making their day a dream come true. The place was gorgeous, roomy and the guest marveled at the set up from the ceremony room that was used for cocktail hour to the wonderful larger ballroom used for the reception and ceremony. Quite a few of my friends are asking me how did they find Stan Mansion. Lovely meeting Cera Stan, I could tell she truly loves what she is doing for brides and grooms. Still reeling from all the excitement! read more

We had a fantastic wedding at the Stan Mansion this summer, and continue to receive compliments on the uniqueness of the venue and it's classy feel. We knew from the start we wanted something different as far as a venue, a place where we could "flip the space" to serve as both our ceremony and reception site. The Stan Mansion certainly fit the bill in terms of size and space and value for your money. We also hired Kevin to be our day of coordinator, and couldn't be happier with his services. He was funny and friendly, and was always responsive to my numerous questions. We would certainly recommend Kevin and the Stan Mansion! read more

AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING. I found the Stan Mansion on Yelp the day we were going to sign a contract somewhere else and I thank God that we went with the Mansion. It is an absolutely gorgeous place and it's so unique for Chicago. I love the whole vintage feel & we received multiple compliments on the building alone. It is very reasonably priced and you will not find a better deal for this beautiful building. We had our 11/11/11 wedding (reception & ceremony) there and worked closely with Cera (owner) & Kevin (coordinator). I can't say enough good things about the both of them. Anything you wanted, she would get it for you. If it was in the Stan Mansion it was yours for the day for you to use as you like. She was able to recommend caterers, lighting ladies, flowers, hotels, etc which worked out so perfectly for our day. She is not your standard venue owner that just wants your money & will tell you what you want to hear. Cera is a pleasure to work with as she genuinely cares about your experience. Just a quick story about the day to show you how much she cares. I was told that one of my guests needed a warm drink for her throat and it was the end of the night so the coffee was out. Cera's brother (I believe) went next door to his house to get my guest hot coffee! Seriously, what other place would do that?! We also hired Kevin to help us out on our big day. I am a worrisome person so I sent him countless emails and calls. He took care of EVERYTHING for us and was able to accommodate anything we asked of him. The day of our wedding I didn't have to worry about ONE SINGLE thing bc Kevin took care of it. If there was a problem I didn't know about it bc he wanted to make sure we had a phenomenal day. Everyone says that on your wedding day some things will go wrong but nothing went wrong on our day. It exceeded our expectations and that is mostly due to Kevin. I really can't say enough good things about them. If you are even debating Stan Mansion you are crazy. GO with them! You will be so disappointed with yourself if you go elsewhere. I read Yelp like crazy for all my wedding vendors so this is a great tool for brides. Please take my advice and go with the Stan Mansion, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Kevin & Cera for making our day perfect! read more

The Stan Mansion looks great on their website but after we saw the venue, it's really just a huge, cold, drab house with little character. We were also put off by how rude the owner was. He caught us right as we were walking through the OPEN gate and demanded to know why we were there because we were "on his property". We had made an appointment over the phone and were told to walk right in, by the way. I wouldn't give my money to him even if the place were nice, but it's really not that great. read more

I had a horrible experience dealing with Kevin trying to book my wedding he was rude and condescending towards our caterer and photographer. This place is a very nice place, but there establishment doesn't have hot water nor all plumbing is not connected. There sinks were clogged and stopped up. At the end of our visit he stated let me close the gate behind you when my partner and I didn't have a issue but to us it seems like he was prejudice like he wanted to say you black mfs can go... read more

After reading a review from a disgruntled guest of a Stan Mansion wedding, I feel compelled to write a review telling of my positive experience holding my wedding at the mansion. Yes the Stan Mansion is a very old building; part of the reason my husband and I chose the place is due to the character and history of the building (it was once a masonic temple). Drapery and lighting are definitely required to transform the mansion; however each guest can choose their own style of lighting and decoration. We hired an actual lighting director who did an amazing job transforming the place, without need for cheesy rope lights. Cera was extremely helpful and flexible and gave us an extremely fair rental price, especially considering we basically took over the mansion for two days for decorating, lighting, rehearsal, etc. She was fun to work with and so easygoing that it made the whole thing a lot less stressful for us. I definitely recommend this venue to someone who loves a place with history and character. My husband and I could not have been happier with our wedding, so thank you Cera and Stan Mansion! read more

We couldn't' say more wonderful things about Stan Mansion, and about Kevin, who is their coordinator/optional day of event coordinator. The place was beautiful, and was just the right size for us. Kevin was super flexible with us in terms of our needs, which were somewhat unique. We wanted to save some money so rather that just hiring a catering company to do everything, we bought all the plates from thrift stores, got our own table cloths and decorations, and then we had the food, silverware/glassware, bar-tending, and serving crews provided by all different companies. So it was a lot cheaper, but we realized it created many more opportunity for problems, miscommunications, etc., in terms of coordinating the four or five different companies. Kevin handled this without breaking a sweat, and made us feel totally comfortable with any last minute loose ends. He is also a super nice, super cool guy, who is very down to earth...laid back while also taking care of business. As far as the space goes, I read some reviews that suggested that the place was run down, with cracks in the walls and such. Firstly, they remodeled a couple of years ago so I think it is a lot nicer than it was. Secondly, this is a very old and beautiful building, with original plaster walls and lots of wonderful and original architectural details. These buildings are not supposed to look "perfect" the way your gut-rehabbed condo does. It has a genuinely old/classy vibe, not a "faux fancy" new construction feel to it. So if you are really really concerned about that level of "perfection," get married somewhere else (or maybe don't get married at all?). Go check it out, and I highly recommend having Kevin be your day of coordinator; well worth the extra cost. read more

My husband and I recently had our wedding here(06/06/14) and I have nothing but amazing things to say!!! The Stan Mansion was everything we wanted for our big day. The room was breath taking and our guest had nothing but compliments about the gorgeous venue. Our experience through out the planning was great as well. Kevin was so awesome to us. I went in there very frequently and sent numerous emails and I always got quick and respectful responses! So thanks Kevin and Stan Mansion for our dream wedding and a smooth ride! read more

I had my wedding here in October of 2008 (It's featured in Chicago Style Wedding issues Sept-Oct 2009 and Nov-Dec 2009!), and it was absolutely perfect! The amount of space for the price is unbeatable. Cera, the owner, is unbelievably accommodating. She is so nice, and made the whole experience just a dream. Additionally, so many places I looked at before the Stan mansion would only work with their caterers, and she was open to whom ever I wanted. The space does well with a little dressing up, and she referred me to Art of Imagination, who decorated the bar room and the hallway with gorgeous lighting and draped cloth. It really was exquisite. I would highly recommend this site for any event! read more

I had the pleasure of having my Wedding at the Stan Mansion August 2012. Me and my husband absolutely loved the location the minute we met with Owner Cera. Our experience with meeting Cera was a great one. We later had the experience to work with Kevin who is also amazing at what he does. The location and experience was everything that we hoped for. On my wedding day my wedding dress had a few wrinkles and surprisingly the Stan Mansion had a brand new steamer that they kindly let me use. (There is a God) I stayed in the bridal suite until it was time for me to meet my prince charming at the alter. We were able to rent a parking lot for guest, our food was great due to the caterer we chose, the place was clean, updated bathrooms, vintage mirrors, we were able to uselounge funiture for our VIP section, our guest loved the layout of the place (definitely not your adverage banquet hall), and most of all, staff and sercurity was great. It is a diamond in the rough, please see it for yourself because it is amazing. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely choose the Stan Mansion again. read more

I had my retirement party at Stan Mansion with my cousin on May 22, 2016, and people are STILL asking me about it!! Stan Mansion is a beautiful, quintessential and inviting venue. Cera Stan and her staff provided impeccable service and are warm and inviting...they make you feel like royalty. Cera made sure my party was a success and it was fantastic!! I highly recommend Stan Mansion for any occasion!! read more

After setting up an appointment with Cera , to view the mansion as a possible wedding venue, my fiancee and I arrived to find no Cera. Leslie opened the doors for us and let us walk around, but was unable to answer any of our questions. After several attempts to get costs, services included and event details we gave up. The mansion was obviously goregeous back in the day but has not been fully restored. The next day I called Cera who said that things come up and someone was there to talk to us and give us the details. Overall, it felt very unprofessional and poorly managed. Should the right management company take over and properly manage and restore the mansion, clear out the obvious mold and stop smoking in the building it could be a gem on the square. read more

Do not trust the food at Stans Mansion. I drove through the alley during one of their events and they had food being prepared on tables in the alley, close to the garbage dumpsters... gross. I went to a wedding there shortly afterwards and couldn't even eat. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Stan Mansion. We decided to go with this venue because we liked the option to bring our own liquor (saved us $3500!) and the fact that this venue was near one of my favorite ceremony locations (beautiful Catholic Church in Logan Square). I was unsure what to expect after I read the reviews on yelp, but the Stan Mansion was absolutely perfect and I would recommend this venue to ANYONE! The space was an old consulate building with a lot of character. My favorite feature was the beautiful bar and the raised seating on the sides in the hall. I can't tell you how many compliments we got on how beautiful the wedding was, and a few people told us after the wedding that they would like to have their events at the Stan Mansion because of how beautiful our event was! Our favorite part of this venue was working with Kevin. He was unbelievable as a day of coordinator. He met with us several times and always assured us that the wedding would be beautiful. He had a flexible schedule to accommodate our needs and always responded to our questions quickly. On the day of, he was unbelievable. We ran out of ice so he personally ran across the street to buy us more and took care of every issue that arose. He did an excellent job of managing guest questions and issues (at one point some guests were hot so he adjusted the temperature of the room) and I was able to fully enjoy my wedding day knowing he was taking care of everything. The best part? He had a few awesome surprises for me on the day of. When I thanked him he said "We love to take care of our brides!" And they really do. Do consider this venue, and feel free to email me to ask me questions!!! Our wedding day was perfect because we chose the Stan Mansion! read more

My husband and I had our wedding at Stan Mansion in February. The venue is beautiful and the staff is incredible! We almost exclusively used their "preferred vendors" for our wedding and were incredibly happy with them as well. They all worked so well together, it made our lives so much easier and planning relatively stress free. Cera Stan, the owner, was so easy to work with and was incredibly sweet and helpful during the planning process. Lale, the day of coordinator was so amazing through planning and the day of. She had so many helpful suggestions for how the reception should flow and she organized all of the vendors so well. It really made our wedding day stress free and so much more fun! She made sure we got appetizers and time to ourselves before the cocktail hour got started and she kept everything on schedule so we didn't have to worry about anything! The Stan Mansion was so beautiful and we have gotten so many compliments on our wedding venue! read more

We had our wedding (both ceremony and reception) here 2 weeks ago (10.22.2011) and are still hearing compliments from people about how much fun they had at our wedding and what a beautiful place Stan Mansion is. I highly recommend it to anyone who is tired of the cookie-cutter wedding. They let you do anything you want with the space and the space is gorgeous (unlike hotels where you can't bring in anything, or add much decor-wise). Cera has a list of preferred vendors, but doesn't limit you as to who you can choose (unlike any other venue in the city), and you can bring in your own liquor. This is a HUGE savings to anyone who has planned a wedding. You can get a very upscale bar, impress your guests, and spend less than any "bar package" anywhere else. Plus, we used a vast majority of the vendors that Cera recommended and were very happy with all of them. Our food was amazing (Bonsoiree), our coordinators were beyond amazing (The Smitten Bride), we LOVED our florist (Cattleya Bridal), and who can even hold a candle to Deborah's design work at Art of Imagination? BEAUTIFUL! Stan Mansion makes you feel right at home and not just like "another bride". We even had Cera's son do our coat check and this saved us a ton of money over using our caterer for that service!! What other venue in Chicago would offer something like that? I have spoken to many other brides and none of them had as great of an experience as we did with our venue. We really were so lucky to have everything work out so perfectly and working with Stan Mansion (and Cera) was a beyond pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this venue! You can check out my other reviews, I am not an easy critic. read more

It's sad that such a beautiful place in the pictures is not truly what it is. Unfortunately I had my wedding here. I had to learn that although it's a reasonable price to rent you're obligated to go with their vendors because they require special licenses. You will see that they will throw on extra expenses when it gets closer to your event. When you try to license your own bartenders, caterers they claim that it doesn't meet the requirements. Each little drape, chair, table and candelabra is a separate price. In all we spent over our budget because the place isn't nice without décor. Not to mention all the headaches of having to deal with all the vendors and the back and forth of it all. It was a nightmare for a bride even with my hired wedding planner. Furthermore, if you're a person of color (Hispanic, black we are all the same to them) you will be watched carefully and limited. After my event one of the owners or whomever he claimed to be said "I expected a lot of ruckus from people like you. They don't usually do this good at keeping order". That was one of the many racial comments I received. I would've saved more money and hassle getting a venue that included it all. read more

The Stan Mansion is disgusting. My fiance and I went there looking for a unique venue for our upcoming wedding. We have seen numerous unique places, but this was HORRIBLE. We called to let them know we wanted to come in and look at the space an hour before we came in and they didn't clean ANYTHING up. Coffee swizzle sticks from a previous party were strewn all over the floor, tables were falling apart, gang symbols were scratched into the walls and banisters, and it smelled of smoke. The entire time we were there I expected a rat or mouse to run across the floor. I understand and appreciate that it's a historical building, but there's no possible way that it is the "third most popular place for a wedding in Chicago" as we were told by the owner. Also, we have a couple of elderly handicap people that are going to attend the wedding and since the Stan Mansion has no elevator the owner said she could get a couple of guys carry them up the stairs...I don't think so. Nobody is lifting my 86 year old grandmother up a flight of stairs and putting her at risk for falling and breaking something. read more

Stan Mansion was the perfect reception venue for our December wedding. Working with them was a wonderful process. The owner, Cera, is so passionate about weddings and has a stellar list of wedding vendors to help the rest of your planning process go smoothly! Once we visited the venue during an open house we knew we would not need to look any further. It is truly a hidden gem in Chicago. There are so many unique characteristics that made this a memorable venue - a huge and beautiful new bar, the grand staircase and beautiful light fixtures, and of course the second floor ballroom. My husband I were absolutely thrilled with our decision to have our wedding here. We got so many compliments from our guests! Smooth process from signing the contract to the day of the wedding - between Cera and her recommended vendors - the day was a breeze! Highly recommend if you are looking for something that is not a "cookie cutter" venue. read more

I got married at the Stan Mansion a few weeks ago. My experience with the mansion and staff was great. The venue is very affordable and extremely customizable. When we first looked at it, I was a little worried because the inside seemed a little dirty. But everything was cleaned up for our wedding. The outside is beautiful and you can use vendors to decorate the inside to look exactly as you want it. The space is large and has a HUGE dance floor, which I didn't find at other affordable venues in the city. All of our guests raved about the mansion and thought it was a really unique venue. The best part about the Stan is Kevin. He was an absolute pleasure to work with from day one. We hired him as our day of coordinator, which I definitely recommend. If something did go wrong that day, I still don't know about it. He handled dealing with our other vendors day of and made sure the whole day ran smoothly. There wasn't a single thing that stressed me on our wedding day. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

We had our wedding and reception for 220 guests at Stan Mansion in October 2011. Planning a beautiful wedding in Chicago without breaking the bank is a tough one, and I think Stan Mansion really helped make it possible. We were able to have a candlelit ceremony on the dance floor and then use the bar area while the catering company changed the room into a reception space and dance the night away. It's such a beautiful building, we got tons of compliments. I was a little worried because the staff do smoke in the upstairs office, but on the day of the wedding they had the windows open and things aired out and nothing smelled like smoke. Cera Stan, the owner, was a little opinionated in giving advice about decisions about our wedding, but she is very friendly and professional and overall was nice to work with. The staff recommended the bridal party use the upstairs room to take photos in prior to the ceremony, which I wouldn't recommend because there are so many nicer places to take photos with your bridesmaids. My husbands and his groomsmen took photos outside on the front porch which were very nice, and our group family photos on stage after the ceremony turned out beautifully. I would definitely recommend Stan Mansion to friends, it's really a great deal for being that beautiful and in Chicago. read more

If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind venue for your next big event, you have found it!!! This place has so much charm. It is not your ordinary reception hall or hotel ball room. The first floor has a simple foyer which can be used as a reception area. A dramatic stair case leads to the second floor. The bar room can be used for small events, or as a cocktail area/over flow for larger events. This opens into a grandiose ballroom, complete with crimson carpet, hard wood dance floor, stage, & turn of the century hanging pendant lights. Some may say this place needs to be spruced up, but I say it is an empty blank canvas to do what ever you want! You get to create the look you want that will be uniquely your own. The staff there is very helpful & will assist with any & every detail, or recommend the right person for the job. I am a private chef & I have never had it so easy as I did doing a wedding this past fall at the Stan Mansion. A chef/event managers dream come true! read more

I do not agree with the other negative reviews that have been posted about the Stan Mansion. My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at the Stan Manison in September 2011. The mansion is not "unmarked" or hard to find as other reviews have said. If you tell your guests the address of the mansion, they will easily find it. I had several out of town guests that found the Stan Mansion with no problem. Cera Stan gives you the contact for a parking lot only 1 block away that you can rent for the night for only $125 for an unlimited number of cars. None of my guests complained about parking, especially for a wedding in the city. I had many guests that have lived in the Chicago area for many years and couldn't believe they had never seen such an amazing place like the Stan Mansion. It is really a diamond in the rough. If you are looking for a traditional wedding venue that you have seen in every other wedding, then this is not for you. If you are looking for a place that wows your guests and makes an extremely memorable experience, then you have found the place! For my wedding, there were no other events going on at the same time in the mansion, like other reviews stated. Cera and Kevin catered to my every need. I couldn't ask for anyone better! Not only was Cera there for me during the planning of my wedding - giving me amazing ideas for other vendors - but she and her staff were very attentive on the day of our wedding. I couldn't have found a better venue with better staff than this place. My experience was amazing as well as my wedding pictures. I HIGHLY recommend the Stan Mansion to all brides! Such a great place with amazing staff! read more
