Silt Wine Company - Yummy Pinot

    Silt Wine Company

    (68 reviews)

Silt Wine Company continues to be one of our favorite wineries in the region, and this is an…read moreupdated review based on our experience as long-time wine club members and frequent visitors. We receive quarterly shipments and visit regularly for tastings or a glass of wine, particularly during the summer and fall. The wine itself is consistently very good, especially the red wines. Their red blends are a real strength--the BDX blend is a great example and one we return to often. We also appreciate the inclusion of less common varietals, such as Teroldego, which has become one of our favorites. Many of the wines lean toward Spanish varietals, which makes sense given the Clarksburg AVA and helps distinguish Silt from more conventional tasting rooms. That said, they also offer a solid lineup of white and sparkling wines. While I'm not typically much of a white-wine drinker, their whites are often floral, complex, and refreshing without being overly sweet. I frequently enjoy them on site--especially during warm weather and when using my complimentary tastings as a wine club member. The sparkling wines are also well done and fit the setting nicely. The tasting experience itself is relaxed and well paced. Like many wineries today, service is brought directly to your table rather than handled at a traditional wine bar, which works especially well here. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly without being intrusive. As regulars, we're often recognized when we arrive--particularly my partner, who is far more outgoing than I am--which adds to the welcoming, community feel. The tasting room is housed in a historic, refurbished barn set among vineyards and adjacent to a slough. One side is framed by large heritage trees, the other by open vineyard views. It's a beautiful setting, though naturally open to the elements. The facilities are thoughtfully designed, with a variety of seating options including high tables, low tables, and couches. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. In warmer months, swamp coolers help keep the barn comfortable, and in cooler weather, heat lamps are available. During summer, mosquitoes can be present given the proximity to the slough, but insect repellent is provided. They regularly host live music events, where wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle, and food trucks are often available. These events feel lively and social without becoming crowded or chaotic. This winery was formerly Wilson Family Winery, which was successful in its own right, and the current iteration has clearly built on that foundation. We've visited many wineries over the years and consider ourselves fairly serious wine enthusiasts, and in our opinion, Silt Wine Company stands out as one of the best wineries in Clarksburg and even beyond the immediate region. It's a genuine gem and one we're always happy to return to.

They also provide blankets. The service was great and friendly. You can purchase tacos behind the bar and it was delicious. The view behind the barn that looks out into the stunning sunset was even prettier! It was our first time, didn't sign up for a membership but purchased and finished 4 bottles. 3 Sauvignon Blanc and 1 Chenin Blanc. We had such a great time and will def be back when it's a tad bit warmer. Beautiful grounds!

The tall ceilings and quiet rooms--thanks to excellent insulation--made the stay very comfortable. I also liked the different water options available near the front desk, especially since the bottled water in the rooms cost $10 each. The music in the pool area created a great atmosphere, and the jacuzzi was a nice size and very enjoyable. However, the main issue was the mandatory valet fee--even when not using valet service. This makes no sense and feels unreasonable. If arriving by Uber or not bringing a car, there is no justification for being charged valet. The website does not clearly state that valet is mandatory, and there was no prior notice when booking. At check-in, staff simply said, "We have to charge it anyway," regardless of whether the service was used. The fee is also quite high at $52 per night, which adds up quickly for a service not utilized. According to previous reviews, valet fees have increased significantly over the past three years. I would not stay at this Westin Hotels & Resorts location again. The accumulation of mandatory fees makes the experience feel transactional rather than guest-focused. I would much rather voluntarily tip valet staff when I actually use and appreciate their service, rather than be required to pay a substantial fee regardless of need. Overall, while the hotel has many appealing qualities, the mandatory valet charge without clear disclosure or usage was a major drawback.

There are no nosebleed seats like at some of the parks. Today we sat in section 102 row 22 seats 12 and 13. When we first arrived sun was right in our eyes, but it went down pretty quickly and it went from 81 down to 67 degrees. When you enter in you wish you wearing shorts and by the 4th inning you're glad you brought a jacket. We could feel the wind on our faces at times. The seats we had were great. I did move over a seat due to someone was sitting directly in front of me and it was hard to see. That is the only down side of the area, you are looking left and someone could block your view. We did not partake in any of the concessions, but boy did I want to. Everyone looked so good, but we had dinner right before the game so I couldn't justify getting more food. I saw a lot of people with crunchy chicken tenders and crispy fries. I could hear the crispness of the fries from the guy sitting next to me. One party of 13 all got hotdogs. I could tell as they were sitting 2 rows in front of us. The four kids got dipping dots. The adults also consumed pretzels with cheese sauce, garlic fires, and a pizza. They also brought cuties and boxed drinks for the kids. Sutter Health Park really go there money's worth out of that party. I was temped to the Cotten candy as I'm a big fan, but I was afraid it was too squished and loss of airiness due to it was all shoved into a bag. I'm a total fan of fresh cotton candy. They allow you to bring in a reasonable amount of Sun Flower seeds and Peanuts. I'm going to bring some next time. I just get the muchies at the games even if I just had dinner. All that eating around me and especially the garlic fries get my appetite going. My husband didn't even get a beer which I was really surprised at. He did indulge in a glass of wine when we got home and I solved my salty craving by having some Cheeze-its. We have tickets for 3 more games this season. By the end of the season we will have gone to 2 RiverCats games and 2 A's Games and 2 Giant's games in SF. For us that's a lot of baseball. We have the Caps, t-shirts, and jerseys so we are all set with the gear. I have numerous Giants Jerseys and I love wearing them. Though I do find them hot in the summer time.

Background Attended a May weekday night game, Las Oaklamento vs. the Cards. Sat on first base side, I'd say the lower deck but Sutter Health has only one. St. Louis prevailed 6-4, fitting because their fans were far louder than those of the home team. Supposedly a nearly full house of 11,000 attended although there were a lot of empty seats. Stadium I mean, it's a AAA field, so you get what you get. Fans do sit close to the action and the weather is nice once the sun goes down and takes the heat with it (first base is the sun side, but not a problem after the first inning or two). There's a single scoreboard in right field, adequate. Other than that, amenities are quaint (limited) and intimate (limited). Food Basic ballpark fare available. One Yelp reviewer calls it "Aramark's finest" which makes me laugh. Hot dog was OK, just OK. What's Unusual Pretty much everything about seeing a regular season major league game in a minor league park. My wife first suggested we not go to a game here, but not sure when, if ever, we'll get around to seeing the team once it moves to Vegas. Then she said that I shouldn't do a review of Sutter. But look, the John Fisher Debacle* was not forced to Sacramento due to a natural disaster or other unforeseen concerns, this relocation was entirely self-inflicted. Summary Sacramento is a beautiful city, especially the areas surrounding the river, and the people we met were very welcoming. We look forward to seeing a Kings game there someday, the art museum, more of the old town. * Courtesy of another Yelp reviewer. I'd opine further on the state of the A's franchise but this is not the place.

The ballroom is a stunning two-story space with an elegant balcony - ornate, full of character, and the perfect setting for such a special day. Truthfully, we are all still on cloud nine, and I want to tell you why. It starts with the real stars behind the venue. Sabrina and Rachelle, our banquet event manager and coordinator, delivered seamless execution and went above and beyond at every stage. With more than 20 years of experience, their expertise was evident from the moment we began planning. Unlike other venues/coordinators we encountered, Sabrina and Rachelle genuinely listened to our vision, offered thoughtful suggestions, and shared creative ideas that elevated our event beyond what we had even imagined. Their attention to detail was impeccable. From the food presentation - exquisitely elegant, with varied buffet heights and beautifully ruffled tablecloths to the flawless table settings that radiated sophistication - everything felt extraordinary. Guests enjoyed an hour of pre-dinner appetizers, including a central charcuterie board and pre-poured champagne glasses, which helped avoid the usual rush you often see at events like this. They also suggested two fully staffed bars with two bartenders each, open the entire time, ensuring easy access for everyone. They were spot on as there were no lines the entire night! The buffet for 185 guests - featuring salads, chicken marsala, teriyaki salmon, vegetables, and a show-stopping prime rib carving station with two carvers - was beautifully presented. Guests moved through the line amazingly fast, with everyone served in just 30 minutes. Throughout the event, the entire team operated like clockwork: appetizers were served promptly, dining service ran seamlessly, bartenders were efficient, and guests were always well taken care of. Even weeks later, many people are still commenting on the attentive and seamless service they experienced from the staff at The Elks Tower. Sabrina, Rachelle, and their staff exemplified professionalism, grace, and quiet efficiency. They truly covered every detail from beginning to end, allowing us to enjoy the celebration stress-free. If you're looking for a fabulous venue and coordinators who listen, deliver beyond expectations, and make your event flawless, look no further - Sabrina and Rachelle are absolute gems, and The Elks Tower ballroom is a stunning venue that will elevate any occasion.

The natural beauty of the venue will grab your attention, but the ease of working with the staff will melt your stress away and capture your heart! We had our wedding here on May 25, 2025 and it was THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES! We had our ceremony in the ballroom and it was everything I imagined brought to life. All guests then went downstairs to the epic Locked Barrel Whiskey Lounge for cocktail hour while the ballroom was transitioned into the reception of my dreams! The food was delicious, the drinks were perfect, and the service was first class. Each and every guest enjoyed themselves all day and dozens of people told me this was the best wedding they've ever been to. We were impressed with every detail of this venue from the moment we stepped foot inside a year ago while we were still venue hunting. My conversations with Sabrina and Rachelle solidified our decision to have the biggest day of our lives here. They are the glue that hold everything together, they are consummate professionals, and just the most fun! Careful, you will want to be best friends with them before the planning process is over! We are not rich, but they maximized our budget and this venue made me feel like a wealthy queen on our big day. Some folks even asked my husband how much money he makes because our wedding seemed so expensive! Trust me, it wasn't cheap, but compared to other comparable venues The Elks Tower is by far the best value you can get in Sacramento. It was worth every dime spent and I would do it all again if I could. I'll never forget how amazing our wedding day was and an enormous thanks for that goes to the hard working staff led by Rachelle and Sabrina!

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing due to poor communication, lack of signage, and unprofessional customer service. We followed the instructions exactly as stated in the confirmation email and arrived at 1206 L Street, next to Joe's Crab Shack, as instructed. The email stated we were to be at the dock by 10:45 AM for the 11:00 AM tour, and we arrived at 10:40 AM along with several other guests. No staff members were present at the dock, and there was no one available to check anyone in. We waited until around 11:10 AM, during which time multiple customers double-checked their emails and confirmed we were all at the correct location. One guest even called the company to inform them that several customers were waiting with no staff present. At approximately 11:10 AM, the woman working the ticket stand arrived for her shift. At that point, we were told that a different location had supposedly been included in the purchase email. However, all of us had the same instructions, and the address we were given also matches what appears on Google Maps and Apple Maps. There were no signs, no arrows, and no posted instructions anywhere explaining how to access the dock or where the boat was actually boarding. When my partner and I spoke with the woman at the ticket counter, the situation became even more frustrating. She was argumentative and immediately blamed customers, insisting we had not read the email correctly. She refused to review the email we showed her and would not take accountability for the incorrect or unclear instructions. Instead of acknowledging the confusion or offering assistance, she spoke to customers in a rude and dismissive manner. We were explicitly given two options: 1. Move our experience to a later time 2. Receive a refund Because we had other commitments and did not have the time or patience to go back and forth arguing over money, we requested the refund. However, it became unclear whether the employee had the authority or knowledge to issue refunds. The interaction turned into repeated back and forth, and rather than continuing to argue, we disengaged. We were then told we would be partially compensated for only one ticket, despite having purchased three tickets. No explanation was provided as to why only one ticket would be refunded, and the employee stated that there was no way to leave a note or documentation regarding this promise. Because nothing was documented, we have little confidence that this compensation will actually occur. What made this experience even worse is that the boat left without any staff coming to locate the guests who were waiting at the dock. Some customers eventually figured out where the boat was docked, but by then it had already departed, leaving no opportunity to participate. Overall, we wasted our time traveling to the location, waiting well past the scheduled departure, and attempting to resolve an issue that was not caused by the customers. Mistakes happen. That is understandable. What is not acceptable is: * Incorrect or unclear instructions * No signage directing guests * Staff arriving late for check-in * Offering a refund without the ability or willingness to issue one * Promising compensation without documentation * Poor, dismissive customer service This was a terrible first impression for us and several other first-time guests. While we will attempt the tour again to see if the experience itself redeems the company, I am not optimistic based on how this situation was handled. The company needs to update their emails, provide clear signage, ensure staff arrive on time, and properly train ticket counter employees on customer service, accountability, and refund procedures, especially when errors originate within the company.

As a result, parking was scarce and we parked a few buildings away from the one where our room was located.
