To make matters worse, while staff argued about this issue, my son and grandson were left waiting outside in the cold for nearly 45 minutes. No apology. No urgency. No concern. Now, five days later, the $150 has still not been released back to my account. That is completely unacceptable. A "temporary hold" should not take nearly a week to return, especially when it should never have been placed in the first place. This hotel showed zero transparency, zero empathy, and zero professionalism. If you value clear policies and basic customer care, stay somewhere else.

I am a connoisseur of hotels as I travel a lot for work and I am so glad that we are Marriott guests. I have never been treated like this in a Marriott property. I think if you're going to work front desk, specially in the evenings, you should be a little more kind to people just walking in trying to find information about your hotel. This spacious home is perfect with the most incredible views of the Pajaro shoreline and Monterey Bay. 84 Puffin and 59 Avocet are both incredibly clean and well appointed. They offer plenty of bedrooms with cozy beds. The kitchens have everything you could possibly need and each house offers a variety of beach supplies! Loved the big bath (whirlpool, if you like). The 'full breakfast' is fantastic. Jen is a wonderful baker (a breakfast bread pudding one day; mini churros another day), and each morning we had a varied and hearty breakfast that was delicious and well-balanced. The house itself is big and inviting with hip old timey jazz pipedor more modern-day chanteuses gently piped in. Enclosed porch for reading or just relaxing. Our room had a private porch, too. So much here. So many ways to really unwind. Walking around the grounds is inspiring. I ran into Derek a time or two who was relaxed but busy on the many projects that keep him focused here. The whole place looks perfect for a wedding, or a family gathering, or even a business get-away. Or, of course, just a simple, lowkey retreat. Lovely hidden (but easy to find) gem. I ended bringing in a small corroded outdoor iron table and moving a lamp from the second bedroom. * one floor lamp in the entire living room. Generally poor lighting. *Peeling paint in bathroom *mold in bathroom corners *uncomfortable living room furniture-outdoor wicker, way past it's comfort usage. No support. *unwashed sheets in second bedroom, unwashed towel in master bath. ( the rental agency was very responsive about this) In this time of Covid, these discoveries made our stay uncomfortable. Was this place really sanitized before our arrival? My point here is that a rental at the beach, for $400+/ night, should be comfortable in all aspects. This was not. For a total of $1800 for four nights, I would have expected much more.

Would definitely not stay there again. The property was clean enough but not stocked with minimal kitchen staples (like flour, cooking oil, aluminum foil). With VRBO you expect better. The patio furniture was so torn, cracked and ripped, our adult daughter had a huge blood blister after sitting on a green plastic chair. (See photos) This is not acceptable. Nor is the master bathroom door where you had to close the door completely in order to use the toilet. It was so cramped--and I'm only 5'1. Do not stay here if you are used to comfort, cooking, or a patio where you can sit out and see the sky. For $2000 for three nights, we expected a lot more than Shorebird #115.
