Workers are always pleasant. The store itself is well kept which I appreciate since this location seems to see a lot of foot traffic which can be a disaster if not constantly tended to. Huge selection of clothes. Definitely agree that there's not a huge selection of men's clothes but it's adequate if you need something quick. The price you get for a dress pants or suit jacket can't be beat. Toys for 50 cents?! Say less. My one complaint is that there is so much stuff jam packed into the electronics and outdoor stuff area that I would love to see it be spread out some more somehow. read more

A true charity store, that prices basic items very reasonably. Sometimes they are overzealous with furniture and items they deem to be antiques or somewhat valuable, and those items sit for many months unpurchased. I am happy to donate to them because they continue to fulfill their mission for helping people in need by providing inexpensive, donated products. Four stars, because sometimes it is hard to donate there, as they limit donations to five bags, and often close their donation driveway. That makes it very inconvenient, and considering their shelves are not usually full they should find a way to take in more donations. read more

On my travels through Port Orchard I glimpsed a St. Vince De P out the corner of my eye. Exit stage right into the parking lot which was kind of desolate as there isn't really anything worth value in the parking lot. Anyway, as I entered the store it just look like a lot of random general crap on the shelves, not good crap, but random non-good crap (half used votive candles, rusty spatulas, a variety of sizes and shapes of glassware, salt & pepper shakers) all that was about 25 cents. All this stuff is on actual counters and not like some dump bin of the "fill your own bag" kinda thing. I walked right past the crap and got down to business. I will say the prices here are really actually quite good for the types of items there. Now when I say I got down to business, I usually go for movies, clothes, & sometimes kitchenware or shoes. The movies where 49 cents which seemed to be a standard at other thrift stores in the area so obviously I have to fill a few bags on that one. They had a really good book section too. The clothes I kind of perused with my eyes only because I wasn't seeing anything worth physically touching. Now the ladies section properly has a few things but I'm not looking for ladieswear. They had a lot of electronics and the TVs were way cheap. I think they were having a green or pink ticket sale and they had TV's for like $9.99 for any size and if you're a techie or electro-person you could probably find gidgets and gadgets to help fix your other gidgets & gadgets at home here. I didn't find a very nice sharp mandolin for slicing fruits/vegs for $4. And all their pots/pans/plates/glassware were very cheap. I got to the reg and cashier decided to give me the mandolin for $2. Yussssssssssssss! So basically it was a good haul. I got 20 videos for $10. Thanks Vince De Paul. If you get past the general look of the place and the look of some of the items, it's really not that bad. read more

This is my favorite store. If I need a kitchen appliance or some such, I can find it there within three weeks. They have a high turn-around on items, so there are always different things to see. And the prices are fantastic! I sometimes go to retail stores to buy things (shirts, shoes, games, books, etc.) Saint Vincent's almost always has a great selection. I get stacks of paperbacks there for .50 each. The staff is always helpful. read more

I was sad to see the move because that old building they were in had a bit of romance to it. The new building looks prefab. But apparently their old location was unsalvageable since it was immediately torn down, so I suppose they're very happy to have a sound structure with reliable wiring. But no waterfront view in back any longer! In restocking a new location they upped prices just a hair; it's still about the most affordable Deluxe Junque shop around. I always find items in my somewhat eccentric areas of interest, and feel like they cost a pittance. I'll just always be a fan of any St Vincent de Paul anywhere, and will continue to visit this one on a regular basis. read more

Used to be my favorite place. Made a lot of donations, and bought a lot of stuff. But now that they're in the new building I found out the manager takes all the good donations for himself and sells them on sites like ebay to make extra money for himself. I'll never donate or shop there again. Bad as goodwill now. read more

I go often as well as donate often. However, I have started to notice that there is never really anything of value. I also have yet to see the things I have donated on the shelves. I love this store and have gone for years,, I grew up going to this store with my mother. It just seems so disorganized and dirty...and the quality of items seems to always be the same. This thrift store has a nice variety of items available. The store is easy to get in and out of (unless you're turning left onto Bay St.). I have found good deals on some items here ranging from electric keyboards to kitchen items. Buyer beware, though. Be sure to check out the electrical items prior to purchasing them. A great time to shop here is around the year-end holiday season. They usually have a nice variety of decorations available. I have tried to donate twice to St. Vinnie's and received difficulty in return. Go figure. read more

The best thing about this thrift store is that it has been around a long time. They have a lot of great old stuff. Some of their prices are high, like their VHS movies for $2.99. Pretty tough to justify that when Hollywood Video is blowing out their DVD's at 10 for $10. But I really like their book section, and they have some good computer accessories. Cables, printers, and even some software. (check for scratches). Check it out if you get a chance! read more

I visit this thrift shop at least once a week, sometimes more. The items are very decently priced for a second hand store especially in comparison to goodwill. The staff is always kind and friendly. I also love that they have a punch card for every $10 you spend they give you a punch, when you get to $100 they give you $10 off your next purchase. read more

Largest thrift store in the area. They do a huge volume, so if you see something you like, get it right away. It's not going to be there long. Great sales, great service (especially Heather?), clean bathrooms, and a tiny coffee shop inside. The prices are the best around. No, it's not pretty (it's a prefab steel building), but the employees do their best to create attractive displays. Absolutely my favorite place to shop. read more

I have got to stick up for St. Vinnie's, here. I go in every day and I love the silly little store. I can always find something to buy [I'm an artist and junque dealer], and I just love many of the people who work there. Yes it doesn't have a lot of stuff, not like the Goodwill. And it is right above the tide line so it does smell often, that's the bay, not the store. They give out free bread, often. Prices are good and you can negotiate on some things. Parking is always easy. I find everything I want there, eventually. read more

I used to go to this Saint Vinnie's quite a bit, mostly for books. I'm a big book reader and collector. The selection used to be very good; they always had the typical common Danielle Steel books, etc. but about every other time I'd find something really different and interesting. The last year or two, the selection of books has gotten very poor. I don't know if it's because the guy who used to do this left for another job, or what. If I had to guess, I think that as the books come in, they are either being cherry picked with an employee selling online or on Craig's List (for benefit of Saint Vinnie's, I presume and hope), or are being sold to one of those third-party companies that purports to buy books for "charitable" purposes. Certainly, the reading interests of the surrounding community(the donors) have not changed. It doesn't matter the reason why good books are no longer being put on the bookshelves for patrons to buy, except that if the store managers think they are making more money by not selling them directly to patrons, they are wrong. Most book lovers, and book dealers for that matter, know by instinct that something is amiss, and after several or many disappointing visits, quit coming to the store for books. I don't begrudge Saint Vinnie's for trying to maximize its donation proceeds through back-door book dealings/sales, but when I think of all the donations that I used to bring in when I used to come (and the other stuff I bought along with the books), I wonder if the managers have a clue what the true cost is of just putting out junk books. Most likely, there's been a substantial loss of business and donations, but the recession masks all this. I continue to come in about once every two months to see if things have changed. So far, I don't see anything to indicate that my impression is incorrect, unfortunately. read more

It is Full of OLD stuff...yes it smells Musty...because it is Full of OLD Stuff...I love going into Thrift stores...because it is Full of OLD stuff....it has lots of Great Bargins...you find things that are odd and no longer in use...you find HISTORY... you find bits and pieces of an OLD dinner set...or pieces of an OLD Tea set ...you find Silverware patterns from an OLD set that you are missing pieces from... I looked up this website just to find the store hours and I do not see those listed. While i'm here i'll leave a quick review though. I agree that the outside of the store and the interior are gloomy and the first time I stopped here I was tempted to head for the door ,but I do like this charity, I donate often here so decided to take a look. I am glad that I did. They have very good prices on books. All clothes are only 99 cents with the exception of a few type items such as jackets. I have found some beautiful picture frames and glassware at this store and recently a sweet 3 foot high Queen Anne style jewelry type of dresser for only $15(a few small cracks in the legs easily repaired). So if you can get past the look of the place and the inevitable smell which I find most thrift stores have I think this store is worth the occasional stop and look. read more

St. Vincent de Paul thrift store is small, but the prices are reasonable for most items. Some of the furniture is overpriced, but there are some that are in excellent condition. If you are just starting out, or looking for kitchenware and clothing at cheap prices, this is the place for you. What is remarkable is that St. Vincent's WILL DELIVER for a fee (this alone is unusual, but what a great service) especially if you are looking to buy a large furniture item. Price for delivery depends on what you are buying....if you find several items that you have to have, it pays to get everything delivered at one time! Cheapest thrift store for VHS tapes and used books in Port Orchard. You can go in every day and selection of donated items is always changing. On the last Saturday of each month, the store has a $3 bag sale for clothing (coats and shoes aren't included, but what the heck....you can't get everything!), I have bought 4 outfits (including socks and a NEW hat!!) for $3!!!! Try getting that at goodwill or arc thrift stores....EVER! Staff is great, friendly and helpful. I will say that during special sales (like Easter or Christmas) it can get packed. So get there and wait for a bit, it's definitely worth the wait! read more

This is one of the last true Thrift Stores. I am NOT interested in a "boutique shop", just good usable stuff for fixing up/decorating/wearing on a tight budget. It is hard to keep a "neat" arrangement when no 2 items are really alike. If that is what you want then go to Walmart. read more

I just spoke with the manager about having them come and pick up a lot of great furniture and other items I would like to donate. I was told that they cannot get onto the military base I live on. I told him that I cleared it with the base security and that they indeed have base access. I was told it wouldn't be cost effective for them to come and get FREE items. He said that it takes too long because they would have to have an inspection once the truck gets to the gate. Sounds like laziness to me. Or perhaps the drivers aren't legal. Either way, they would be able to collect quite a lot of donations if they did indeed come on base. read more

let me tell you what happened to me today at the store...I always leave Bremerton to catch the ferry over to the port orchard to shop st. Vincent DePaul store...always had a great time shopping there..and have spent a lot of mt state earned income there...when people travel back and forth on the ferry ,many will take a large tote bag with a book ,a bottle of water,even an extra pair off pants(if like me you have a bladder problem)which you really don't want to share with anyone...now mind you my boyfriend had gone to see his son for a few days and I was to met him back at the ferry and then go to dinner..i had in my bag ..my reg.extra bottoms and a nice top to wear to dinner..all of this packed into my tote bag..which they have seen me carry lots of times into the store...I make my purchases..including a baby bassenett..and walk out the door..soon after I hear ..excuse me mam...excuse me..i turn and the manager is telling me to step in his office..i asked ..what is this about?..he told me that he had it on tape that my tote was fatter on the way out of the store than on the way in...I was shocked!...I had to empty my purse while explaining to him that the things in my bag belonged to me...he said he was going to have to call the police..i have never been so un nerved in my life!...I asked him not to do that ,,it would be very hard to deal with because I have panic attacks..which came on very quickly ,,and by now I was in one full blown!..i had a set of knitting needles in my tote that I had bought there a few days before..i sell things on ebay..I took them with me to compare sizes..so I wouldn't get the same size again..i don't know that much about knitting needles..but I wanted to make sure I didn't get the same size...he accused me of stealing them..they cost all of 50 cents a pair...I have spent over the course of two months close to two hundred dollars at that store..do I need to steal needles? let alone anything else...I am very upset that I would be looked at as a common thief..i have been a hospice nurse for 22 years..and worked for the state..in which you have to have a background check every year..im saddened and appauled at this matter...and want to seek an attorney's advice thanks for listening..god bless read more

I love St. Vinnie's, and it has been my favorite affordable thrift shop in Port Orchard. However, lately the prices on many things seem to have skyrocketed beyond poor person means, and leans more towards "the rich" who are slumming for a bargain and can afford what is to them "lower" prices than "Rich" shops. Which is sad, because if stores would have the courage to lower their prices, they would clean off the shelves of merchandise, because we could afford to buy. Dressers I paid $10 for, even 3 years ago are now between $55 and $100, because they are all wood and not the compressed junk. For heaven's sakes, for a person who can't even afford to pay the normal household bills and feed the cats that were dumped off at my place, how do they expect us to shop at the store when we only have $10 budgeted to spend in the first place? I still love the store, the clerks and men who pick up our donations, are all courteous and great. I don't mind at all the "junky" look---in fact, I don't like the new "modern" look of thrift stores like Goodwill, which doesn't have "heart and soul" like St. Vinnie's. Not to mention, I share my last name with them....I just don't understand greed in any form, and "high prices" to me denotes greed. In the old days, the 50's, folks were content to get 10 % of the price as their profit---now it's 100 %. So more than not, these days, I walk out of the store empty-handed, and it is taking me longer to fill my $10 rewards card.
