I was having my landscape re-done and the people I used didn't do it and recommended Sod-X so I contacted them. At first, I called and spoke to someone and they told me to text my information to another number so I did. There was no response so I texted them again to see if they were going to still come out and do it but they called me and said, "Hello, I received a text from this number?" I was so confused, was my text deleted and he didn't see the previous conversation because every time I texted him after that, it was the same thing, he would call me and ask what I was needing. The communication was horrific and eventually he came out after one of his employees didn't show up the day before. He said he couldn't do it because it was too small of a job and that was it. He was friendly but that was probably the only good experience I had throughout. I could not recommend. read more

The Sod-X sod looked great at first, but that was short lived. It was installed near the end of the growing season and, some say, that can be a problem. However, Rico at Sod-X didn't think so. Nevertheless, $3,000 in installed sod died within a few months. Although a few pieces were replaced during an extremely short warranty period, the entire installation died shortly afterwards and fell outside the warranty. Sections of the existing lawn was not affected, just the new sod. I had upgraded my sprinkler system in advance of the installation, so irrigation was not likely a problem. I also have regular, chemical treatments by a professional service. I am willing to try again earlier next spring, however, I doubt Rico would even consider a discount. Less work would be required to level the surface. I still may consider another installer to install sod during the strong growing season. read more

Well let me start by saying if you don't get your sod from Sod-X you aren't getting the best in the business!! Rico and team have been one of the few businesses that have totally stood by there word and went above and beyond. I had sod put in last year and Rico and I have talked all along the way on what to use for fertilizer, watering requirements, and mowing requirements. Last year my lawn was a masterpiece, the thickest, greenest Zoysia grass you have ever seen. Well this spring there was some areas of opportunity, one call to Rico and team and they were on it! We had some rain delays and a few things come up, but Rico's crew finally made it out to do there magic and once again I have the greenest, thickest Zoysia lawn. So do yourself a favor and just get Rico and crew to do your lawn, they are fair priced and when Rico say they will take care of it, consider it done! I had SOD-X install my sod in late June... It looked great; however, by the middle of August I began to notice some dead patches... Not being a 'lawn guy', I asked what the problem could be and how I could fix it. SOD-X didn't hesitate and told me that they would be back out to honor their warranty. It is now the beginning of September and I have new sod installed to replace the bad sections. I was impressed that SOD-X kept their word and was happy with the service I received on both occasions. read more

Company does not honor its warranty.... I called the owner/manager Rico and advised that the sod was not doing any good (aka dying off)... I was assured by Rico not to worry as he was the owner and manager and wouldn't leave me out to dry... Don't worry.... called again the next month and was advised the same..after my sixth call I again got the run around except this time he advises that he can't be responsible for what mother nature does.... This is a sod business...and he comes up with an excuse like this after 3 months of phone calls and reassurances!!! Stay away and save your money... find another dealer... this place will take your money and then leave you hanging.... highly NOT RECOMMENDED!! read more

Rico was quick to come with an estimate and pick up the check! But the sod seems cheap and is full of weeds. You can see this already needs to be replaced, he will not come to see it and I am out $1100! read more

Didn't start off well. I called to schedule an estimate and gave a brief description. Was asked to provide my address info (by Rico). He never replied confirming receipt of the info or asked me for details of what my service needs were. Even worse, he never called to confirm a date and time for estimate. Then, the next day he just showed up (no call or confirmation), measured and left an estimate in the mailbox. NEVER knocked on the door, called, or even tried to speak to me and ask ANY questions. Not sure if this is their standard practice, but I can't give my business to a company that starts off with lack of attention and non-existent communication. I can't speak on their abilities as far as delivery of results or final product - it could be good. I can't say. However, for professionalism, I can't say I would recommend anyone to bother. read more

Rico and his team did a great job on my backyard. It's been about a month since they installed the sod and it seems to be doing great. It's nice to sit out and finally see green out in my backyard. Installation was done very professionally and they cleaned up afterwards. I spoke to Rico about a couple areas in my front yard that needed some sod and his team replaced the sod I requested and Rico didn't not upcharge me for this service. My lawn has never looked so good! Knowing nothing about sod, Rico and his team educated me on the products they offer. Rico was a very technical, which I love. He gave me all there is to know on preparing and keeping the sod going. He also recommended a lawn chemical service, which is an absolute CRITICAL! Had Sod-X re-sod my front and part of my back yard two years ago. The owner Rico came out to check my yard on time gave me a free estimate. Pointed out to him that I already received two other estimates and his was the highest of the three (It was only around 5% but I thought I would try to talk him down). He explained to me that he gets his grass from a grower in Miami. Therefore his cost is little higher due to transportation cost. I inquired as to why I should pay the extra for this Miami grass. He told me that they Miami grass was grown in a soil muck, and not grown in sand like other growers in the area. The muck grown sod will be healthier and have a better chance of rooting on my lawn. Basically they were having sod with a layer of topsoil onto my yard. He also told me they will check my sprinkler system and make any minor repairs as needed to make sure my new sod is being watered correctly, this was included with the price. I asked Rico how much money he wanted upfront as the other two estimates required 25% down before they would start. He told me he does not get paid until the work is done, and I am happy. Well, frankly that sold me on Sod-X, so asked him when he could start. It was installed on time with no issues at all. I would recommend Sod-x to any and everyone was even considering re-sodding.
