The school has a huge, fenced backyard playground, and the classes make excellent use of it, weather permitting. My older daughter now attends the pre-K during the regular school year, and has continued to take huge strides in early learning. The teachers keep the lessons fun. The staff and team work with families to offer schedules that seem to be more flexible than the other schools that I considered before choosing Wee Lad. The school has been excellent to work with in regards to food allergies and maintaining the safety of my child.

The campus is beautiful (see: Carroll House), though the school itself could use some updating. The teachers are adequate, it's just as cliquey as every private school out there, most of the kids have an overinflated sense of entitlement, and the programs (art, music, etc) are pretty much non-existant. The benefits are the small environment--you really get to know everyone in your class, your teachers, principals (which can be good or bad, lol), etc, the close-knit community, the whole God thing (if you're into that), the uniforms (my favorite part of a private school,and I'm not even kidding. I miss those damn things!). If it's your deal, give it a try. Going to the elementary school makes getting into the high school super-easy, and the high school, while a joke, looks good on a college app.

My daughter plays for John Carroll and during the game I always saw the Indian Creek girls trying to help up any John Carroll student that was knocked to the ground or fouled hard during the game. It's rare to see in sports these days and I just wanted to commend the girls from Indian Creek. They are definitely being taught the right way from the admin, staff and coaches. this is exactly why we send our kids to private school!

At the core of our search was a school that was Christ-centered and where parents were considered the primary educators of their child(ren). At Rockbridge, we have found that and more. Education there is perceived as the exploring, unpacking and understanding of God's creation, and this philosophy undergirds every subject area. They follow a classical curriculum, which essentially translates to an education that aligns with a child's natural development. The fruit of this form of education has been wonderful to witness as a parent. What really has been the "clincher" for my husband and I is the way they handle discipline. At the heart is forgiveness and restoration of the student. I am so incredibly grateful for the education they are receiving there and that they experience the Lord's grace there and at home.

One time there was this teacher who just came and like after 3 days she thought that she ran the whole school. She would boss people around and tell kids her own rules that did not follow the school. There was also a parent who came as a recess teacher and she was telling everybody what to do. She told my class when we were in line treat me like how you treat your parents but some kids don't treat their parents that well. Plus, SHE IS NOT OUR PARENT. and all we did to her was just turn around and she said that we were disrespectful.
