FROM PARKING LOT TO UPPER FALLS: - 1250 feet incline…read more- 8723 ft elevation - about 3 hours round trip (2 up and 1 down) Definitely a hike that needs some stamina. For regular hikers, not pro, not super experienced, hiking up to the Upper Falls gives just the right amount of difficulty and intense mountain edge hiking. It was certainly difficult at some parts, but we did it! One thing - don't expect signs on which way to go...just follow the trail. It starts with a gradual incline, then about the last 30-45 min. It gets a lot steeper and rocky. There are some beautiful views for sure. Along the way you see lots of Aspen trees and a couple bridges. We went after a storm a few days earlier so there was snow and part of the trail was pretty muddy and slippery with ice. One thing I don't understand, when you reach the upper falls, the trail seems to just end at the falls. I'm unsure which way to proceed to the lake view as there's no more path. I wish there were signs at that point to help you continue.

Adventures in Whitewater is a great company with great employees!…read more My girlfriend and I went on the Colorado River (Class II to III) rafting trip and had a great time. This was the only option available because it was September and water levels were too low for the other higher class trips. Regardless, we had a blast and our guide Keagan was amazing. After checking in at the office, it was about a 20-25 minute van ride to the launch site. After going through safety instructions, we were on our way down the river. It was a really mellow section with very little actual "whitewater rafting", and more of a float. Keagan was spitting off facts and talking to everyone the whole time which was great. Very informative and personable. Along the way we stopped at a natural hot spring and everyone got out of the rafts and "warmed up" in the warm water. Right after that, we hopped back in the rafts and floated just a little further down to a cliff jumping spot. I can't remember how high it was (approx 40-50ft?) but 5 of us did it. Keagan jumped too, and gave us all instructions on jumping safely. After that the trip wrapped up pretty quickly, loaded everything into the van and headed back. It was a great trip and I'm happy we chose them over some of the larger companies. We always like to support small business when possible. Yes, I would highly recommend using Adventures in Whitewater for your next rafting trip in CO.

The ride went smooth and we were able to hit class III and IV rapids on Clear Creek for about 13 miles! It was affordable and great for the whole family. They do offer easier rapid trip for the youngsters. They also offer day trips, or half days in the morning or afternoon. When I return to Colorado, I will definitely go through this group again!
