    Dirty shower
    M A.

Definitely don't recommend this place for what they're charging. Room walls and shower were gross. They also claim their key card machine doesn't work and they personally open your door for you; highly inconvenient. In my opinion, there is something happening for them to act this way that they're not sharing. The whole time I was here (3 days and 2 nights) the machine didn't work. The few nice things was the service of staff, they were friendly and the mini fridge and microwave. Not enough for me to return.

There is no excuse for a room to be dirty, as we tolerated the floor and even four by with the dirty floor in the tub. But waking up and seeing "Crack" written in blood was the straw that broke the camels back. That is a health safety hazard. In most instances, a manager being contacted would normally prompt some type of response or apology, but a lack of response spoke volumes.

Asked for Non-Smoking when reserving room, but was put in a very stinky smoking room on 1st floor. There was mold in shower and cigarette burns on the edge of the tub. There was no dresser, no housekeeping, toiletries, clock or hair dryer. Brown substance on the wall in bathroom. Noisey guests above that stomped around on the laminate floor and made the ceiling pop and creek. Local males gather in front of the hotel at night to party: very loud talking, music, and on Saturday night a gun was fired at 12:45 am. Not only is the room bad, it's not safe at night. My first and last stay at Motel 6.

Roaches with their egg sack after inspecting the room first glance

The room was very dirty the only toiletries provided was a bar of soap. The laundry room STANK there was moldy water which was BLACK! The neighbors were blasting music all night and it was hard to sleep. WiFi was super slow kept disconnecting. And to wrap it all up, there was not one but two roaches found in the fridge and in the microwave.

The lights were already on in our room before we walked in, the bathroom was dirty from the people before, hair all over the shower walls, only 1 single soap for the whole room, 1 minuscule towel and to top it off the toilet overflows after 1 flush. Disappointed because we came here before once and our experience was totally different...

THE COCKROACH THAT CAME OUT OF THE TOILET PAPER!!

I wish i could give this motel 0 stars. The rooms were crawling with cockroaches. ONE FELL OUT OF THE TOILET PAPER ROLL!!! Absolutely disgusting and disappointed. Staff did nothing. There were old bottles and cans underneath the bed. If it wasn't so desperate we would have gone anywhere else.

Came to the area from Sacramento for a Girl Scout event. Needed somewhere to sleep that was safe for myself and two young daughters), clean and not too expensive. I looked everywhere and with some of these past reviews was nervous but decided I could not afford over $200 a night for a hotel in Santa Cruz. This was a good compromise. Upon check-in was told by the owner the complex is now 100% smoke-free and that they were doing renovations and I would get a room that had recently been completed. Room 344 was on the third floor and yes they do have an elevator so no big deal. It was situated towards the back of the property and was very quiet. Some dumpsters and cargo containers did take up parking spots but was able to park directly in eye sight when I looked out the window. I was pleasantly surprised with the new decor and layout. I will post photos. Yes they do not give you shampoo but for a Saturday night cost of $78 including tax I can bring my own shampoo. WiFi is available for a fee of $2.99 per day per device. Decided we could live without for one night. They have an outside pool (did not use as it was not heated and the wind was chilly). The well stocked vending machines, ice machines and washer/dryer are all located on the first floor. The owners also reside at the property which I feel is a plus. Immediately across the street are many stores (Big 5, Dollar Tree, Baskin Robbins), Food (Applebees, Jack in the Box, Subway) and a movie theater. I would definitely return to this centrally located motel.

If I could leave a negative number on this shit hole I would. The room was dirty the employees are rude asf. Worst hotel to stay at if your trying to get away. I do not recommend this place and would never stay here again.

This is my made bed.No shampoo/conditioner & not much effort making bed either. What did you do in my room housekeeping staff?

Despite that, the front desk forced a $150 hold on my card at check-in. This was never disclosed properly beforehand. This was not about affordability--it was about honesty and principle. To make matters worse, while staff argued about this issue, my son and grandson were left waiting outside in the cold for nearly 45 minutes. No apology. No urgency. No concern. Now, five days later, the $150 has still not been released back to my account. That is completely unacceptable. A "temporary hold" should not take nearly a week to return, especially when it should never have been placed in the first place. This hotel showed zero transparency, zero empathy, and zero professionalism. If you value clear policies and basic customer care, stay somewhere else.

I am a connoisseur of hotels as I travel a lot for work and I am so glad that we are Marriott guests. I have never been treated like this in a Marriott property. I think if you're going to work front desk, specially in the evenings, you should be a little more kind to people just walking in trying to find information about your hotel. I am a Yelp affiliate and it is my job to review people and so you never know who's gonna be walking in to your property and the guests and our voices are the most important in the business because if the guests aren't happy the hotel isn't doing well. Review of shorebird 55 (Let me begin by saying that this review was submitted to At the Dunes…read morerental agency but never posted on their site.) Pros: *excellent beach access * lovely ocean view Cons: *furniture, towels, sheets in generally rundown condition *master bedroom has 1 bedside table and 1 lamp. I ended bringing in a small corroded outdoor iron table and moving a lamp from the second bedroom. * one floor lamp in the entire living room. Generally poor lighting. *Peeling paint in bathroom *mold in bathroom corners *uncomfortable living room furniture-outdoor wicker, way past it's comfort usage. No support. *unwashed sheets in second bedroom, unwashed towel in master bath. ( the rental agency was very responsive about this) In this time of Covid, these discoveries made our stay uncomfortable. Was this place really sanitized before our arrival? My point here is that a rental at the beach, for $400+/ night, should be comfortable in all aspects. This was not. For a total of $1800 for four nights, I would have expected much more.

This one in comparison--meh! Would definitely not stay there again. The property was clean enough but not stocked with minimal kitchen staples (like flour, cooking oil, aluminum foil). With VRBO you expect better. The patio furniture was so torn, cracked and ripped, our adult daughter had a huge blood blister after sitting on a green plastic chair. (See photos) This is not acceptable. Nor is the master bathroom door where you had to close the door completely in order to use the toilet. It was so cramped--and I'm only 5'1. Do not stay here if you are used to comfort, cooking, or a patio where you can sit out and see the sky. For $2000 for three nights, we expected a lot more than Shorebird #115.
