Great Beginnings is the best of the best when it comes to preschools and kindergarten programs…read more Both of my daughters started in the 2-1/2 yr old program and I intend for both of them to complete every age level including their private kindergarten program ( my eldest has already completed GBCP & K's full program and is in our local elementary school ). I have seen the teachers here recognize learning, emotional and/ or behavioral disabilities before a primary care physician and/or pediatrician. This is done from experience alone. The director, Jill Pfendner, connects to each and every student and family on a personal level, and the teachers become more like family rather than staff member ( my eldest has loved each and everyone of her teachers so much that she herself went to Jill Pfendner herself, and asked that her little sister be placed with a specific teacher ). They have play based learning with structure so that if your LO goes straight from GBCP & K to either a kindergarten program or 1st grade ( my daughter went straight to first grade but about half of her K class, of 14, went on to repeat K in their local public / private school and the other half went onto 1st grade into their prospective schools) they are able to adapt easily to the changes of a larger school. The school has onsite and offsite field trips for most if not all of the classes. The Kindergarten class alone when on 3 field trips in the first 2.5 months of school alone! They support / visit our local nursing / assisted / adult day care ( which is located next door ) in the area which has been clinically proven to improve social, vocab, emotional skills and behaviors with both the children and residents.

La Petite has been a wonderful experience for our family. Due to a job change, my husband and I had to find a new daycare for our boy which made us so nervous, we were sick to our stomach. That horrible feeling vanished the moment we walked into La Petite. We happened to stumble upon La Petite accidentally so we did not have an appointment, but we decided to go in anyway to get some basic information. We were greeted by the Director Shannon who was very warm and inviting. Shannon gave us a tour of the facility herself, provided us with a pamphlet of information, and answered everyone of my million questions. Before leaving, she scheduled an appointment with us to come back, meet the teacher/assistant, and drop our boy off for a few hours to see how he adjusted to the environment. After this little meet-&-greet, we knew WITHOUT a doubt that this was the school for him/us. I DO NOT WORRY FOR ONE SECOND WHILE HE'S AWAY FROM ME AT SCHOOL. I KNOW THAT HIS TEACHER, MS. CLOE IS TREATING HIM LIKE HER OWN, KEEPING HIM SAFE, ACTIVE, & HAPPY. SHE KNOWS HIM AND HIS BEHAVIORS SO WELL, IF HE STARTS ACTING STRANGELY, OR HIS DEMEANOR SUDDENLY CHANGES; I GET A PHONE CALL TO UPDATE ME ON HIS STATUS. All of the staff members that I have had a chance to meet so far are very friendly, professional, helpful, and loving. The facility is always clean, well kept, and organized.

Two coworkers witnessed the situation, and I was deeply disappointed with how my concerns were handled afterward. Based on my experience, I felt the school did not respond appropriately to the reports I made. I personally contacted ChildLine and filed a police report because I believed the matter needed to be taken seriously. From my understanding of the investigation process, authorities ultimately had to obtain a search warrant/subpoena in order to access the surveillance footage related to the incident. That alone deeply concerned me as a parent and former employee. From my understanding, the footage reportedly had no audio, which made it difficult for investigators to determine exactly what occurred. However, two former coworkers also provided statements regarding what they witnessed. After everything that happened, I made the decision to resign and remove my son from the program. To my knowledge, the teacher involved is still employed there. I can only speak from my own personal experience, but I would not recommend this establishment to other parents. While there are some staff members there who truly care about children and do their jobs well, I did not feel supported or confident in the administration's handling of serious concerns involving child safety. I understand others may have different experiences, but I felt it was important to share mine in hopes that parents stay informed and advocate for their children.
