As I was looking through the "Where Magazine", I ran across the ad for this tour. After checking the website and the reviews, I thought... sure - why not? Reserving a spot on their website was very easy. The website is very user friendly. The receipt and the ticket was sent to my phone immediately. The pick up location was very easy to find since it's at the Lumiere Casino. The trolley tour started right on time. The driver/guide was very informative about the city and nearby sites. Overall, the tour was about 90 minutes long. There were couple of times where we were able to get off of the trolley. I wish I took this tour on my first day and not the second day of my trip there. After this tour, I placed some of the locations on my "Try List" for my next visit to St. Louis. The trolley was very comfortable and at the right temperature. The volume was just right. "The Best First Thing to do in St. Louis" was the advertisement & I agree. As we rode through StL I was amazed at what I did not know & what I have forgotten. St Louis has many buildings and unique (many times funny) history to make a city proud. The tours leave Lumiere Casino (tickets at the gift shop or on-line) at 10 AM, noon, 2 PM and 4 PM- except Monday. This should be an official yelp event soon! The tour driver talked about St Louis river exploration history, trade history, baseball, brick, Blues music, "first skyscraper", 1904 World's Fair and the rebirth of the city (the Loop, Millionaire's Row, Washington Ave, SLU, Wash U, etc). He showed & talked about the old & new Basilicas (public church- I did not know the meaning). There was many jokes & funny local stories (consumption per capita of beer & the invention of the toasted ravioli, etc). I would highly recommend this to anyone from first time tourists to old sarcastic know it all like me. The driver was very interactive and asked many questions. For the OCD or "devil's advocate" people, he might be fuzzy on a few facts and missed some places because of the short tour route... I was invited for a short preview of this tour to celebrate a friends 70th birthday. I hopped on the enclosed, a/c and wood lined trolley at the North entrance to Lumiere Casino. There were a few detours and he allowed the birthday party to talk amongst themselves so it was not the "official tour", but I still walked away impressed. The trolley itself has two large a/c units that almost froze us out till the driver adjusted the settings. The seats are wood benches with cushions on them and was fairly comfortable for the short trip. There was a handicap lift at the back of the trolley. As we left, one of the riders made a deal to rent the trolley for another special event. There are repeat customers already for this new business! We took the tour today. We've been on many of these types of tours and generally seek them out and enjoy them. We arrived about 30 minutes early and the bus was already there. There were about a dozen of us. The driver and tour guide were the same person, a nice man in his 60's. He said he grew up in St Louis, moved away, and came back about 20 years ago. He did an acceptable job on the tour. His voice is close to a monotone so it lacks much excitement. He told about a tenth of the jokes that we normally here. Some people hate the puns and jokes, but I think it should be part of the shtick. We spent far more time out of the downtown area than I thought, and we heard very little about building architecture. The tour didn't indicate it would be focused on architecture, I guess I was just hoping. The trip was fine, not great, not terrible. 3 stars is about right. read more

My husband had to get me out of the house for a surprise birthday party (I was) and bought tickets for the St. Louis Fun Tour bus. You can catch it at the Lumiere casino. Even though we are both from St. Louis, I thought this would be fun. Sometimes it's great to play the tourist in your own city. It turned out to be quite a hot day in October - 85 degrees in fact. We drove through downtown, Forest Park, the Delmar Loop and down millionaire's row (Lindell Blvd. across from Forest Park). Our driver was very knowledgeable. It was fun, however, there were two things wrong with it. The sound system was horrible as was the air conditioner on the bus. Our driver knew the air did not work correctly and when he was talking he had to turn it down so we could hear him. Even when it was blasting, it was just hot air. The handicap space rattled so much that we could not hear him. If I hadn't been from the city itself, I would have been ticked off about that tour. Would I come back on this tour? It's worth the money if you're from out of town but try to go on a cool day. read more

The tour guide was super nice and tried to interact with everyone. With that said, this tour would have been much better if it was a hop on hop off. My wife and I have been living in St. Louis for about 8 months now and decided to take this tour to see if we missed any of the bigger sights since we've been here. We found a deal on Groupon and signed up for a tour the next day. I would plan on calling at least a day in advance, because I had asked about tickets on the same day but they said they were fully sold out. On the day of the tour, my wife and I just barely made it right before the trolley was leaving. They leave exactly on the time to keep on schedule, which I like. The trolley took us to a lot of the larger and nicer sights and areas. Our tour guy was a little monotone but was very informative. The tour only made one stop to let us get some fresh air in front of the Art Museum in Forest Park. I understand that this is a tour, and they really want to showcase the nice parts of St. Louis, but I wished they hit up more areas and sights that weren't so "nice" like Cherokee street or the graffiti wall. Well maybe they didn't, because they had to keep to a strict schedule. I would still recommend the tour though for a tourist that wants to see a lot of St. Louis in a short amount of time. read more

Solid 4/5. We got a bit confused where to park. We parked in a parking garage next to the casino and the worker said we had to be a member of something to park there and members parked free. We said we were there for a tour bus and she was confused and let us in anyways. So we ended up not paying for parking here. We walked through the casino and to some large glass doors and the bus was parked out front. The older gentleman driver/guide seemed to not like technology as he didn't look at our reservations/QR code and just asked how many and how much we paid. No names or anything. It's a bit of a tight squeeze as my husband and I are a bit larger but doable. It was air conditioned which was nice. He would let it run a while and let it cool down and turn it off so we could hear him better. It was SO MUCH information being thrown at you which I think is good! Larry was very knowledgeable of the buildings and the roads. We drove right through the city with ease. He grew up there and told a few stories about when he was a kid. Okay tour. I know what I want to visit in St.Louis now and where it is, but I felt like a bit of "magic"was missing. PROS - only tour in town - great bargain, $22 for a 75 min live narrated tour -great overview of St. Louis area and sights. I knew what I wanted to go back and see -cute old fashion trolley - knowledgeable bus driver/guide. He really knew the area and history. -the company let our small dogs ride on our laps with no fuss. Wow! Thank you. CONS -the day was hot. Even with 3 air conditioners on, the bus was hot. My mom, sister, and I got off with sweat patches on our clothes. It was so hot, we couldn't wait for the tour to end! -drove by everything to see in St.Louis, but only saw signs to the buildings. This is a great tour. Our driver was informative and very courteous. He offered plenty of opportunities for people to snap pictures of the different sites. I really feel like we got a good review of the different parts of St Louis. I was especially impressed with Forest Park and stories of the 1904 Worlds Fair. I was concerned because other reviews mentioned inadequate air conditioning and sound system on the trolley. It was 86 degrees during our tour and the air conditioning worked great. We used a Groupon to check out this relatively new tour for St. Louis tourists. I do a lot of blithering on the Trip Advisor forum, so I wanted to make sure this tour is worth recommending. It is. According to the driver, Barry, it's just two guys and a trolley. He's a very down-home kind of guy who uses his hands a lot when he talks. Yes, even when driving. He did a great job, though, with the driving and the talking. One of my favorite things about the tour is that they get you away from downtown. The driver said the tour covers 23 miles, if I recall correctly. The trolley starts at the Lumiere Casino entrance and goes through Forest Park and as far west as Big Bend, wrapping around Wash U, through the Loop, then back. Of course we all know there is a LOT more to see than this tour covers, but the highlights are pretty much covered. If the trolley doesn't go by, such as the Botanical Garden, Anheuser-Busch or Grants Farm, he'll mention it. The only shortcoming I noticed was he didn't mention the City Museum as we turned onto Wash Ave. It's a must see for anyone with kids and deserves a mention at least, if not a gawk at the bus sticking over the roof. A mention of the $70 million spent on the library would also be a good idea since they come within a couple of blocks of it. It is a great overview of the city for just $20, though. I recommend you get your out-of-town guests on this trolley before they do anything else. For the price, it's as good as it gets. read more

I'm on a break from school and recently moved to St. Louis, so I'm doing the "tourist in your own city" thing with gusto. I was driving around Lafayette Square looking at the beautiful architecture and saw one of this tour company's trolleys so I googled the name and my mom and I decided we would go on a tour when she visited for Mother's Day. The tour was nice, and definitely cheaper than similar experiences we've paid for in other cities. The tour guide was informative and friendly, and it was basically a greatest hits tour of St. Louis - Forest Park, the Arch, the sports stadiums, The Loop, the beautiful houses on Lindell, the Cathedral Basilica, and I'm sure I'm missing something. Our guide made sure to point out stuff like tasty restaurants and attractions that were free as we drove by them. This tour would definitely be a good jumping off point for a first timer to St. Louis without much of an already formed plan for what to do in the city. I left the tour a little disappointed that we didn't really explore any of St. Louis' neighborhoods - Lafayette Square or otherwise - but overall had a pleasant, enjoyable time. read more

My wife and I had an excellent time on St. Louis Fun Tours. We had a Living Social deal and decided to use it before time ran out. We were questioning as to whether or not to go because the weather was crappy but we are glad we went. Barry, the driver and tour guide was top notch. We were the only ones to show up for our reservation and he took us anyway. I learned a tremendous amount of facts on the tour. I had no idea there was so much to do in the Lou for free. I have lived in St. Louis since 2008 and have not afforded myself to be a tourist until now. My best friend was coming into town and I wanted to be able to show her STL without spending too much money and time driving back and forth so I looked into a trolley tour. I came across the city trolley (bus) and although cheap, it seemed impersonal so I researched more and came across St. Louis Fun Tours. St. Louis Fun Tours was appealing to me upon first glance on their website because they list the numerous destinations covered in their tour not to mention the price. Their website says 75 minutes but in actuality the tour is more 90 to 120 minutes. Our tour was 120 minutes. Before starting the driver told us that there was no way the tour would be done within 75 minutes and more like 90 minutes. If you are a patient person and don't mind taking in the sites, then you won't mind the long duration. The driver was very thorough in the tour and very nice. I learned a lot about each site and area...more than I knew before when I read about it. We took a 10 minute break at the Art Museum before heading back to Lumiere. read more

I recommend doing the trolley tour first! We were able to get a great tour of the city which would have made our trip completely different had we done this first. Our driver, Dusty, was fantastic. He has so much great information and could answer all of our questions. There is so much of St Louis that we missed out experiencing only because we ran out of time. The name says it all. This is a Fun Tour!! I recommend taking the tour first thing because it gives you an idea of the sites and places you want to visit during your stay. It's about an hour and a half tour. The driver is a wealth of knowledge and he gives you a history lesson about the city while entertaining you. The tour driver was very articulate, engaging and knowledgeable including interesting facts and tidbits about St. Louis neighborhoods and Landmarks. Please note that they do not conduct tours on Mondays. I didn't notice it on their website and was disappointed when I arrived at Lumiere Casino and was told I would have to return on Tuesday. My sister and I took this tour and were the only ones on the trolley! It is the end of the season so fewer are riding. The tour lasted an hour, began and ended at Union Station. We have lived in St. Louis may years but enjoyed being reminded of the city's rich history. We also really enjoyed touring the Lafayette Square area and seeing the renovation/preservation taking place there. Unfortunately the microphone system was out of order but since it was just the two of us we sat up front in the jump seat by the driver/tour guide. It was a bit uncomfortable since there was NO leg room and our backs were toward some of the sights so we had to twist around but we had a very enjoyable interchange with our guide. If the tour changes locations from time to time it would be fun to do it again. read more
