This comfortable and friendly place blends European standards with Asian flavors. All of us, from vegans to carnivores, enjoyed our meals. The chef here knows flavors well and is not afraid to be bold with big flavors, never going overboard. Case in point: the duck broth with udon, pickled ginger and pickled radishes. The broth, very rich and reminiscent of pho, was complemented nicely by the tang and heat of pickled sushi ginger-- very satisfying on a cold seaside day.
Another standout was the hot lemonade which turned out to be a hot, fresh citrus tea with cloves, star anise, rosemary, and cinnamon. This was good both with and without a shot of rum.
The non-vegetarian main dishes equally feature deftly cooked vegetables next to their meat counterparts. It was fun to pick through the shrimp, chorizo and pan fried vegetables getting different combinations of carrots, celery root, beets, and parsley root with the sausage and shrimp. This plate was deceptively filling.
