This is exactly what a thrift store should be! Cheap with lots of random stuff. A treasure hunt for sure. Will be going back.

Last Chance Thrift Store in Decatur is the kind of place where organization clearly lost the battle…read moreyears ago... but somehow that's exactly what makes it special. Walking in feels less like entering a store and more like beginning a treasure hunt designed by your favorite slightly chaotic auntie. There are rows and rows of clothing racks packed so tightly together you may leave with both a vintage jacket and a mild case of claustrophobia. Furniture appears where furniture should not be. Shoes are stacked in mysterious places. Somewhere in the distance sits a sweater your grandfather absolutely owned in 1974. And yet... somehow... it works. This place is the literal definition of "one man's trash is another man's treasure." There are THOUSANDS of clothing items for men, women, and children. Some pieces still have brand-new tags attached, while others feel like they came directly out of a bygone era in the best possible way. If you love vintage finds, unique pieces, or the thrill of discovering something amazing hidden between three unrelated jackets and a lamp shade, this place is for you. But the real gem of Last Chance isn't the merchandise, it's the staff. Every single time I've visited, they've been incredibly kind, patient, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond for customers. Their warmth somehow balances out the beautiful chaos surrounding them. So if you can successfully maneuver past the endless maze of furniture, clothing racks, random treasures, and shoes only somebody's grandfather would confidently wear to church and a cookout on the same day... then congratulations. You may have just found your new favorite thrift store.

In the spirit of thrift stores, this one fits the mold. There's a little some of everything. I…read morestopped in today just because I was in the area and always curious about what was inside. It's a large open space (think warehouse) with racks on racks on racks of items. Upon entry, I was immediately overwhelmed and considered leaving. I'm glad I pushed thru the desire to run away. To make it manageable for my brain, I decided to just tour the store to see what was in there and then lock in on one item (women's dresses and skirts) I would look through. I left with four unique clothing items for $18 and some change. Two of the items I purchased had blue price tags and blue was one of the colors of the day that was 50% off. However, I learned that if I shopped on a different day, the items with those color cards would've just been $.99 a piece, so I could've gotten out of there with the same items for even cheaper on the right day. Sort of like any store, at the checkout lane, there is shelving with small items you could grab. Many of those things were like party decorations that were unopened and brand new in the package.

It's difficult to pick my favorite thing about this store: 1) the outstanding quality of the…read moredonated goods 2) the friendly neighborhood vibe 3) the helpful, resourceful staff. I started a new job this year, after years of working from home, my office wardrobe needed a serious refresh, but with the inflation of clothing prices I had to rely on buying second-hand. Once you are a Woman of a Certain Age, you can't get away with cheap and cheerful, plus, quality is better constructed, so the fit and wear is better. Second Life was an essential to me: I found Cole Hahn and AVL leather flats (almost unworn), numerous silk blouses (Marchesa Voyage, Annie Griffin), two silk skirts (one bespoke, the other from Anthropologie), dresses, jackets, a string of cultured pearls, Chicos and Eileen Fisher trousers - oh, and my last trip there, I actually scanned the books, and the selection is equally good there. Prices are higher than your average thrift, but, as you can see, so is the merchandise. It's always fair, and they run sales on the regular. I've been inspired to start putting aside some of my almost unworn or lightly worn clothes so that I can contribute to this community treasure, and keep the cycle going. This shop reminds me of everything I love about Avondale Estates / Decatur / Scottsdale / Clarkston.

I wrote 3 stars bc sadly the place doesn't have any place to try on clothes anymore. You can technically return your clothes but for me I don't really buy clothing without checking the fit first. I hope second life figures out bringing back the dressing rooms for customers. If they did i'd for sure love shopping here.
