Got the classic dirty bathrooms and the graffiti but what is a road trip without that in a gas…read morestation? Gotta love the adventure! If you run into Ben, he's got humor so don't take him too seriously on account of all these bad reviews. He's a chill dude doing his job and blessed our day with some jokes. Good to remember to lighten up and remember that this life is supposed to be enjoyed. Kinda wish we didn't have to buy something but hey, business has to run somehow. Have to respect the hustle. Thanks for letting me pee.

SKIP THIS GAS STATION! This doesn't deserve any star at all…read more During our visit, my husband entered the restroom with our two young sons (ages 6 and 9). When he came out, I asked him where the women's restroom was, as it appeared to be closed. Since he was unsure, he approached the employee at the front and politely asked if there was a women's restroom available. The employee responded in a rude and dismissive tone, stating, "Can't you see there's a bathroom back there?" My husband tried to remain calm and explained that the restroom was clearly labeled for men, and there was no indication that women were supposed to use it. The employee then replied, "Can't you see that the women's restroom is blocked with all of that equipment?" At this point, there was still no clear signage or guidance provided, and the employee continued to respond with attitude rather than assistance. She then made another sarcastic comment: "Do you want me to put 'woman' on the sign in the back there?" During this interaction, the employee also stated that she could refuse service to individuals who were not paying customers. This assumption was incorrect and unfair, as our children were holding items (ice cream and a popsicle) that we fully intended to purchase after using the restroom. Because we needed immediate restroom access for our children, she assumed we were not customers and treated us differently as a result. There were also three other women waiting outside the restroom area during this time. Notably, my husband had to step in and explain to them that they would need to use the men's restroom and lock the door, as no guidance was being provided by the employee. As my husband and my two children were leaving the store, my young child pushed on the door while exiting, even though it was labeled "pull." The employee made an inappropriate and condescending remark: "Can't you read that it says pull?" This comment was directed toward a child, without any patience or understanding. After I exited the men's restroom, the employee made an additional remark: "I hope your kids learned something today."This statement was judgmental, unnecessary, and completely inappropriate. The interaction ultimately escalated to the point where the employee refused to serve us, and we were forced to leave the store. This entire experience occurred in front of our children and was handled with hostility, disrespect, and a complete lack of professionalism. We felt unwelcome, disrespected, and discriminated against based on the employee's assumption that we were not paying customers. This behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the Shell plc brand. I already filled a complaint through corporate and will keep following up.

The place *is* still there, and it is actually better than ever. In fact, after getting another delicious lassi at this gas station, i am now starting to think that Jenny (the author of the 6/24/2014 review) probably wound up at the wrong spot somehow. If you are looking for a fresh and wholesome meal in the bleak wasteland that is the Needles Freeway (CA Interstate 40), this *gas* *station* is a surreal and wonderful oasis. There was a heated display case holding samosas for grab-n-go food convenience. We did not get samosas, but i thought it would have been a good choice if we were really rushed to get back on the highway. We ordered gobhi paratha (a naan-like break with cauliflower and green onion embedded in the dough). It was very tasty. Somebody in our group was one of those old-fashioned red-blooded American meat-and-potatoes guys, and he *never* plays the part of foodie, and even he said: "this is seriously tasty bread." The cooks were punjabi. Several of the long-haul truckers outside were as well. Most fans of ethnic foods will tell you to go sample the cuisine at the restaurants where the actual ethnic community goes to eat. This place fits the bill! Go get a cold lassi and some grub!
