Everything else seemed to be 20-30 minutes away, so finding this spot felt a bit like discovering a hidden gem. Inside, we learned that the store was originally built in 1907 to serve local sawmill workers and nearby residents. That history gave it an authentic, old-fashioned charm you don't often find anymore. The building itself has a rustic, worn-in look that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. Even though it's small, the store carried a little bit of everything--snacks, drinks, canned goods, and basic household items. It reminded me of a scaled-down version of a regular grocery store, where you might not have dozens of brand options but you'll almost always find something that works. It's clearly still serving its original purpose: providing essentials for people in an otherwise pretty rural area on the outskirts of more densely populated towns. We walked around for a bit, just soaking it in, and my wife asked about a restroom. The staff told us they only have a port-a-potty outside for customers, which definitely added to the "old-school general store" experience but might not be ideal for everyone. Overall, it was really neat to check out this little piece of history.
