Ok first off, before I looked up the website to add to this business page, I was under the…read moreimpression that this park was pronounced ba-na-men park. I GREW UP HERE. That's just ridiculous. Well... The More You Know. This park is a little hub in the city that hosts everything from the folk festival to found memories of the first time I tried wine while sitting in the gazebo. It's a great piece of central green space that has a little bit for every one. Whether it's sight seeing for touristy folks, a spot to sit down and down some lunch picnic style or a play place for the kiddies - it's a pretty nifty park. Last time I was here, it had (and was) undergoing some pretty serious upgrades & maintenance, so that's nice to see they are keeping this place well groomed. On a nice day, it's the perfect spot to grab ice cream and take a wander through.

The business card for the cab neglected to put the area code on the card? The wonderful ladies at the botanical garden helped us out. Gave me the area code and called a taxi for us. Also gave us suggestions on a cemetery to visit. I get lots of different reactions when I ask about cemeteries and they weren't phased they were kinda exited. Great place and wonder friendly staff.

This houses their administration offices, gift shop, washrooms, displays introducing the park, as well as the space where they hold have information seminars and host children's groups. Kenny's Pond - we go back a long way…read more When I was a little girl and my sister and I were new to the city - you were the pond in our backyard. Your bugs, and fish and plants were our playground . Growing up you were the pond down the street - where we hung out in the summer and skated on in the winter. Passed through a million times going here and there over the years. You grew up too; lots of changes, starting with the walking trail. These days you are part of a network of walking trails through the city. Then you got into golf and like most - your interest in golf has been long-standing and varied: driving range, putting greens and now today - mini golf! Lots of wildlife here too. Good for those evenings after work when you need to clear your head or get your legs moving after eating a big meal. When I've walked around here I've noticed other locals that do the same. On my walk there were no notice of bugs and I made my way around and back before dark. I believe it's important that city's make trails around nature where possible as it encourages exercise and activity that is necessary in our busy lives!

Gayle and I visited Harbourside Park during a Sunday walk on a atypical cool and foggy June day. We specifically stopped to admire the bronze Newfoundland and Labrador dog statues. But we stayed for the Harbour (and Narrows) vantage points to see the ship traffic or lack of depending on timing. Why only 3 stars? Some folks told us that there's really only 6 weeks of summer in Newfoundland, specifically in the July-August timeframe. We were here in June and although we actually set foot within the Historic Site and walked to the Point/Lighthouse, everything was all cold and fogged in. It reminded us of going to Denali (Alaska) a few years ago and being there on that day that you couldn't see the peak. If I ever visit St. John's again, this will be the first place I'll return to reclaim an previous missed opportunity. Maybe during the High Holidays would be nice during the Blowing of the Shofar at the sunrise or sunset?

A very nice secluded trail in the heart of the area - not far from the main thoroughfares. Hard to believe it when you are enveloped in the quietude of the path. Access to it from many points.
