If you decide to drive the pot-hole laden, austere Irish loop all or part of the way, or simply out…read moreto Cape Spear the Mini Aquarium in Petty Harbour is worth a stop or small detour. First of all, Petty Harbour has to be one of the largest and most picturesque towns in southern Newfoundland. You can actually find a bite to eat and some scenic photo spots here. The Mini Aquarium is indeed a small place. As you come into Petty Harbour you will see its sign on the side of the building and have little trouble getting there. Inside there are two small rooms with about 20-25 tanks of various species of Newfoundland Marine life. Each room has a few tanks where you can "pet" various creatures such as star fish. Washrooms are available here as well. The cost for an adult was 8-9$ (I can't remember exactly). This price was worth it to me, if in some small way to support this educational place. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with information. I came rather indifferent to making the stop, yet left glad I did.

Ok first off, before I looked up the website to add to this business page, I was under the…read moreimpression that this park was pronounced ba-na-men park. I GREW UP HERE. That's just ridiculous. Well... The More You Know. This park is a little hub in the city that hosts everything from the folk festival to found memories of the first time I tried wine while sitting in the gazebo. It's a great piece of central green space that has a little bit for every one. Whether it's sight seeing for touristy folks, a spot to sit down and down some lunch picnic style or a play place for the kiddies - it's a pretty nifty park. Last time I was here, it had (and was) undergoing some pretty serious upgrades & maintenance, so that's nice to see they are keeping this place well groomed. On a nice day, it's the perfect spot to grab ice cream and take a wander through.

So much fun. Fantastic kind staff. the activities are great for kids to get that energy going!!read more

We recently had friends visiting from Honduras and decided to immerse them into some local history…read moreby booking a 'Travel Through Twine' walking tour of the Battery in St. John's with Randy Pearcey. I have to say that it is one of the best ways to spend a few hours, especially if you have friends or family visiting from away. Randy is a retired teacher and is a wealth of knowledge of the area with an ability to educate his guests in a very passionate and informative way. Tony Pearcey had the wood stove nicely burning by the time we returned to Pearcey's Twine Store after our walking tour, which was so welcoming. We were able to relax, tell a few stories and enjoy the view of the harbour. This tour is highly recommended. It's a very good experience and will leave you with many good memories. I highly recommend it. Janet Lenover Bay Roberts, NL

Since they took over Nubody's, they've added a whole load of new classes, including the wildly popular Zumba. Since this place is right in the heart of downtown St. John's, businessmen and women flock here between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m., and it gets BUSY. You also get the usual crowd of people who aren't really there to work out, but men who stand idly to the side flexing their muscles while gawking at women, or women who show up with more make-up caked on than is appropriate even for a strip club. Service is friendly, however, and I never have problems using their equipment. I've been to the other Goodlife gyms, and they're great, but this one has the most open space (other than the Women's Only section, which kinda sucks).
