I don't really not like this lake but not 100% in love with it either. Our visit on 08July21 was nice. Came for boating and fishing. For the most part, folks were mindful of the no wake buoy lines, not so much the direction of travel. Our Boston Whaler maneuvered well and the lake waters seemed clean and mostly algae free but no fish were found whatsoever. Not sure how well stocked this lake is but i came up with nothing but seaweed. Total bummer. Tho we didn't camp, the campgrounds were packed! Sight from the lake seemed to have all campers shoulder to shoulder. Not much space to begin with so keep that in mind. If you don't have an annual parks pass, you can get a daily at the park entrance. Pay to a ranger or use the kiosk (credit card form of payment). The park can also help with hunting and fishing licensing.

Pros: -The reservoir was beautiful. We especially loved the sunset views and easy clean trails around the campsite. -It was convenient to have a store on site. We had to buy an amp adapter and it was super handy to have them for sale in the store. -The programming was fun. We enjoyed the free s'mores and sing alongs. The staff was all very friendly. Cons: -The condition of the bathrooms remained gross. I've never seen so much poo. -You pay an extra 7.00 each day in park admission on top of the camping fee. You would think that would cover the cost of the showers. You have to pay with quarters instead. We chose to stink. -The campsites are the closest to each other I've experienced. You. Can't. Even. Toot. Without. Being. Heard. By. All. The. Peoples. It was pretty, but our family agreed we don't need to go back.

A great high country reservoir for summer water sports and recreation. In a quieter corner of the state and recommended.

Cool looking park, but the roads are really crappy and full of potholes. We were bouncing around so much I couldn't enjoy the experience.

There are a few hiking trails along the Yampa River and reservoir which have incredible views.
