Customer of Staggs Nursery for over 20 years - was a fantastic nursery & tree service during that period! Up until recently never had a bad experience and always left thinking about what would be next on the list! However, just had my first bad experience after 20+ years very recently. Involved a written quote obtained while in their office regarding the specifics of the job, and after the service was completed - I was yelled at and cursed on a phone call afterwards - a proposed 50% a increase in price was demanded for the job completed. Legal action was threatened if I did not comply. Ironically - less items on the list were completed and manpower present had decreased from 3 to 2 workers. Reason - that their written quote had been wrong - only discovered after the job was finished and the crew had left. Long story short, won't go back ever. They delivered 19 pallets of Bahia grass yesterday - we are trying to lay them today and here is what we are dealing with: first two layers on 5 pallets were in tact and then each layer after that is in such small pieces that they cannot be used. I have been calling to speak to someone who can assist me. read more

OMG. There are no words for the amazing job they did...above and beyond our expectations. The tree trimming was perfect, it was like watching art created before our eyes. AND they, on top of that, they cleaned the roof, raking and washing (with our permission) and placed all the removed limbs and trees in a nice pile for us. These guys were wonderful. This Tree Service Nursery has a different kinds of palm trees, sod/grass, flowers, pavers mulch, pine bark and etc. Also they do sod installs, tree removals and many more just have to ask. This was my second time here since knowing about this nursery down the road from where I live. The guys and ladies who run the business are very nice and professional they will help you and load the items you bought for you in to your vehicle and trailer if you have that instead. Also they offer deliveries for a fee depends on what it is from what I was told. They have many selections to choose from it's an open field which different types of flowers, sod, palm trees, pavers, mulch, pine bark, rocks, seashells and etc. Today while my visit there I bought 34 big bags of pine bark the big chunks as some people call it and 30 pavers to customize the layout of my front and back yard. Overall experience would I come back here? Yes I would because they have many selections of different things you may want to purchase to spice up your outdoor garden and etc. read more

Dennis and the Staggs nursery crew provided a hurricane cut for 5 of my oaks that were long over due. We are overwhelmed with the service they provided and the price was agreeable.They were professional, courteous, hard working and work well together as a team. They left the sidewalks, lawn and flowerbeds that surrounded the trees the way they found them which sure made my HOA very happy with the end result and the their clean up ethic. I will refer them to others and will not hesitate to use them in the future. I also visited Staggs nursery in Dover FL where I purchased pine bark, potting soil, composite and some beautiful plants. The nursery is a large open field with hundreds of plants to choose from. Terrible customer service. I bought a larger tree from them 4 months ago and initially thought that they were nice and willing to work with. My palm tree got progressively worse in color despite watering it and taking care of it. When I approached them that the tree had died after getting 2 other companies opinions on it, Mack said it was my fault due to me really not knowing anything about palm trees. This is not the sign of a true business leader or strong business willing to work for customers. He also said there was nothing he could do. I think initially these are people who mean well and most see that but when it really counts, they won't rise to the challenge. I was only looking for his business to respond with some help towards something else. I wasn't even looking to get my full money back. Honestly, if you look at what they have in their lot, a lot of it is not well taken care of. Most of the smaller plants look fine but any of their larger items look like they haven't been watered in quite awhile. Initially I thought I would get a better deal there and settle for a plant not looking as good, but that was the wrong choice. You would be best to go to a different business such as A Quality Plant in Ruskin that will actually diamond cut your trunk for you as part of the service and you will get a 6 month guarantee plus a better looking plant. I would not recommend buying any plant from Mack at Staggs due to their policy of no guarantee if plant ends up dying. Also, I have never been treated as poorly as I did at his business when told it was my fault. I will make sure everyone I know will not use Staggs Nursey service. read more

I purchased two pallets of grass from Staggs Tree and one pallet arrived it didn't look healthy. I took it thinking maybe it just needed some TLC, boy I was wrong! The grass was mixed in with the good pallet of grass which receives the same amount of watering. All the grass pieces from the bad pallet never took root nor turned green. I even had it professionally treated. I called the manager and he said its nothing they can do....so buy at your own risk! I even suggested if I can purchase another pallet at a discount rate. No luck! So beware if it arrives looking unhealthy refuse deliver!! I will take my business some where else. read more
