Another alum here. Heed this warning and please don't send your child to this school if you want them to thrive emotionally. I started at SV in kindergarten, and the first few years weren't bad. I was a kid, I made friends, I was happy, and I learned the alphabet and how to read. Everything was going great. Then COVID hit, and everything just degraded from there. Our sports teams used to be very good, but now that whoever signs up gets in and the coaches are parent volunteers who kind of struggle, the teams had a habit of holding up unfortunate losing streaks. How the teams does is based on the athletic ability of its players. If they suck, the team will inevitably suck. I speak from the perspective of a former student-athlete who partook in some of the very few sports available. Then there is the case of the academics. On the bright side, my class was blessed with excellent junior-high teachers, much so our eight grade home room teacher. The way some of the teachers taught while I was in middle school made me so confused and unprepared for high school. I had to seek the help of my peers who had to learn the math lessons themselves and ask them for the formula. It also didn't help that math was and never will be my strong suit. Some of the staff got a little too comfortable and spoke to the student in ways their peers would to them. They are also double-sided like the edge of a sword, showing kindness one second and tearing you out the next. Some may say that acting in a way that makes the teacher seem like they are of the same generation of the student towards them would make them more comfortable with that teacher, but I strongly disagree. The staff are there as ADULTS who must be role models to these students who are still developing their prefrontal lobe. I became very uncomfortable with the way these teachers spoke to myself and my peers, thus making me want nothing more than to graduate asap. It shouldn't make a difference now that I've moved on to an excellent school that I love, but I fear for the future generations. Despite being ipad kids, they deserve to have a good education as a youth and to have proper support. They deserve to have role models that make them want to follow in their footsteps in the future. They deserve to understand every math lesson in the way I never really did. Even if they don't understand that lesson, they should feel comfortable enough to go to the teachers on their own time and seek help. Bad things out of the way (I haven't mentioned all of them but this should be enough), I did love the friends that I found there. The school community is small, which is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing being that you get more individualized attention (if at all) and you're more likely to be friends with your entire class, curse being that if you have drama (trust me, all sixth graders will get into drama) then you can't have anybody to turn to if you have a horrible falling-out or if everybody just hates you. The last part is kind of your problem. I was lucky that I had friends to confide in and ones that were very close to me. Despite having to part with some of them, I'd say that they were the good things that happened to me in my years of going to this school. If you didn't read the whole thing, here's the summary of what I just wrote. Don't send your kid here. Even if you live close by, you might as well send them to Sierramont. If you really want to go to a private school that bad, send them to SJB or something. read more

I don't even know what to say. This place is INCREDIBLE. First, the staff is well trained and are nice to their students. Second, the curriculum is amazing. I'm currently in 6th grade and I'm learning Ratios in 6th grade. All of the classrooms are designed nicely for kids and the school is well decorated. Lastly, the students there are nice. Saint Victor School is making kids into lifelong learners, child of faith, and a caring and responsible citizen. If you want your kids to grow up happy and healthy, then this school is for you. read more

Please don't send your kids here unless you want them to grow up sad, depressed, and miserable. After the years I've been in this school, it's lowkey trash--and I mean it. The number one thing that's terrible about this school is the teachers (all subjects). First off, some teachers here just use the internet for everything, barely teaching us anything themselves and just showing us videos. Sure, I did learn something from the videos, but still, I learned barely anything. Others kinda know what they're doing by giving us actually useful information and teaching us properly. One example was our English teacher--I learned a lot from them. Then again, maybe that's just because the English teacher before was too busy trying to be our therapist to actually teach us anything. But hey, at least I learned something, I guess. Then there's the type of teacher who knows what they're doing and actually does their job, teaching us like a teacher should. The downside? They've got mood swings like crazy--one moment they're jolly and chill, and the next, it's like they've got a stick up their... well, you know. Like, why are you so moody? And then there's the one who doesn't know wtf they're doing. Like, why did bro assign us homework we didn't even understand? And when we went to them for help, they were like, "Oh, you're learning that next week." Bro, what do you mean next week?! Do you not check the homework you give us? 'Cause last I checked, you're the one who's supposed to review it. *(See how it changed from "them" to "you"?) And finally, there are the teachers who love getting glazed up. My annoying classmates be like when someone's in trouble: "WhY dId YoU dO tHaT? tHaT's sOoOo wRoNg! WhY dId YoU dO tHaT? iSn't ThAt RiGhT, [Teacher's Name]? tHaT's uNaCcEpTaBlE!" And the teacher's just like, "hAhAhAhA I kNoW rIgHt? " That same teacher was also super racist, and I really didn't like them. Like, they said they taught in a Chinese class and thought "Ni Hao" meant quiet. First of all, if you're teaching in an all-Chinese class, you should at least know basic Mandarin--or even just a tiny bit of the language. You thought "Ni Hao" meant quiet? You know full well it means hello! And the fact that my class laughed at that racist story really says something about what we've actually learned here. That same teacher was like, "Some of you guys aren't going to like your report cards. " Like, okay bro, do whatever. I really couldn't care less--make us run a lap or something, 'cause you definitely don't know how to play/teach this sport. So yeah, looking back, I barely learned anything from this school. Now that I'm going to high school, I absolutely feel unprepared as heck. What amazing teachers they've hired!!! read more

Please do not send your kids here!!!! My years at St Victor were extremely disappointing. Staff rarely does anything affective in response to bullying, academics hardly prepare you for high school courses, and (some not all) teachers will treat you as if they are teenagers as well. I did have access to an amazing 8th grade home room teacher along with a counselor that helped me guide all the emotional trauma i had experienced from being at this school. For instance in my last year at St Victor, a student had put crushed up led into my water bottle, it was very scary because nobody likes to feel targeted or bullied. You could only imagine how unsafe i felt when he got away with his reasoning being "I don't know" and having to apologize to me, which this took several days. My mom made it in her best efforts for more to be done and the best thing we got was a new water bottle from the child's mom. No expulsion, no suspension, just a forced apology and a new water bottle. I really hope this review helps you when deciding where to send your children, because I just don't know how this could be advertised as a school that raises children of faith. read more

We have been attending St. Victor since pre-school and the teachers and entire faculty has always treated all the students like their own, and as a parent, that is always very reassuring. Not only are they very attentive, they create a bond with each child that makes them feel confident. Having a smaller class size means the teachers are able to focus on each of their individual growth and able to help them if needed. Not only are the teachers and faculty great, the parents and their involvement and participation in every school activity, fundraisers, sports, and other events and gatherings as a community is amazing as well. I am confident that my child will continue to thrive with the proper guidance the school provides. Each year we see a lot of changes and great improvements within the school as they continue to grow. St. Victor school is a Catholic K-8th grade school with 300 students and a tuition of $9.4k ($6.7k for Parish families). This is a tight knit community school where everyone seems to know one another. I was impressed at how the 8th graders fund raise for their field trip to Washington D.C. The middle school does retreats which really helps bond the classmates together spiritually. They seem to genuinely care about one another and you don't see the normal bullying type behavior found in many schools here. I did laugh that one the application packet I found in addition to the usual list of family obligations the requirement that you be available to bake! I can't bake to save my life!! Guess the school must do a lot of bake sales to raise money. It made me smile and I figured if we sent our kids here I would have to con the wife or another family here to do my portion of the baking in exchange for yard duty or something. Being a catholic school I'm sure some sort of arrangement could be made unless they really want to sell my burnt cookies! read more

St. Victor is an outstanding Catholic school (from K-8), with most wonderful faculty and staff that I've ever seen. They have the most professional, caring, and loving teachers of any of the other private schools that I visited for my nephew. My nephew came from China three years ago with limited English skills. Before his arrival, I contacted over 40 private schools and actually visited over 20 of them. When I visited St. Victor, I was so impressed by their professionalism and the efficiency of application process so that we gave up all the applications with other schools. Transferring an international student from China can be a very complicated and frustrating experience. Their Principal, Mrs. Wolfe, and her assistant, Mrs. Huey, patiently assisted me with the application process. Because of their efficiency and kind assistance, I was able to obtain the official documentation from the San Jose Diocese within one day. From the day I contacted St. Victor school to the day we obtained an all required official documents took us about 20 days. Normally, it would take 2-3 months for professional agencies who bring overseas students to the States. And it all because of the high efficiency of their faculty and staff. I consider my nephew's one year experience with St. Victor School as an 8th grader to be the best year of his life. All the teachers there are so loving and caring. He was SO much cared by all the teachers there. They helped him to the best of their ability, and to be the best he could be. I can imagine how busy those teacher are, with a school full of students, teaching assignments, faculty meetings, and their own family life. However, when I expressed my worries about my nephew's English skills to his teachers, his classroom teachers Mr. Quaresma, Mrs. Hinkle, Mr. Rim, Mrs. Garg, Mrs. Tan, and Mrs. Yang, all offered their help generously, with no hesitation at all. They responded to my questions right away. They came to school earlier in the morning to help my nephew with private sessions, paired my family up with a student's family on clarifying homework, and even scheduled regular classes to help my nephew during his summer break after he graduated from there. All other staff members and teachers treated us with kind-hearts as well. Mrs. Wolf and her entire faculty and staff not only helped my nephew, a newly immigrated student, to adapt to a new school environment as smoothly as they could, they provided the best quality of education to their students along with a safe, fair, and bully-free environment. We miss their dedication, loving and caring school culture. If I have 100 choices for my nephew's 8th grade, I would choose 100 times to stay with St. Victor with no doubt at all. Through those teachers, I experienced America's cultural spirit, to love and care about others. This is my first Yelp review and I am writing it with full gratitude and appreciation toward those teachers whom we miss so often and so much. Three factors were important for us: enriched academic opportunities, nurturing staff and friendly community, and extra curricular activities. St. Victor provides all three. The school provides a well balance curriculum for my kids to thrive. The class sizes are small, which allows individual attention if needed. The school encourages appropriate parental involvement. St. Victor has a strong athletic program. They offer flag football, volleyball, basketball, and track & field. The environment feels safe and secure. read more
