Let me start with the positives. Wonderful families. Neighborhood feel. Loving staff. However …read more.. the principal has GOT to go! This man genuinely hates women. The way that he treats the moms over the dads is some 1950s kind of stuff. When we met with him, he ignored me and basically just spoke to my husband. But that wasn't enough to make me dislike him. I just thought he was trying to "bro out". However, as our year progressed, he was disrespectful to a single mom during morning lineup. She was so upset, she cried afterwards and ended up leaving the school because of him. I had several issues that I didn't like how he handled them. I tried to speak to him but he was rude and manipulative to me the entire time. When my husband got involved he implied that I was "out of control" and to keep a better handle on his family. Lastly, let's talk about how he doesn't care about the children. He prioritized Covid over everything. The parking lot was a wreck and people were speeding. A mom brought it up at a PTA meeting worried someone might hit a child. He responded "Well I'm taking temperatures I cannot police the parking lot". So he did nothing about it. I mean I didn't want my children to get Covid, but I certainly didn't want them getting hit by a car either. He never stood up for the kids to have them go back to school even once other schools were opening in late 2020. He wanted to stay home because he was scared for himself, so he took an entire year away from the kids until they went back for a few hours in March 2021. I am completely shocked that this man is still allowed to be a principal. He runs the school like a dictatorship and moms are scared of him so don't argue. Anything he does people talk amongst themselves but feel helpless to stand up to him. Toxic. Toxic. Toxic. We obviously left the school due to him and he alone. Some tips: 1: stay away from this man. He is NOT your friend if you are a woman. 2: He is 5'4 max so I don't know why people are scared of him but they are so just know if push comes to shove you can probably take him.

The overall quality of the education provided was pretty good. There are some really good teachers with a few being exceptional. There are also some bad teachers too. Unfortunately the exceptional ones have either retired (like the former 8th grade teacher Mr Laner) or have moved on to other schools simply because of administration issues. Like many have stated, the administration is sorely lacking and that all falls squarely on principal Watson who lacks the proper skills and judgement to be an effective leader. Is this a good school? Overall, yes as a local private Catholic elementary and middle school. Were my two girls happy being part of this school? Yes, they created a lot of long lasting friendships and developed good solid religious values through the curriculum. The campus itself has gone through some wonderful improvements through recent renovations, but it could benefit and really flourish with a new principal and a fresh start..

Do you know why?: It's because countless parents who have bad children send their kids here thinking it will change them because its a religious school, NEWSFLASH it doesn't, their kids are the ones to change students for the worse. A few of the teachers are also horrible. There is this one particular teacher, I shan't say her name but is a horrible teacher. She complains of having migraines everyday and takes her frustration out on the kids despite being a teacher. She has blatant favoritism and ignores the ones causing trouble and puts the blame on the ones doing nothing. Multiple parents have complained about her and nothing has been done to remove her. Another horrible teacher here teaches TK/Kinder. She yells at your kids, pitches them, and belittles them. She only cares about the cheerleaders which she doesn't even take care of. When you see how she treats those little kids you will be disgusted. She throws little kids food away if they don't eat fast enough for her, a little reminder, these kids are 5-6 years old. Once I heard her bad mouthing kids because their parents forgot to pay for their midterm fee. If YOU DON'T LIKE KIDS WHY ARE YOU TEACHING THEM!!!! This brings me to the next topic:the principal. This principal has got to be one of the most mean spirited women I've met. She only cares about money, not the kids. Also the tuition is not that bad, what's bad is the fact you're charged for everything, and I mean everything. Didn't do the raffle you pay, didn't volunteer pay. They make you pay for everything that's not your fault. They DO NOT value education enough. Why are these kids worrying about art and PTO snacks when they should be thinking about their work. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with thinking about other things as a kid but why am I hearing these kids talk about having enough money for snack sales and then having bad grades, it's ridiculous. They barely challenge these kids. When I talk to other parents that take their kids to other Catholic schools I always hear about these good programs the school has:Scholarships, Clubs, Sports, Internships, this school barely has either. When I pulled my kid out I was surprised to see how behind she was compared to other kids from different schools. Their so called social studies is nonsense! My child in the 3rd grade, when I asked her simple things about social studies she didn't even know! I asked her if it was in her book and she said it wasn't?! In all seriousness don't send your kids here if you prioritize their education and your well-being. Send them to schools in Torrance or Redondo, not here.

Those are some of our most treasured memories. As an Arab American who was raised in a Christian household and who married an Ashkenazy Jew, I was so moved by Beth Shir Shalom's welcoming attitude toward people of all backgrounds and religions that, 9 years ago, I decided to become a Jew by choice. There are a wide array of activities for members of all ages including a superb early childhood center, an innovative religious school, an active and well attended youth group, musical and varied Friday evening Shabbat celebrations, wonderful interfaith activities and plenty of adult education opportunities. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It's amazing how much this relatively small synagogue is able to accomplish. This is thanks in no small part to our wonderful executive director Cynthia. Rabbi Neil became Emeritus a few years ago, but is still very much engaged with the community. Our new head rabbi, Rabbi Alex, brings tremendous youthful vigor to the community, leading us as we increase our outreach and hone our strategic vision.

I mean, not only is it in an original, historical (and beautiful) church building constructed by Aimee Semple McPherson, the church still practices the original Pentecostal doctrine that Foursquare was once famous for. Pastor Rob Scribner, the senior pastor, is a sharp guy -- a great Bible teacher -- with an inspiring testimony as a former NFL football player and succesful business man. His family is active in the church and his children have excellent testimonies. I wish more Foursquare Churches operated like this one. There is a lot of spiritual life here and the Church has a large Spanish ministry and a Christian School. They seem to be very active in Church planting and missionary work as well. The only downside is the limited parking as the area has grown up around the original property since it was established almost 90 years ago. Worth visiting on a Sunday!

It's a bilingual (mandarin and Spanish) play-based learning preschool. Ms LiLi and Ms Rosemary are the kindest teachers and they give personalized attention to the kids. I love that it's a home daycare because of the community-feel and openness the school and teachers bring. We sent our son to a large daycare center just before Little Ivy and there was a noticeable difference in my son's attitude and happiness - and the teachers here are more accessible. There is not only an app where you get daily updates (pictures, nap times, etc.), but also a personal text thread with the parents and teacher to communicate any time. The teachers do a fantastic job of correcting behavior and teaching the kids social and emotional skills - something that most preschools do not focus on. I love the play-based learning at this age because the kids really thrive in an environment like that. They do so many creative activities (based on season, holidays, etc), they have soccer and music classes, and do gardening! It's truly an amazing preschool and community, and I'm just so happy that we found Little Ivy when we did!
