My bridesmaids and I had the BEST time on our 1-hour ride with McCartney. It was the highlight of our trip to Steamboat. We had a range of beginners to more experienced riders, and it was a blast for everyone. The weather, ranch, and the horses were perfect, and McCartney was a wonderful guide. She was so reassuring with one of our nervous riders, told us stories about the horse's personalities, and gave us recommendations for her favorite spots in town. She truly made the experience. We were the only group at the ranch, which made for a very personal feel. The ranch provided beverages for us after the ride to top it all off. Kylie, the girl on the hill, was incredibly kind and professional, and her music at the tubing hill set the perfect vibe. Jared, though, was the real star! Incredible experience! I took my family to go tubing at the Saddleback ranch tubing hill and we had the best time. My daughters ages 3 and 7 had so much fun along with my husband and I. The best part is you don't have to walk up the hill, you get pulled up! The views are incredible and the family owned business couldn't be friendlier. The staff here are very accommodating. They had so much grace with my father. The views on the ride were absolutely breathtaking. The issue I had, which is not their fault, is that this trail seemed like an intermediate trail. I'm not a beginner, but a lot of the trail had many drop offs the side of the mountain. Combine that with a poor visibility day and I had a hard time, and I'm not a beginner rider. I think this is a fantastic company and a great place if you are more of an intermediate rider or maybe are a bit more adventurous than I am. read more

Hands down, the best snowmobile experience I have had. Ours was a mix of guided trails with some amazing views and a big open field that they gave us 30 minutes or so to just "play." I literally couldn't wipe the smile off my face while pushing the snowmobile to top speed on that huge, open field! The staff was so friendly and clearly love what they do. As I understand, it is a family owned and operated outfit, and it really shows (in such a good way!) We didn't have time to try the tubing, but several folks around town recommended it, so maybe we'll try that on our next trip :) read more

Last week we hopped in the car and spent a couple of days in Steamboat. It was my first time exploring the town. Hiking the Falls was high on my priority list. Rest assured, our two hour horseback ride at Saddleback Ranch was the undeniable highlight of the trip. From Downtown Steamboat, you're looking at a 25 minute drive to the ranch. Luckily for us, we were the only group scheduled for the Tuesday afternoon slot. The massive 8,000 acre cattle ranch all to ourselves while cruising on top of a horse. For context, I haven't been on a horse in over half a lifetime! If I remember correctly, it was a 7th or 8th grade field trip. Our guide paired me up with Reno (what a great name) and we were off to the races. As others have mentioned, horseback riding at Saddleback Ranch is one of those "see it to believe it" experiences. I truly did not expect the views to be this stunning. The scenery alone is worth the price of admission. The clouds looked like they were painted on. Mountains surrounding us, you can even see a mountain range 100 miles away in Wyoming! Going downhill on some of the steeper slopes on top of a magnificent beast was quite a rush for someone not used to it. Even though it took me a hot minute to keep my saddle from slipping, I loved every second. Plus, I made a lifelong friend with Reno! A special shoutout goes to Deb who led us and educated us on the tour. She clearly loves what she does for a living and it shows. Add Saddleback Ranch to your must-do lists when in Steamboat. Such a great experiencd while visiting Steamboat for a long weekend. We did the horse drawn sleigh ride followed by dinner. It was a very cold night and we were glad that we wore layers and also appreciated that they gave us blankets too. The ride takes you to the ranch for dinner. When you arrive they have got chocolate and cider for you. The food was good. The pork was most loved by the group, steak cooked perfectly. Salmon just ok- as expected. They had bread, salad, baked beans and a choice of potato side. They also have a full bar. While eating we were treated to a lesson on cattle roping. Kids and adults were invited to come try (don't worry it's not a real cow) and many did. To wrap the night they had some dancing with a fun country music selection. All in it was unique and fun and nice to see a family working together (even the kids help serve). read more

I have been on many guided horseback trips in my life, but this by far topped them all. I had visions of a tired guide, a tired ranch and tired horses, but none of that was truth. Pulling up the the ranch with the pristine natural Colorado backdrop was the start of a great morning. But then the staff greeted us in the parking lot with excitement and humor that set the tone for the day. EVERY person we interacted with was top-notch from the phone call, to the staff onsite, to our handlers and especially our guides. Debbie made the trip so informative and authentic that I felt like I was roaming the 8,300 acres of the ranch as a frontiersman. Oh, and we saw a bear and two coyotes which was a great bonus! I cannot leave out the stars of the show, the horses. They were paired up for me and my two kids perfectly for both experience and weirdly enough, personality. We had such a wonderful experience at Saddleback Ranch and will come back again the next time we are traveling through! read more

My partner & I had such a fun snowy weekend getaway in Steamboat, and Saddleback Ranch really added to our experience. We booked an all-day snowmobiling, lunch & tubing trip... and we were so delighted. I knew it wasn't right on the mountain but about 20 minutes out of town, so we didn't know what to expect.... but this family-owned ranch has this down pat! Can't wait to come back for horseback riding this summer :) They picked us up in a 30+ passenger van at our hotel, and social distancing was great because we only had 3 other couples with us. This pick-up really reduced our stress of having to find the ranch & unpredictable road conditions (and possibly missing our timeslot!). When we arrived, we went into a wood- burning stove heated room & were fitted for helmets, met our small group, and chose what lunch we wanted for later. Our guides showed us how to operate the snowmobiles & we were off for a few hours of blizzardy fun! The adventure was amazingggg!! We snowmobiled for 3 hours over thousands of acres, and we were able to just go free in a huge open field for about 45 minutes. SO FUN! When we got back, we took a bus to the lodge & tubing hill where we could eat & tube for more than an hour. I expected mediocre food but was blown away by the homemade chili - and craft beer or shots for $5! The tubing hill was fun & nostalgic. Our bus picked us up & took us back to our hotel, and we arrived 5 minutes before 3 pm. All in all, this was such a well-designed experience for my first snowmobiling trip.. so much fun, laughs & adventures. I can't wait to come back this summer!!! read more

We had THE BEST time at saddleback tubing! If you're coming in the winter book early! We luckily got the past two spots a few weeks before our trip... this was one of the easiest, relaxing insanely fun parts of our trip. We tried all three runs... on the black I went as fast as I could and got pretty crazy air on the jump... it's was AWESOME! (Careful how you land on the tube) We found the blue run to be the most fun as it basically tubes you right back into the line to go again. I'd say in our two hours we prob did 15 runs and took a little snack break. The location is beautiful! The staff was super friendly... you can't beat $5 beer and chili dogs... Get the fireball and apple cider... just do it... Also if you start to wonder where the road went and can a school bus drive in snow... sure can! Don't worry about it and just enjoy your day!! My only regret is that we didn't buy a longer day pass! read more
