I was really craving some Middle Eastern food and I was walking around the area near my hotel in Katowice, and this small little Lebanese shop caught my attention. When I walked in I was kindly greeted by the owner, who showed me a menu with pictures which was great since communication was a bit of a barrier for us.
All the food looked so good, but I ended up going with the Grillowane shish-kofta which is just grilled shish kofta with pomegranates, hummus, fries, pita, pickles, and coleslaw. I decided to grab a Mirinda on the side as well. If you're an American like me, you've probably never seen this brand of citrus soda, but you have to try it! So much better than anything in the US.
After I ordered, I sat down at an empty table. It's pretty small inside so there are not many tables, so it didn't seem uncommon for strangers to sit together. There was a family with young kids next to me, and when one of the children accidentally spilled their orange juice, the staff were super quick to clean it up, bring them a new OJ and even handed them a freshly blown balloon to play with. It was the sweetest thing ever!
On top of that, when the food finally came out it hit so good! The hummus was perfect, just that beautifully smooth, delightful Lebanese hummus that I always crave. I think Lebanese restaurants always have the best hummus. The kofta was grilled to perfection, nice and juicy, and I loved the sauce and little pieces of pomegranate on top. The fries were just okay but I still liked them. The pita was great and tasted homemade. I am not really a fan of coleslaw in general but it tasted pretty good.
The meal was pretty cheap and they even accepted my company card which is unfortunately, AMEX! read more
