When thrift/vintage shopping, you know there's gonna be junk, and it's nice to support charities. Regrettably, this location is all junk and dirty. It's lighting is like a dark garage, a bit dirty, sparse, stuff piled on shelves, and most importantly, *massively* overpriced. Junk is junk, don't price it like a collectors item! The best thing there are the books, but beware-they're all unorganized. So go shelf to shelf. The next best thing there is the staff. Super nice. read more

This store stole $55 from me and is fighting to keep the stolen money. Here is my story. I bought a lot of media at a 50% off sale (over 100 items). However then I got home I saw that I was incorrectly rung up with 10 books priced at $12.99 instead of 2.99 before the 50% off. This is an extra $50 charge - or $55 after 10% tax. I live an hour away so I called the store hoping to sort it out for a store credit mailed to me. The employee I talked to told me to call back. I called back and left a message. My call was never returned. So I filed a chargeback on the credit card I used. They ARE NOW FIGHTING WITH THE CREDIT CARD TO KEEP THE $55 THEY STOLE FROM ME! This is the first place I look when I need another pair of pants. Why pay full price when there is a good chance I'll find something perfectly good here? It's a gamble, of course: you never know what you find. I am gradually building my collection of free weights from what I get here - for less than 10% the price of buying new. Older weight lift the same as new! Pay attention to the colored tags! Once I came in on a 99 cent day and got a two-year supply of pants for less than a Starbucks! P.S. The staff are super friendly. I can't believe I didn't come here cause they got 2 stars on here until now!!! Wow.. I think it's unfair that they still only get 2 stars with all the changes and upgrades in 2017! This store is really close to my home and I wasn't really interested to go there cause I rely on Yelp stars and reviews too much.. Today I was late for my bus and had to wait 30 more mins for the next one so I thought why not? And once I get there I see lots of clothes and quite a few of people shopping in there. Also a sign everywhere saying "Pink tag $1.29"! It was clean, organized, well maintain just as good as goodwill. And one special thing about them is that they don't overly crowd all the same items on one shell, they display it with a theme! Example, gold fine dining plates, they put it with similar plates, forks, cups and napkins to show how you can make it work and look good together! What a bonus! It's Ikea show room in Ikea which gives you ideas for your home! Also all the pants and clothes are clean and within a reasonable price. I thought I will see something over $20 for a shirt cause reviews here saying they are expensive as a thrift shop. NO! The most expensive I saw for a shirt is $7.99! Really people? That's expensive?! Also cheapest I see is $2.99 (which is in a pink tag = $1.29 even cheaper!!!) And did I even mention they are quite good quality and some clothes are expensive brands there! I just feel SO BAD cause I actually listened to the reviews instead of actually going there and see if it's really that bad myself. Turned out It's great! And I love it! I love thrift hunts and this is that close to my place? I'm gonna come here more often now. Maybe not as ideal as goodwill cause they don't have very new, modern stuff.. but it's sure NOT pricey and comfortable to shop there. Recommended!!! read more

OK, I feel like I need to pipe up to balance out the one-star reviews! True, St. Vinnie's stores in general are older and more run-down than Seattle Goodwill. And yes, their normal prices can be high if you don't catch them during a sale. But I still think you should give them a chance if you're thrifting in the Burien/White Center area. Pros: - Large store with lots of men's clothes and furniture - Good book selection and prices - 50% off sales make everything in the store a deal Cons: - Kind of ratty and run-down - Not a lot of quality control on what goes out on shelves - Regular prices can be are-you-kidding-me high Because of the randomness of the stuff they stock, it's a great place to go for Halloween costume inspiration and materials. They also have a pretty decent craft/sewing section for notions and supplies. This store was actually renovated and reorganized not too long ago, and it's cleaner and better lit than it used to be, so if it's been a while since you went in, you might be pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit this one, but if you're in Burien and St. Vinnie's is having a sale, it's worth checking out. read more

Horrible experience. My son spent $5 of his own money on a DS game. We came home to find out the cartridge was not inside. I called to ask if perhaps the cartridges were behind the counter. I was told it was our responsibilty to check the package before we left so in a nutshell we are screwed. No feelings of remorse from them. Not too sure why their staff can't look inside cases as a precaution. Now I have a sad kid who has an empty game case and is out $5. read more

Overpriced and the customer service is pretty much awful. I was witness to the most ridiculous argument with a customer who didn't speak very good English and three employees, one supposedly being some kind of manager. That were incredibly rude to him and wouldn't even take a second to try and listen to him when he had tried to explain that another manager from earlier in the day had approved him buying these awful looking, half the buds missing, fake flowers for literally 50 cents less then what was being asked for. I mean that would have been a good sale because then they would have gotten that awful item, that really should have been in the trash, out of their store and a satisfied customer. I mean it was 50 cents! I also got to witness, after having to wait a long time for this other ordeal to get settled, the cashiers boyfriend stand in front of me and make out, for a sec mind you, before moving to the side, no apologizes, so I could get rung up. Except for the fact that he then stood literally 2.5 feet away from me and continued to talk to her and try to give her more kisses whilst she rung me up! I'm not a mean, old, bitter, loveless lady but come on now! I did however find a pretty rad chair and the gentleman that helped me get it to my car was super great. But they just had too much stuff that was no good, it seems as though they just put whatever was donated to them on the sales floor even if it shouldn't be there with out actually looking the items over. read more

I am lucky to live so close to so many thrift stores in Burien. I go to all of them except this one because everything is so overpriced. They seem to use up a lot of valuable space on furniture that doesn't move off the site. Most of it priced too high compared to the other places in town. Other St. Vincent de Pauls are great though and the purchases made here go towards a good cause.....better than buying new. read more

This place used to be a good bet if you needed an everyday kind of item for cheap. Not anymore. I've been going there for the past several weeks and the prices for everything now are pretty crazy high. I realize that they want to make some money on the nicer items, but pretty boring or even damaged items are priced as though it's a high-end retail shop. I was in a few weeks ago and someone loudly commented on how high the prices were and the blond woman behind the counter got very offended and loudly defended the pricing. I can tell you that not many items are moving at the prices they have on them. Many items were in the same spots after a month. For example, a large coffee table tray from the 1990s with a huge chip on the corner for $30? And, a very boring metal mid century chair with very dirty fabric on the seat for $45? And, a boring mid century barometer for $20? All three items were in the exact same spots after a month. No one is going to pay these prices for outdated and/or damaged items when they can go to Marshall's and pay the same amount (or less) for something new and undamaged. Also, not many of the items that are donated here would resell well if you were trying to make money reselling IMHO. Why aren't they looking at the sold prices for similar items on eBay when they're trying to establish their prices? I took a quick glance for mid century barometers on eBay and many were listed for $10 or less and were not selling at those prices. Wouldn't you want to get these items sold so you could get new items out on the shelves??? I think they're taking themselves too seriously there. So many of the tags said "RARE" in all caps. It's a shame, too, because they could be making so much more if they just priced appropriately. Probably won't be back for a while. read more

Interesting shop -- some values could be found if you look for them. Positives: for a small to medium sized shop, it does offer a wide selection of merchandise, including furnishings, some electronics, accessories, sporting goods, and of course, clothes. Negatives: parking can be an issue. They have a small parking area on the north side of their building and some nose-in parking is available off of 1st. Also, from my experience, you have to dig through a lot of stuff and sometimes find a lot of stuff that was donated for a reason -- missing buttons, an obvious stain, missing parts, etc. As a result, I didn't find what I needed today. read more

This is the worst thrift store I have ever been to. Way, way too high of prices for junk, if you really want to pay 1.99 for used plastic cups then this is the place for you. They are simply way over priced. We are talking $500 for icky couches. Parking is also an issue, there are not many spaces available. If you're really looking for a good bargain don't bother coming here, make the drive to Goodwill it will treat you better. read more

Have been coming by about once a month for a few years. I typically shop for furniture, electronics and records. Furniture - decent selection, seems to turn over, prices are okay but not great. Electronics - hit and miss like any thrift store - used to have good prices but in the last month I have noticed that someone has taken over pricing - seems like they check to see what the highest sold price was on Ebay and go with it. There have been some vintage speakers there that have been sitting untaken for a few months now. $180 for some beat up Kenwood 888s? Nope. Records - decent number but rarely gets new stock - you would think someone could go through and get rid of the empty and broken ones. read more

This used to be my favorite store. At some point in the past two years they started pricing things way to high. They price all their beat up merchendise, including things like vinyl records, like they are gently used and clean. It is cheaper to buy most things new at Walmart than to buy them grimmed up and missing parts at SVDP. There are better thrift stores in the area for sure. read more

I remember coming here often about 2-3 years ago and they always had great merchandise at great prices with frequent pricing sales on certain days. Well, a lot has changed since then when i found myself in the area with some time to kill. There was so much junk in there at ridiculous retail pricing that i was surprised at the number of shoppers in the store. Then i realized 90% of the people in there were actually employees. Bottom line, i know it's a charity store like Goodwill, but if you want to move your product and make a profit, you need to price the majority of your second hand items at competitive price points. 99% of the items i saw in the store were priced at or ABOVE retail. I saw used hammers, shelves, picture frames, nails, tv wall mounts, kids toys, etc., that were marked at prices higher than i would pay at stores like grocery outlet, amazon, walmart, or Kohls. WHO is in charge of the pricing??? Fix it or you will end up with less foot traffic read more

Been going to this place for years. Yes it has a history of being disorganized, sometimes dirty and the prices can be high sometimes. I consider that ALL the money goes toward Family Support Centers, Education and Training, Food Recovery and Distribution Programs, Temporary Housing and you provide funds which subsidizes rent and utility payments for clients. I like this! I will negotiate occasionally with a manger for a little off if I KNOW it is going to end up in markdown because its overpriced, but not often, and I am always respectful of them trying to keep the profit up for these good causes. I went last nite and the place was well organized, clean (for a building that is so old) and the people very pleasant. Great deals but you have to look for them. The place can look like a hurricane it after a busy day but this is because clientele being inconsiderate, not hanging stuff back up, throwing things out of bins while digging and allowing children to run free. I see this in every thrift shop I go to anyway though! If you need furniture., medical equipment, Christmas stuff, very helpful and good prices. Some mattresses, always very clean. I've always had great service with friendly staff at this SVD store. I find something unusual or new (donated by a store) that needs to come home with me. If you are offended by "old" smells I wouldn't shop at any thrift store. I would check their sales otherwise the prices can be high, but they are sometimes willing to negotiate. read more

This St Vincent DePaul store is the worst by far than any SVDP I have ever been in. First of all staff are extremely fluid. I guess we go back into the store hoping for a new experience each time or to find a good deal but 9 times out of ten we leave the store frustrated. Things are extremely over priced, management and staff are constantly changing and they are typically pretty rude. When asked to negotiate on a ridiculous price the previous manager held fast to his argument of the material being quality and only came down a dollar. We found the same item, newer and in better condition on craigslist. They had a vintage looking dresser that was obviously donated in the store for sale today for $1900. I understand trying to make money but lets be real, the people shopping at that store in this area are trying to afford clothing and household items. They are over the top if you ask me. Also, the store is usually pretty dirty along with the items for sale. It is too bad really because there aren't a lot of thrift stores in the area. Just them and goodwill. I can guarantee that goodwill takes all their business. read more
