It's the only real nightclub in town!!! It's a must as a student to have the Stages experience!!

I got kicked out for resting my head at a table because drunk people stress me out... and probably because I'm brown

Horribly rude staff, I walked in the door, handed the girl a $20 bill, got my stamp bouncer pulled my towards the door so i would go in faster without my change, (cover is only $5) and i turned back to get it and the girls REFUSED to give it to me and said the one girls "witnessed" the other girl give me my change even though she didn't, then the bouncer by the door pushed me out and said "you can' harass our employees and expect to stay"... I had politely asked for my change which was RIGHTFULLY MY MONEY. Ironically i was completely sober... But funny how they think they can get away with stealing from drunk students. Needless to say i will never be giving stages another cent of my money. read more

Have been to Stages a few times and have never had anything out of the ordinary happen. Not expecting the best service because it's a nightclub ran by mostly students. Two incidents have happened here before that are worth mentioning, one is that one time I was dead sober in line waiting to get in. While in line, I got the hiccups. I got to the front and gave my ID to the bouncer, which he wouldn't even look at, he just pushed me backwards out of line and told me that I was "too drunk" to come inside. Mind you I haven't even had one sip of alcohol all night, I just had the hiccups. He then told me to turn around and go home whilst all my friends were inside. Luckily I was able to call a friend to come back out and go to a different bar with me. Another incident happened on a separate occasion, where we went to the back bar behind the DJ booth to order a drink. It it usually packed back there, but this time, it wasn't. Myself, my boyfriend and two of our friends were standing at the bar for around 15 minutes, waiting to get a drink. The bartenders would not even look our way for some reason, even though it was clear we were waiting for service. The two bartenders were standing there talking to each other for a bit. Finally, a tall blonde came over and took our order, who was not friendly and very blunt. But I understand being busy, stressed, and not in the best mood at work, but she was giving us dirty looks the entire time. My boyfriend ordered a drink for himself and me, and paid in cash but didn't give her a tip because of how long we were made to wait to order and the bartender's attitude. She then made our drinks and he paid, she looked at the cash in her hands (expecting a tip most likely) but instead looks up at my boyfriend and goes "your fucking broke." She then refused to serve my friends standing beside us because they were clearly with us and I'm assuming she knew she wasn't getting a tip from them either. She then walked over to the other bartender and pointed at us and told her to not serve us. The same night, my friend was wearing very high heeled boots, and the stairs are very slippery and unsafe. She tripped at the bottom of the stairs and fell, and one of the security guards just stood there and watched and didn't offer any help. She was scared that she was going to get kicked out for being "too drunk" (we left anyway because she hurt herself) when in reality, the conditions in there are really unsafe (wet floors and steep narrow stairs). read more

Many bars, nice central dance floor, sticky floors, sticky carpets, smells like alcohol and carpets.

Music was acceptable. Floor was very dirty, sticky and often times I found a bottle every few feet I walked. Bathrooms were a disaster, none of the locks would shut, the floor was dirty and no available drying towels. Found there were some creepy guys that continued to try to dance with certain girls. Was followed around by one in particular most of the night even though my group had rejected dancing with him. Decent amount of body guards working to monitor. Cover charge is $5 is acceptable but my group was there for an hour so I thought that was a bit unreasonable. We got a glass of water and then closer to closing time tried to get another and she said it's $2. read more

We went back to visit Kingston a few years after graduating and figured, why not go visit stages. It. Is. Trash. Do not ever check your coat. We were waiting 40 minutes for our coats and eventually decided to jump over and look for them ourselves. First of all, how hard is it to organize a coat check, second of all, why would you ever let people just start taking coats. Never coat check with the stages trash pandas ever. Good music though. read more

By far my favourite place to go on a night out. The line can be long but if you go around 11:30 or earlier, its not too bad. Cover is usually $5, but is sometimes $7. The music is pretty good, especially if you like dancing. I would say its a mix of current hits and EDM, but they also mix in a ton of well known throwbacks. The lights are also really cool, especially towards the end of the night. I've never personally had any issues which the service, but have heard coat check can be a mess, so if you can, avoid wearing a coat. Overall though, great place. read more

Wish I could rate lower than one star. Two friends and myself purchased three tickets to their NYE party. Even though we bought tickets, we still had to wait in line with everyone who didn't buy tickets, which was about a 45 minute wait. This was inconvenient but not the end of the world. Halfway into the line, a bouncer wearing a balaclava started shouting profanities at us, telling us he would physically assault us if we didn't leave. We tried asking what the issue was but all he said was that if we didn't leave he would 'kick the shit out of us'. Not wanting to get into a physical altercation in our dress clothes we had to leave the line. When we asked other employees if there was any way we could resolve the issue, since we spent money on the tickets already, they also told us to get off their property (the sidewalk?)... we didn't get to meet with any of our other friends who were already in there, and it kind of ruined our night. Be careful of the bouncers violent tendencies if you ever go here. read more

I waited in an hour long line in -20 degree C weather for an all ages event, almost suffocating due to the intense pushing and giant crowd. I finally got in but they were so disorganized at the coat check so I decided to try to find a place to put my coat. After finally finding a good spot I proceeded to walk down the club's steep stairs and managed to twist my ankle. There was a bouncer near the back door who witnessed me fall and immediately said I had to get out. I explained that I injured my ankle and that my coat was still inside. The bouncer would not let me get my coat and started to push me toward the door. Not only was it -20 degrees outside (and I was just wearing a tube top), but I was alone because I'd gotten separated from my friends AND I was injured. Kicking a girl out in the cold all alone with a hurt ankle is extremely unprofessional and discourteous. Luckily one of my friends spotted me and left out the back door with me - both without our coats because the man wouldn't allow us to retrieve them. My friend also realized that she had lost her keys somewhere in the club so we went back around front to ask the bouncers at the front if we could go back in for our coats and my friend's keys quickly. My friend had not even been kicked out, however they refused to allow her back in to get our stuff. She even offered to pay another $20, but they would not agree. Long story short, we never got our stuff back and I would not recommend Stages Nightclub unless you're looking for some bruises just from standing in line to get in, disrespectful bouncers, injuries from unsafe stairs, and a cold walk home :). read more
