I ordered the Chicago notecards which I wrote to my family and friends after I moved here and they absolutely loved the colorful, artistic and modern themes of Chicago landmarks like Cloud Gate aka "The Bean," or the Chicago Water Tower, or the snapshot of art from Alexander Calder's sculpture "The Flamingo" to the Pablo Picasso abstract art sculpture in Daley Plaza. Dry Climate Studios also sells matted prints of renditions of Wrigley Field (Go Cubs!) to other recognized spots in the city as well as coasters with scenes of Chicago. I can't with this ridiculous piece of litter, which is nothing but ads, obnoxious "analysis and…read moreopinion" pieces, and local news items you can read about pretty much anywhere else online for free. I don't pay for this paper and can't seem to stop it from being thrown towards my house on a daily basis. Sometimes it's on my steps, other times buried in the plants nearby. How many households like mine never read this, and have to put the plastic sleeve and rubber band in the trash and the paper in the recycling bin *every day for years and years* because they can't stop it from being left on their lawn? This is a horrible waste of resources which is clearly driven by Nadig Newspapers needing to inflate their readership numbers so they can collect ad revenue. Gross.

This was the magazine of choice for me for many years. I loved picking it up from the local music story every month. The problem lately has been to many ads and crap articles. I want more reviews of concerts, albums and tours as well as interviews and photos! I feel like it's more just sales ads and band listings anymore. Still cool to see them in print. Not many doing that anymore. I'm still a fan.

Being based in Chicago, I appreciate the local focus of the magazine. The amount of ads is what one would expect in a free publication, but I'm bothered by one recurring ad in particular for a dog trainer that was the subject of an investigation into cruel/abusive practices by the Reader.

Their reviewers are at least educated, witty, and full enough of themselves to write in depth, if not semi-informative, and well-written synopses of recent releases. The site is also my first-stop shop for music news and tour info. It's also quite pretty looking, and hasn't gone down in the 3 + years I've visited it. They've also got some sweet high-resolution photos of bands playing live, which dress up my desktop from time to time.

I guess it's still pretty small if you compare it to Vogue or something, but it is distributed nationally, if not internationally. They have cool articles and good photography. But the real reason they get 5 stars from me is for featuring one of my evening feather head pieces in their spring issue fashion spread. They're so cool in my book for that.
