I pick up Conscious Choice whenever I see it. It's free, and seems to make an effort to strike a balance between informative articles/investigative journalism and "lifestyle"-type content. The articles about the consequences of plastic products and the impact of chemical additives and pollution on the human body were particularly eye-opening. Being based in Chicago, I appreciate the local focus of the magazine. A food section includes healthy recipes every month, and the health section is a good source for alternative health/wellness providers and products. The amount of ads is what one would expect in a free publication, but I'm bothered by one recurring ad in particular for a dog trainer that was the subject of an investigation into cruel/abusive practices by the Reader. read more
