I have an online thrift store. I spend a lot of money at thrift stores for my inventory. While shopping today, Wednesday 8-30-2023, I wanted to look at some dollhouse furniture. At the same time, a volunteer wanted to get into that very small corner. No excuse me, just a loud sigh & dirty look!! The ladies checking out were so busy gossiping about another volunteer that they could not say hello or thank you or even acknowledge I was there!! Great display of your Christian values!! I've removed this story from my list when I'm in the Appleton area.

This is an excellent place for hipsters, those who love irony, people with any kind of sense of humor, tourists visiting Appleton, if you need a costume, ska musicians, parents visiting their costly college students (whatever they want in here won't set you back much, and there's lots of conversation starters in here), 50-year olds looking for the sports jacket they wore in 1976, theater people, protesters looking for their rights (you won't find your stolen rights in here, but you can find some cheap gloves and warm hats so you can protest a little longer, and some antique Nixon era ironic buttons that have renewed relevance), and anyone who needs a disguise.

Very overpriced. You can get better prices at the local antique malls. For example here is a…read morevintage blue pitcher priced at $15. It caught my eye because I own the same one. I think I paid $4 or less at another thrift store. I've seen the same item several times for around $10 at the antique malls. The Echoes tag says this item goes for up to $35 online. This isn't even true. I checked the recent eBay sold listings and it's actually selling for around $6-$8. This store also attempted to sell two fully decorated Christmas trees with storage containers for $300 each. Do you go to a small Christian thrift store looking to spend $300? I don't. The tree has sat there since November. It's now the "bargain price" of $100, four days before Christmas. Most people are not looking to buy a decorated tree this close to Christmas. Had it been priced at $100 - instead of $300 - back in November then maybe it would have sold!?

I went back the next day to exchange a shirt and I asked the lady for an extra bag and told her I'd pay for it if it wasn't free and she made a big deal about it. Then she threw the bag at me after I purchased the other shirt. I will never spend my hard earned money there EVER again.

I bought a Sherpa…read morepullover for my daughter here on Small Business Saturday, intending to give it as a Christmas gift. As a first time shopper, I asked about the return policy and was told it could be returned for in-store credit. The sleeves proved too short, so I tried to return the purchase today. Initially the cashier said there was a 10 day return policy on clothing and refused the return. I explained the information I had been given, but since it was seasonal, she would only make an exception to exchange it for the same clothing item. She referred me to the back of the price tag, which does explain the policy; but what I was verbally told was different. Well, a larger size doesn't have longer sleeves, but since I had no alternative, I made an exchange. I said that as a first time shopper, it didn't give me a good impression of the store. Nothing more was said. (BTW, the item is now on sale for 20% off vs my 10% discount. Bottom line, I thought this might become a store I would shop frequently, but now I will not return. I try to shop local, but with policies like this, it's no wonder larger stores are winning the retail race.
