A crown placed in 2023 came off approximately two years later. When I returned, another dentist initially told me the crown had not been seated properly and that the back area had been exposed. After I questioned why I should have to pay to correct the issue, I was later told that the X-rays showed the crown had been seated properly and that decay can occur under crowns. The change in explanation concerned me. I was then referred to specialists with tooth 15 identified as the problem tooth. After developing pain, I saw an endodontist who determined that the symptomatic tooth was actually tooth 3 and documented a vertical root fracture with a poor prognosis. The specialist also identified separate recurrent decay and very little remaining tooth structure on tooth 15. Equally concerning was how the office handled my requests for records. I repeatedly requested the clinical notes from my original treatment and the visit when the crown issue was discovered. They provided X-rays but never provided the requested clinical notes. After multiple written requests and deadlines, they eventually stopped responding to my emails altogether. I cannot say what caused the fracture, but I can speak to what I personally experienced: conflicting explanations, the wrong tooth number on a specialist referral, incomplete dental records despite repeated requests, and eventually no response at all. I am now facing additional specialist treatment and significant expenses. I have filed formal complaints so the appropriate agencies can review what occurred.

However, I am incredibly happy with the quality care and service provided by the staff here at Coast Dental at Willow Bend! Debbie was very helpful and did everything she could to make sure I was well taken care of and all my records were sent over to their office. Karina was kind and attentive to my complaints and needs. She listened carefully and made sure that I would be getting done what was necessary while also making sure I would be covered by my insurance. Dr. Roberts exceeded my expectations and I was so happy to be under the care of a professional and personable dentist. He thoroughly examined the issue I was having, discussed the x-rays with me, and listened carefully to all I was saying. I definitely trust him with all my dental needs. He is so kind! The only difficulty I had was that when I tried calling the office, I was connected to a call center and they did not seem to correctly understand me and what I was trying to figure out. Btw, they alter medical records to cover up! 1. The biting X-Ray stick stinks 2. There are rusting everywhere 3. No CCTV in the treatment room for the protection of both the patient and the business 4. Inexperienced people (both hygienist and front desk staff) who cannot even put the bite stick properly to take X-Ray. I had to puked twice for them to finally gave up. I have a gag reflex, but other dentist offices always did it right. Btw, one of the metal sticks from that bite stick penetrated my mouth once a little bit. 5. I should not have come here after I receive a text 2 hours before the appointment saying that they will cancel the appointment if I don't confirm within 15 mins because they cannot call me. That was the 1st attempt to confirm the appointment and try to cancel like this!! 6. The appointment started ~11:00 AM, they haven't started cleaning by 12:50. I told the doctor that we can go over the treatment plan but have to reschedule for another day because I have to work at 1 PM. He said OK and that they are waiting for insurance. At 1 PM, I tried to checkout at the front desk and explained that I have to work now, so I am leaving. She said, "We haven't checked you out yet. Can't you take an absence from work?". I work remotely, so I have to join the meeting now on my phone. She could have said let's reschedule cleaning instead of these sarcastic comments. I asked can you make another appointment for cleaning. She said I thought you were in so much in a hurry to work. (Being sarcastic again!). It turns out that the hygienist won't be available till 2 PM. Nobody even informed me that, and I was waiting in the treatment room! We cannot spend the entire day at the dentist for a simple cleaning. People have work, other appointments, etc... The only one here who acted professional was a dentist. I was very patient this entire time despite these negative experiences. There isn't even any patient when I came in except 1 who came later. It is not even a busy office like how other dental offices are.

Well, I found one!. I called up Lumina Dental and got the Brandon office, which is the main office. Really nice people. got an immediate appointment at the Lutz facility as it was the closest to my home. When I got to the facility I was seen right away and given a very thorough examination with xrays. I met the dentist, Dr. Rocio Barocio-Rasmussen. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me of what I had going on. Not only a cracked tooth but a cavity as well. Uck! I thought I was going to have a heart attack. So, with everything explained, I had no choice to get the crown that was needed and the cavity filled, killing two birds with one stone (no punt intended). I must say that I felt NO PAIN OR NEEDLE! She was a sweetheart and always asked me if I was ok. I was in the chair for about 5 hours, but I didn't care. I wanted it done right and with no pain. She was very meticulous and took her time to make sure everything was done right. I can't thank this dentist enough! Keep in mind the only reason why I am giving a 4 star and not a 5 is not because of the dentist. Its the FACULTY at the center! They kept pushing the sales pitch of getting me to have more work done, even as I was in the middle of the procedure! Not once, but at least 3 times even after telling them to not ask me again or think they can pressure me to get the work done and spend money I don't have. In addition, right now it was not necessary and it could wait. They screwed up the financial situation and had to physically go into the office to sign a paper for a refund to be transferred to the financial situation for a partial refund. It was ridiculous!! Even the associate who came in to review the cost of the procedure was delightful -- friendly, funny, and remarkably easy to work with. It immediately put me at ease. Bethany, the tech who stayed with me throughout the process, was outstanding. She explained everything clearly, reassured me at each step, and kept me distracted in a way that truly felt like having my own daughter there looking out for me. The extraction itself was far better than I anticipated. I'm sensitive to epinephrine in numbing agents, but Dr. Williams administered everything carefully so I never experienced the usual racing-heart feeling. The procedure was quick, not painful, and handled with exceptional skill. Dr. Williams talked me through each part of the process, and she and Bethany kept a warm, pleasant conversation going that made the whole experience surprisingly comfortable.
