Standard pub fare, but well done and a nice piece of fish. A good atmosphere in the main bar too, there isn't much else in the area and this place does well by its regular clientele. Set back from the road, the Malsters Arms seems to be the hub of the village with a mixture of traditional and contemporary decor. It has a warm and relaxing feel as soon you enter, empahasised by the friendly and helpful staff. The entrance is straight into the traditional bar area where you can sit and have a quiet drink. The more modern restaurant areas, branch off from this area. On our first visit we had tiger prawn linguini and stuffed mushrooms, all the food was exquisitely presented and full of flavour. The desserts were again packed with flavour, and presented wonderfully on stylish black plates. Not cheap at £14-£17 for a main, and over £5 for a dessert, but worth it for the food and the general ambience of the Malsters. As we were only on holiday for a week, we just had to go back for a second visit. Bathed in fading summer light and having chosen a simply sublime sea bass and salmon dish, the restaurant at the Maltsters is one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had! I would recommend it to anyone, I just wish we lived nearer! If you are going to go though, book, or otherwise you will be disappointed.

The Crown Inn is a very special place on so many levels. It is the 2nd oldest pub in Cornwall…read more(1100's!). It has charm and character for days, from the cozy fireplace in the bar, to the low beamed ceilings, to the inviting outdoor courtyard filled with flowers, and tables with umbrellas. The rooms are extremely well appointed and no detail has been spared. The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows and linens are top quality with William Morris fabric. The pub fare is great and breakfast in the morning was plentiful and delicious! To top it off, the owners Tim and Jos are so warm, welcoming and accommodating that you will leave feeling like family. The Crown Inn's location in Lanlivery is a great base for touring many favorite spots in Cornwall including The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and many of the charming fishing villages nearby including Polperro!

The room was clean and bright and had everything we needed. The shower was great, plenty of water pressure to help remove the day's dirt and grime. The room was a little quirky, with mural and sailing ship wall papers, and a lamp shade that looked like Emu's undercarriage, but we liked it. As for the bed - I'm not sure whether it was the couple of drinks we had in the bar downstairs, or whether they'd sprinkled fairy dust (or narcotics) on the pillows, but we went to sleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows and slept soundly through to morning. Breakfast was good, and the guy serving was very helpful and attentive. The breakfast room was quaint and all the tables were set beautifully with butter and preserves, and sauces. We filled our boots with glee! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
