I had an incredible experience with Smile Fixer RVA. I received a referral from my regular provider for a crown replacement. When I arrived at Smile Fixer RVA, I was greeted by name and immediately led to the back for my appointment. They already had my records from my provider, and within minutes of sitting down they had taken x-rays, explained the process, and started a topical anesthetic. They offered additional anesthetic, but I declined based on their recommendation and explanation of the procedure and I experienced no pain at all throughout. They made my new crown in house, so I didn't have to deal with a temporary crown while waiting for another appointment. The whole process was quick, painless, and surprisingly pleasant. They have a great group of people, who were all so friendly and ready to answer the many questions I had. I highly recommend this practice and I've already recommended them to family. read more

Long Post: I went in to get my top and bottom row of teeth removed with a new set of dentures. They only measured once and used a size too big for my mouth, As I was choking they kept telling me it can be resized later. I was told that there was some medicine that I could take before the procedure but they did not send the script off in time for me to get it before the procedure, so I had to go in with just local anesthesia. The dentures came in and they proceeded to start pulling my top row. This took over 2 hours and they broke my jaw bone in 3 places!!! By the time they were done with the top row they said there wasn't enough time to do the bottom row that day (which was okay by me since I didn't have any medication for nerves, they broke jaw bone numerous times and did a rushed/ poor job with the bone graft.) The top dentures never fit correctly, I went back 3 times for resizing but since the original plate was too big and the measurements were only taken once they could only sand down some of the discomfort. It has been a year now and my top jaw is still having problems/ pain and I have never worn the top set since it was never made to fit my mouth correctly. I never went back for the bottom row for 2 reasons, 1. I did not want to experience that trauma again and 2. I was planning on moving to Michigan. I called and asked for a refund on the bottom row of dentures since I never took possession of them (and never will since they will not fit correctly) and the cost of pulling the bottom row since the work wasn't done and I will eventually have to pay another clinic to fix the top row and pull the bottom row. They refused to refund the bottom row of dentures and continue to tell me that they will mail me them instead. (I DO NOT WANT THEM! THEY DO NOT FIT AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN'T DONE CORRECTLY!!!) - I am now waiting for the refund for the pulling of the bottom row and will have to go get there mistakes corrected and new dentures made at a later date. I was hoping that this could have been resolved but it is clear that they would rather fight than do the right thing. read more

Working with Dr. Lukanuski was a positive experience from beginning to end. I had recently switched over to Dr. Lukanuski's practice from another local dentist who was recommended by my insurance and had been seeing my children and I for about five years. It was like night and day. Dr. Lukanuski's office is technically current and the staff is extremely professional. Even with COVID-19, Dr. Lukanuski made sure that she got me in right away for a tooth ache that I was having and recommended an excellent endodontist in the area for me to have a root canal done. I returned to Dr. Lukanuski for the crown and have to say, after experiencing a procedure at Dr. Lukanuski's office, I now realize how far in the dark ages my other Dentist had been. The office staff is extremely friendly and they stuck to all of the procedures required for seeing patients through COVID-19. I never felt worried about exposure. As a bonus, there is a very sweet service dog there. I wouldn't normally look forward to seeing the dentist again, but I will be happy to return for my next cleaning and procedure. read more

I have been going to Dr. Lukanuski's practice since I moved to the West End. She's a down to earth type of dentist that listens to her patients needs. Her office is very comfortable for my family. The receptionist is very friendly and always knows my name even though I'm only there a few times a year. She has a 2nd waiting room with a TV that's perfect to occupy my kids while I'm alternating between their cleanings and I don't have to worry about them bothering other patients. My favorite thing about Dr. Lukanuski's office is that she has her dog there. I am definitely an animal person and I am always biased to other animal lovers. Her dog is a service dog that is very well behaved and relaxes at the office. It really makes it feel like an extension of home. Our family has definitely found our dentist office for years to come. read more

One of the best dentist offices I been too in Richmond. I have been to many. It's hard to find a dentist office to get comfortable at this one is very welcoming. They even have a doggy for comfort during a time like this. They were very clean very sanitary and went above and beyond for me and my dental health. I came in for a permanent fill in and was seen and finished in less than an hour. It was definitely the best experience I have had at a dentist office in a long time. This dentist destroyed one of my teeth. I saw her years ago & she stated I had minor decay on one tooth, she began to drill & drill & drill. I remember thinking to myself, that's a lot of drilling for such a small amount of decay. She filled in the tooth & sent me home. As soon as I drank anything cold, it felt like an electric cattle prod hitting that side of my mouth. I notified the dentist, she said it was normal & to return 3-6mths. I did, she refilled the tooth again telling me the pain was normal, it was not. I had a root canal done by another dentist who stated the root had been inflamed & will never use Dr Lukanuski again. read more
