I was underwhelmed with the entire town of Beatty, NV. We used this town as a night's rest between two days visiting Death Valley (since Furnace Creek Ranch and Stovepipe wells were already booked). So we were not here to gamble, and would have appreciated a few more amenities from the town as well as the hotel. There is no selection of restaurants, no markets, no good coffee in Beatty -- there is simply very little here. The Stagecoach Hotel is a "highlight," but that is not saying much. In all fairness, we stayed in the "old part" of the hotel, where the rooms open to an interior hallway. (The new part of the hotel where rooms overlook a swimming pool was all booked up several weeks in advance on a spring Friday night.) So my review is based only on our room. The outside of the hotel looks fine -- large parking lot, and gas station next door. There's a candy shop with a Subway restaurant counter inside next door to the gas station. That's about the extent of the visitor services in town. The hotel check-in was at the cashier's booth of the casino. We walked through the casino trying to catch our breath from all of the smoke. So we were not going to go back through the casino to even try the Stagecoach restaurant. Our room was old and plain. It was lit by dim light, since there were light bulbs burnt out. The bathroom was dinky, with no sink counter to set out your stuff. The plumbing had been incorrectly installed in the one-piece plastic shower-tub, which could produce leaks under the tub. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom floor. No decor on the walls -- just off white. We were holding our breaths when walking through the inside hallways because they smelled so bad -- they are thick with cigarette smoke even though we had a non-smoking room. Perhaps we are just spoiled Californians who enjoy clean air inside of buildings. But at least our room or the bed did not smell like smoke. There were two other decent looking hotels in this town, and in retrospect I should have tried the Motel 6, since it was newer. We won't be back to the town of Beatty, so we won't be staying here again. read more

The Stagecoach is the kind of the hotel you would see in a porno or a cheap-ass film produced in the 1980's. It's cheap, gritty, and dusty. My room had this odd smell and the carpet was poorly maintained. At the entrance the carpet was peeling and wires were sticking and I got poked a few times. What saved this from a one star was the bar and restaurant. Given my low expectations and hunger, anything to eat and drink would have satisfied me. I got a Nevada style fried chicken (whatever that means) and a beer. It was good and cheap. The bar lady was pretty cool, too. Totally knowledgeable and nice. Would I stay there again? Probably not, but it's probably the best option in Beatty, NV. read more

As you may already know, I travel every weekend looking for an adventure with my motorcycle club. Here we did a ride thru Death Valley, our final destination was Stage Coach Hotel & Casino, a quaint, fun, little casino. In the casino is a small restaurant, "Rita's Cafe" , separate entity from the casino, The food was very good & filling, we had dinner and their specialty is the Prime Rib, hmm so delicious and we were hungry from the long ride.. The Next morning we had breakfast again the food was very good....... BUT.......they are very under staff to served the crowd that visits the casino and you will have to wait......for your meal.... your dessert and even your check..... There really is no other choices of restaurants nearby or even a fast food to choose from so be patient when visiting this restaurant.. read more

I agree with other reviewers that food options in or near Beatty are very slim. The diner in the Stagecoach, (go in to the casino and keep going till you get to the diner), is probably your best option, and that's not saying much. Nothing is fresh here, not even the salads. Good value for the price. Sure, it's a older Hotel that can use some work but for the price paid per night it's hard to really complain. The rooms are simple with a bed, tv, dresser, coffee maker, night stand, and that's about it. Wi-Fi internet is now free with your stay, as well they have a nice pool and decent hot tub. The Casino is small, and nothing really special. Rita's Cafe has half way decent food, and it's affordable. If you looking to just get away to small town for the weekend, or traveling through to Death Valley give this place a try. read more

Room was clean and smoke free. Beware I left my Samsung tablet on the bed and when I repeatedly called requesting they check the room they said their staff was honest and no tablet was found. I came straight to AZ and did not stop along the way. I was alone so the only answer is someone took the tablet. I will not stay at Stagecoach again read more

I actually give this dump no stars. There was a huge dried up stinky urine stain on the sheet my daughter was sleeping on. The door handle broke so that my key wouldn't work. ..my 13yr old had trouble brushing her teeth because the sink was too high. Coffee maker but no coffee. Took forever for the room to cool down. The place is absolutely gross. Holes in the furniture, thin towels, run down facilities and this is supposed to be one of the renovated or updated rooms. The casino smells like one big ashtray, which is fine if you like that sort of thing but for those of us who don't, the smell is revolting. I could go on but why bother. If you're on your way to Death Valley, this might be the only available place to stay. Just brace yourself. This is no luxury resort. read more

No handicapped facilities in all the restrooms and the manager could care less....

King size bed with tiny, cheap and uncomfortable pillows sized for a crib. You would think that there would be extra pillows in the closet or drawers....not the case here. Very soft, cheap mattress. Who do they think they will fool? No night stand lamps. Only one, very bright overhead light in the room that is terrible. Try finding your way to the bathroom in the dark in the middle of the night. Extremely noisy room with paper thin walls allows you to clearly hear the conversation in the next room, even when you don't want to and do want to sleep. The bathroom fan is extremely loud and can't be turned off when the light is on. On a positive note, the room was clean. P.S. If you do stay here.....Bring your own towels! The towels they provide are a pathetic joke! read more

They promised that I would get a "remodeled" room. That seems to mean that they put in updated furniture. The carpet was FILTHY and the room stunk. The fire alarm was "accidently" set off BY THE STAFF ( it was admitted) at 1:00 AM awakening me. I couldn't call the desk to see if there really was a fire because THE PHONE DIDN'T WORK. It took two hours to get my heart settled because it frightened me so badly. They refused to give me a refund. There is no elevator and the stairs are very steep. Making it difficult for those of us that are older.The restaurant had run out of many items so that wasn't a good experience either. I found the hotel staff to be very rude both at check in and check out. read more

We ate dinner here, which was fine for a town with two places to eat (the other being in a trailer). The four stars is based on the option available in Beatty. Very cheap eats, I liked my French toast, but that is pretty hard to mess up. The restaurant is smoke free, but you have to walk through a smoky casino to get to it. We stayed at a different motel, but were given coupons for discount on food, free beer and free half-roll of nickels. I could've played slots (nickel--I'm no gambler) a lot longer if it weren't for the smoke. read more

I would strongly not recommend staying at this motel. I am not a motel snob but this motel (not Hotel) failed miserably. Check-In is 3 PM and after driving the good part of the day I planned my trip to arrive about 3 PM on a Thursday to be able to check in and go to my room. At about 3:10 PM I arrived for check-in and the young girl at the front desk informed me that the room was not ready. I thought maybe I misread the check-in time and asked her "Isn't check-in at 3 PM?" Her rude reply was yes, but the maid are VERY busy and the room isn't ready, maybe in 30 minutes!. So me and my children went to the Denny's located in the Casino. The Casino smelled horrible, Waited to be seated for quite time and they were out of many menu items. However, the Denny's staff was super nice. We go back an hour later and check-in, The room appeared updated and somewhat nice. We slept and the next morning found a cockroach on the carpet, that one of must have stepped on. I filled out the comment card and when l out let the front know and expected a phone call or something from the manager that was not there due to something about driving her kids somewhere but never received anything. I know this motel seems to the nicest option in the area but trust me you probably will have better luck at Motel 6 next door. read more

The Stagecoach Hotel and Casino is basically a 30-room motel, restaurant, bar and small-town casino. I stayed once in April, 2004 and again this time December 2006. The rooms are clean and comfortable and equipped with refrigerators. The air in our non-smoking room was fresh. $40 bucks + tax for a room. The restaurant was good - I was looking forward to their prime rib (Friday and Saturday only, I recalled from my last stay here). At $8.95, the 12-oz prime rib was a bargain - and good too. (Not great like a big city restaurant, but good like home-cooked). In 2004, I also had the pork chops and was pleased with that choice. When you want to visit Death Valley, the lodging options are slim. Beatty is 35 miles from the heart of DV and is the closest lodging if you weren't fortunate enough to reserve an in-park accommodation. There are also other lodging options in Beatty. Don't miss the "Death Valley Nut and Candy Company" store across the parking lot. (see separate review) read more

Nicely cooked burger, the fries were a bit mushy. The thing that bugs me was the wait. Apparently the beer I ordered had to come from the bar inside the casino, which took ages to arrive. And they sure could use a sign in the back that reminds the staff to smile. *note to self: when travelling to Beatty, be there early! read more

The whole hotel, casino and my room smell awful. Musty, old, mildew like smell. Don't stay here. They have no means to get the air out. The wall AC unit doesn't exhaust air out. The bathroom fan doesn't work and I can't tell whether it would be the type to exhaust the air out. And I know it is not just my room because the whole building smells bad. The lady at the counter was nice. I could tell she knows about the problem, but didn't feel comfortable admitting to it because there is nothing she could do. Best to stay elsewhere. read more

This place is your best bet for food in Beatty and its not too bad either! I would equate eating here to eating at a Denny's its clean and affordable and you have a big selection sure enough to please any family! And it is non smoking in the restaurant. To get to the cafe you go thru the casino which has a nice sized bar with a tv video poker and a friendly bar tender. The casino is small bit comfortable with a wide variety of machine and some live poker and black jack tables. If you are traveling with kids there is also an arcade where they can play while you play :) read more

I would give this place no stars if I could. I was travelling with a friend who had made reservations at this place b4 and thought it would be a good stop for the night. Well, it did not turn out that way. I felt bad for her. First of all, she had requested a bottom floor room. We got top floor with no elevator only stairs. They purported that the rooms had been remodeled. The carpet in our room was extremely dirty, and the telephone line was not yet connected. Dead as a door nail. To me a safety issue. I was concerned in case of an emergency. Well, guess what? A member of their staff set off the fire alarm at 1 a.m. in error waking us and others and scaring us. Our sleep was disrupted, and it was difficult to go back to sleep making it an unrestful night. Both the middle of the night staff and early morning staff were very rude and sarcastic saying we were lucky it was NOT a fire. Upon check out that morning my friend requested a refund, and she was told by then substitute manager she had been warned, and no refund would be given. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Oh, by the way, the in-house restaurant was out of several menu items for dinner because the manager was on vacation and no restock orders were placed. Good place to stay near Death Valley National Park. Very weird hotel/casino in what feels like the middle of nowhere. I liked playing $2 hands of black jack. I'd like to come back and check it out at some point. It was decently clean from what I recall, but don't expect to be blown away by anything here. It's a pretty run down out dated hotel. The beds are so bad homeless people would throw them away. The shower pulses hot and cold water. It goes from ice cold to scalding hot with no adjustments. I mean it is Beatty Nevada so you can't expect much. read more

My 16 year old son had been bugging me for 3 years to go to Death Valley. He wanted to go to Badwater below sea level. For the last 6 years, I've been taking my family to National Parks (Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Canyon, Zion & Bryce) and so I finally gave in this Memorial Day weekend while temps were in the 90's! I researched Stovepipe Wells and Furnace Creek Ranch hotels inside DV. It was too expensive for me averaging almost $200 per night. So after researching the accommodations in Beatty, NV I chose Stagecoach Hotel & Casino. I knew the Yelp reviews were mixed but I figured anything with a pool AND a casino in a small town near the eastern entrance of DV was good enough for my family. I wasn't expecting anything fancy @ $77 per night. They even had rollaway beds for $5 which I needed since I was traveling with sister-in-law and nephew. We reserved 2 rooms and both rooms worked out really well. One was facing the pool and the other facing the parking lot. The rooms had 2 queen beds and large enough to accommodate a twin rollaway bed. TV worked fine with some movie channels. Bathroom worked well and there was an extra sink in the main room where the mini-fridge was located which made that convenient. We had more than enough room to accommodate a cooler and all our stuff. We had a second floor as I forgot to request a ground floor. The worst part of checking in since we arrived so late (about 9 pm) was it was pouring rain and no parking was available - but that was not the hotel's fault! We had to unload our stuff in the pouring rain! Does it ever rain in DV? 1-2%? We couldn't believe our bad luck! Granted, this was 9 miles outside DV. The next night we were treated to a lightning show from our balconies! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who does not want to pay those prices inside DV. I felt this hotel was the best of the bunch when I drove into town the next morning for breakfast. Highly recommend Mel's Diner by the way. There is a gas station right next to the hotel AND a candy & nut company (which also houses a Subway). Good place to stock up on water, nuts, candy, and ice-cream and other snacky essentials. Easy location to go into DV and back to the hotel. We stayed 2 nights and I wish we stayed 3 nights because there is much more points of interest to see in DV than the main ones even with a normal 2WD vehicle. Oh one more thing, the pool was nice. I don't think it was heated but it was not chilly. There is a jacuzzi and a couple of gazebos for shaded area. Lounge chairs around the pool. I wish there was pool service! The casino is small but we didn't get to play blackjack because the dealers were on their cigarette break! The video poker by the bar was fine with good drinks. The best part though was the Denny's right inside the casino area! We ate there for breakfast and late dinners. One night we went to Sourdough Saloon down the street for dinner. Great place too! So even though it may not be your cup of tea, the Stagecoach is actually a perfect home-base for exploring DV. Remember, you are in the middle of nowhere! We were traveling from Los Angeles and Orange County and after hours of exploring DV, witnessing a huge dust storm that rivals anything in Phoenix, driving through pouring rain in the pitch black night, I was grateful to be there. read more

Stayed here just 1 night. The room was big and clean with a fridge, comfortable bed,nice and quiet but the tub needs to be replaced. It has 2 large open cracks in in and water is draining out. Good thing we were on the ground floor. We were in the new wing so can't comment on the old wing. read more

That aside the Stagecoach is a clean albeit smoky oasis of gamblin' good times on the edge of town, right next to the Death Vally Fruit & Nut Co. The casino is small, like tiny, maybe 50 slot & vid poker machines, and one table each of table games with 2 poker tables in the back. Pretty much everyone there is a regular. The diner, Rita's is good, which is a bonus cause there's maybe all of 3 places to eat in town, and it's open 24 hours a day. read more

This is for Rita's cafe. Okay, so the food is decent. The two stars is for the 'tude. I would've given one star, but with so few options in Beatty, it may end up as your only option, just make sure to go everywhere else first. Service can be turtle slow, even if there aren't many customers. It seems like they don't care about their customers since there's not that many options for eating in town. We stayed at the hotel, so we ate here several times, breakfast and dinner. We weren't impressed, but it wasn't unforgivable until 7 pm on a Sat night, after finding the Ensenada Grill with over an hour wait, we tried to go here again, only to find a 2 hour wait and they were telling everyone in line that there was no other restaurant in town open (which was a complete lie, since we'd just come from an open, albeit crowded Ensenada Grill.) At this point we weren't just starving, we were pissed. That's when we left and got a decent personal pizza from the gas station across the street, and topped that off with some tasty ice cream from the gas station next door. read more

This hotel is the perfect place for covering all the basics. Nice big rooms, comfy bed, and a flat screen tv with fridge and free coffee. I mean, for being in the middle of no where how can you ask for more? The kids also loved the arcade and we had fun doing a little gambling and exploring the fascinating candy store next door...make sure to check out that place! Coming through town and didn't want to drive the extra hour and a half to Vegas. Service was just fine but the rooms are kinda nasty! Bed coverings were lacking, cobwebs in the corners of the room, carpet felt yucky underneath the feat. I guess this is what you should expect in a small town, but geeze, 85 bucks a night on a Thursday? Won't be staying here again I don't think. read more

It was late, we were tired. Traveling from Phx to Seattle we stopped here on 3/3/12. It is inexpensive and the staff is ok. The room left something to be desired. Not real clean. The shower had lots of hot water and pressure but no ability to adjust the shower head so it was over my head and hitting my husband in the stomach....lol! The towels were thin and they only provide two. The hotel smelled kinda musty. However, it beat the hell out of the Ramada Station in Tonopah, we were stayed last time and they refused to let my service dog in the restaurant. read more

Awesome! Got broke at the slots machines but the stay was fun..no bugs in the rooms. Service was great and the people very friendly. We ate breakfast at the Denny's inside(that is another review)and then played some more slots. One gripe not enough cheap quarter machines. read more

The hotel is old and dingy. The rooms are sparse with old TV sets. The staff at the registration weren't all that friendly and the staff at the casino cashier's booth wouldn't say thank you after a transaction. The hotel has a Denny's inside which is the worst.The staff are not trained , the manager was not trained, the food was terrible ! There are a few other hotels in town that you may want to heck out before coming here ! read more
