She was nice, friendly, and funny. She was right on target about things she mentioned about me. She said that soon I was going to meet someone with a really nice smile, someone who wore some type of hat for work. Lo and behold, two weeks later I met a guy that I actually liked. Nice smile and teeth. Ha! And he worked as an engineer for a construction company- hence the hard hat. I thought it was cool that she was on point with that. Maybe it was a coincidence though? We ended up dating seriously, but had our ups and downs. Less than a year later, I messed up, and he broke up with me. I was beyond devastated. My heart was shattered. I was desperate for guidance. I called Lindy hysterical, waterfall of tears. She said calmly, "I know you're upset and this feels like the end." So matter of fact, she goes, "You know, I still see the wedding. And a couple of kids." I didn't necessarily believe her at that time, but it gave me hope and hope is all I needed. 3 years after that we were married. 2 years ago we had our first son and our second son was born in March of this year. Just writing this brings tears to my eyes because 9 years ago I would have never thought this would all be possible. But Lindy gave me that glimmer of hope that he was my soulmate, that it would all come to fruition one day. I did speak with her a few other times and she's always been so on it. I've been in session with a few therapists and I have little doubt I would have been equally pleased with Dr. Jobin as my counselor whether for family or even when I was still in the military and, thanks to a lot of social pressure, discretion seemed like a necessity. I currently work in law enforcement and I spend quite a bit of time encouraging coworkers to start going before you feel you need it because it's a skill that can be improved like any other.
