I have both worked with the staff & students at Stacey James Institute and received services for many years. I have never experienced anything but the most professional, kind, efficient customer service from both the staff, the teachers, and the students! The staff is always friendly and inviting when anyone walks in the doors. They offer water and tea while we wait and always have smiles on their faces. The teachers are so hands on even during very busy Saturdays they take the time to coach the students -- not on how the students are doing things wrong, but offering suggestions on how to do things differently. The teachers are remarkable in their patience, knowledge, and understanding of where each student is in their level of learning. As a business owner and company employee trainer, I am amazed at how skilled & supportive the teachers are! Stacey James, owner, works constantly to improve her list of services to teach her students so they can be competitive in today's esthetician market. She is known in the Denver community for giving every student a chance regardless of skill level, economic level, and age. She doesn't exclude anyone! And it certainly shows in the quality of the graduates. These students are professional and proficient -- as if they have been doing these services for years. In my opinion, there is no better place to get services done at a discounted price and from what I see, there is no better place to go to esthetician school. I went to school here and do not feel like I got the education that I deserved and PAID for. Yes, I went to school during the pandemic (mainly when things were normal though) but tell me why they had me watching random YouTube videos as my class?? (I could've done that on my own and not paid so much money). Yeah we had zoom calls but did we ever actually do anything on them? No, it was the most unorganized mess in my life. Yes I get it was during a pandemic, but they also knew that it was a HUGE possibility we would've had to quarantine.. in which we did. but they didn't plan that out very well. I even ended up taking a leave because I did not feel like that was a waste of hours and my money so it took me longer than expected to graduate. When I first started, we went through 4-5 teachers within the first few months.. yeah they aren't great at hiring people either. The teachers there now are amazing and great people but they've had some questionable ones. The administration are some of the rudest people I have ever met. They told me ONE WEEK before I graduated that I owed them a few thousands of dollars and that I couldn't graduate if I didn't pay it. yeah, ONE WEEK before I graduated. My family and I have been to Stacey James Institute many times and we love it there. My kids and husband always leave with fantastic haircuts and I enjoy the many services that are offered. I recently wanted to change my look and the students and educators recommended hair extensions and they look great. I have had many compliments on my hair after leaving Stacey James. I also have enjoyed facials, manicures, pedicures, and waxing. Every student and educator has been very friendly, helpful and beyond professional. I also love how friendly all the front desk staff and the director is. The students are very capable of working independently, but educators often come by and check in. The cost is very affordable, the service is in line with a high-end salon, and these services aid in the training of these future professionals. I love the design of the school, it is very similar to a higher end salon and an overall great atmosphere. I would highly recommend this school for low-cost services with high-end results. read more

Stacey is above and beyond. She styled my hair for Miss CO, shown in my profile picture and put in extensions (I shaved my head for charity a year ago and wanted to compete with long hair). But she's more than that to me. I've been going through a pretty tough thing. Worst migraine of my life, lasting 226 days thus far. With that comes a lot of depression and despair. I i reach out to tell her that the only reason I got up and showered and washed my hair was to care for my beautiful extensions. I've had long hair most of my life, and what she did for me was allow me to see me as myself again. Feel pretty and give me a reason to take care of myself. What she does is important, even beyond making people feel good about themselves, which of course has incredible value. She has incredible value to me and I wanted to say I'm thankful for her every time my hair gives me a reason to smile. It's no small thing, especially right now. I never knew this place existed and I'm glad I found it. I had a mini spa day and got a facial and haircut. They use Dermologica products for facials which is comforting and it definitely got what I call "the winter skin" off my face. The facial put moisture back in that was definitely needed and my skin felt super soft. My hair was also a mess when I went in because I haven't had it cut in about 6 months so I added the deep conditioning treatment. The treatment was great that my hair looks refreshed and felts super soft. The hair stylist took great precision in cutting my hair and did not cut more or less than I asked for. She really understood what I wanted and went. The place is also super cute and cozy. Do remember this is a school so services can take longer than a normal spa but definitely worth it. Prices are also reasonable. Will definitely come back with the great service. read more

We checked out several cosmetology schools... Empire, Xenon (now Avalon), Aveda and New Dimensions and found Stacey James to be the most hands-on with a low student/teacher ratio and the happiest students...several who've transferred from the other schools. Our daughter has been a student at SJ since January 2019 and absolutely LOVES it! She's experienced a LOT of hands on, even during the first ten weeks of discovery (before they start working on the floor) she was busy doing facials, waxing, manicures and working on mannequin heads. The staff and instructors are patient and encouraging and the other students have become like a second family to her. Addressing the claims of the slanderous one-star rating, the facility is stylish, clean, well-maintained and the roof has never leaked. This is a wonderful school. read more

I like to get crazy colors put in my hair and the teachers and students at Stacey James Institute did not fail me at all. I came in with lots of virgin hair from my roots growing out and the students and staff dyed my hair 3 different colors. This is the first time in a long time that I haven't walked out of a salon with fried hair. I would highly recommend anyone that I talk to to go to Stacey James Institute. I moved from Wyoming specifically to study at Stacey James and since the moment I toured the school I knew that it was an environment I would love to be in. Through my education I felt as if I was cared for and my concerns were dealt with and truly taken care of. I appreciated that they had one of the staff come in and spend a whole week and help prepare us with our boards prep - Erin was wonderful and helped my class feel confident going into the State test. Since graduating from the institute the transition from being a student to a licensed cosmetologist has been a breeze. I go into every appointment prepared and ready for whats to come. How they manage the school as if its an actual salon so prepared me for what was coming. The staff and instructors always had my back going into boards as well as future job placement. This school is an embarrassment to the cosmetology school community. The students are treated like children, by the director of the school especially. The dress code is changed every other week, students are always confused about graduation dates and why they keep changing, they don't have a solid curriculum, they don't care about anything other than your money and I would not recommend coming here. Not to mention the school is being sued by more than one student. DO NOT COME HERE. read more
