After seeing the care with which the Word is handled and the emphasis on sound doctrine, I didn't bother checking out anywhere else on my list. Five years later, DCC still hasn't disappointed. I've really appreciated how many ways there are to get plugged in: Connect Groups for shared interests, Community Groups for closer ties with people in the same or nearby neighborhoods, Discipleship Groups for smaller, more personal circles, and various serving teams. I've especially valued being able to lean on the wisdom and encouragement of other believers during different seasons of life. Can't recommend DCC enough; I'm looking forward to the next five years and beyond!

The interior is equally pared down and geometric, but the exposed timber makes for a warmer "Northwest" ambience. I'm not sure how this is conducive to a meditative, if not religious or spiritual experience (there is a walking path "maze" in the small adjacent grounds facing 1st Avenue N, exposed to traffic noise from three close-by streets). I've been tempted to attend a Sunday service but have only been here for a recital as well as historical tour. The older building annex is even more a vestige. Both seem to be "lost" as demolition of single-unit homes continues at an ever increasing pace.

It was at this little church that I was Baptized and God filled me with the Holy Ghost in 1977 at age 7. This was the start of my life's journey with my Lord. I attended the Philadelphia Church with my Great Grandmother. She was a faithful saint and a member of the woman's sewing circle. I remember she would spend many hours with the other women sewing dresses for dolls, crocheting blankets and sewing quilts for the missionaries. She would take me to Sunday school, sing Sunday School songs with me, teach me the books of the Bible and help me memorize scriptures verses. She knelt beside me at bedtime and would pray for me and our family. I have sweet memories of looking up at my Great Grandmother while she was worshiping God in church, with her hands lifted up and tears streaming down her cheeks, speaking in other tongues. My Grandmother prayed diligently for me and my family. Many times I went to the alter during alter call. I could feel God's spirit drawing me. Then one glorious day His spirit entered my soul and literally laid me on my backside. I remember opening my eyes and looking up at the other saints around me who had been praying with me, thinking, "WOW, I will never forget this day!". Eventually, my parents divorced and mother moved my brother and I to Las Vegas, Nevada. My brother and I would come back to Washington in the summer to visit our dad. Grandma Mae would take us to Camp Beracha (sp?) and to the Philadelphia Church with her. I LOVED being in the presents of God and fellow shipping with His people. To make a long story short, I lost sight of my Lord in my teen years, but never forgot the feeling of His spirit and never lost the hunger in my soul for His love and His truth. When I was 22, my God called me out and put a Preacher in my life. Praise God, for his Mercy endures forever! I wish I could say I've been as faithful to Jesus as He has been to me, but through His blood, I am made righteous. I now attend a one God, Apostolic, Pentecostal Church in Las Vegas and am looking forward to the Lord's return. Thank you Jesus for your goodness and mercy...and thank you for my Great Grandma Mae, Pastor Johnson and the Philadelphia Church! God Bless. I learned to love this church, and it was in this church that I really learned to Love the Lord. Unfortunately, even though you are a Bible believing, God preaching church, when it comes to supporting your members, you are sorely lacking. You see, my best friend IS a member of this church, and her mother recently passed away. She is exhausted after the long illness her mother had, and she was the primary caregiver, night and day. What I don't understand, is why, when she reached out to the Women's Pastor for support the only response was "I'll pray for you". What has happened to the church in this day and age? The only person who has offered any kind of support, and even a meal is a neighbor who is NOT a Christian. Come on! We are children of the Most HIgh GOD!! We are supposed to be supporting our fellow Christians! Not just with "I'll pray for you", but how about a meal? How about a cup of coffee? My friend is lonely, she is tired, she is spiritually drained and she is and has been waiting for HER church to reach out to her! If I was able to be there for her in person, I would be at the drop of a hat. But unfortunately all I can do is give her my support night and day via text and phone calls. I love this woman! She has devoted herself to her church, her family and most of all to the Lord. Is it too much to ask for someone who says that they care to actually care? Take her a meal, offer her a moment of your time to chat in person. She is a wonderful woman of the Lord, and she has been dumped on for a long time. Come on Church!! Rise up and support your members, and always keep this at the very top of your mind,,,,,,, What would Jesus do??? Thank you for hearing me.... My friends best friend
