I had a TERRIBLE experience while at Bosco. There is so much to say about the staff here and how they turn a blind eye to bullying. I was literally terrified of going to school everyday. I was only 4' 11' at the time until my junior year. I was pushed, called demeaning names and harassed almost everyday even while the teachers saw and witnessed on most occasions. There were many times I would hide in the restroom just to get away from the abuse. The bullying I experienced here has had such a huge negative impact on my life. On another note, if you came from a wealthy family, you were given top notch classes. It's just like a caste system. Please, if you are thinking of sending your children to St. John Bosco, have your children go somewhere else. If I could sue, I would. To this day, I will NEVER forget the names of the guys that bullied me and I will never forgive the St. John Bosco for having turned a blind eye when they should have done something. My life would have been much better had I gone to a Public School. read more

Interesting Facts Spoken from Experience: The head football coach and brother turn to have no integrity or respect people when being asked about matters regarding one's child in the PRORGRAM. The Move: They said kids are verbally told to participate in off season workouts after school everyday, during the season communication was done via sports app. Should parents of a minor be notified when kid's staying after school everyday to participate in a school PROGRAM? Four months pass by the kid shows up for spring training then finds out he is not on the team. They say they promote a professional PROGRAM when asking for the communication sent the student or parent none is provided. The coach commented (This is my PROGRAM and run it like I want). read more

As someone who lives in the neighbor close by it's so annoying when they have football games and they do tell people not to park in front of peoples homes they take up all the parking and are extremely loud they touch peoples cars. Do better tell people when you have games not to park in residential areas read more

Went to this school and gradated in 2011. I have since went on to receive a BA and juris doctorate. The education curriculum is challenging and i feel this school prepared me academically for college and law school. That being said, it wasnt worth the anguish i experienced due to the racism i endured everyday. This school has a history of racism. The faculty was aware of this because they would witness the hispanic, white, and asian students call me and my fellow black classmates racial slurs on a daily basis. No one ever did anything about it. There was only one black teacher there and if i remember correctly, he quit my freshman year because the students would call him the n-word everyday. I witnessed him storm out of class one day (the day he quit) because the students called him a slur. (In hindsight he probably couldnt say anything to the students given how racist the faculty were as well) By the time i graduated, of course there were zero black faculty members. Several black students reported the student's racist behavior to faculty and the response each of them got (i kid you not) was "what did you do to them to make them call you the n word." Most of the black students were recruited there for sports so we were a clear minority within the student body. That being said, now that im older, ive realized racism is pretty widespread in catholic schools. A bunch of rich conservative parents send their privileged kids to overpriced schools because they are probably more likely than not afraid to send there children to public schools with all the minorities. If you're black don't send your children here. If you're a racist hispanic or white person with racist kids then by all means this school is for you.. read more

Administration was nice enough to let me wait for my ex-boyfriend before he got out of class. All their socials were with St. Joseph, which was annoying because I went to public school. I love how everyone yelled "braves!" at the end of the national anthem. The uniform is blue or white polos with khakis. They have a huge gym. read more

I attended four years at SJB and graduated in 1972. Those years were well worth it. I found BOSCO's education to be one of the best in the country. The fact it's an all male school, helps focus our young men in education and sports. Their education taught self-discipline, respect for others, and a knowledge for the future as well as for the present. Whether it's BOSCO Pride or not, I received a very good education and to become a Polymer Chemist later on. If it wasn't for BOSCO's education, I don't think I'd be where I'm at today. My son is graduating from Bosco in a few days and this has been a great school. Beautiful looking campus and a wonderful administration who really seem to care. He and I were not sure if he would be attending St John Bosco due to the tuition cost, although I had him take the entrance exam in December of his 8th grade year just to see how he would do. He scored high on the exam and with his exam score and references from his current and past teachers at the school he was then attending, he ended up being warded a $15,000 academic scholarship to Bosco. That helped lower the tuition cost by approximately $300 per month throughout his four years. His scholarship was possible due to a previous student from several years back who had given the money to the school so that it would be used as an academic scholarship. It seems that this was not unusual because I found that many prior students would "give back" to Bosco. That in itself says how much they loved their school. Also, many of the teachers are prior St John Bosco graduates and they really do care about their students. Like many other private schools the parents do need to do so many hours of volunteer time at the school or they can chose to just "payout" their hours. It is only 15 hours a year which was no problem for me even as a single mom. There are also four parent meetings per year which are mandatory. I liked the fact that it is an all boys school which gets together frequently with the sister school, St. Josephs in Lakewood which is an all girls school, for different functions. I feel that it being an all boys school keeps the students focused more on their studies. Non of the students that I knew of seemed to miss the fact that there were no girls in the classroom. If a Catholic education is something you desire for your child, but you feel you cannot afford tuition cost, please talk to someone at the school to see if there is a way to possibly make it more affordable. I have learned throughout the years that there is much help out there, as far as Catholic education, if you just ask. read more

Through this school and the incredible teachers who invested in him he was able to participate in internships and community endeavors that helped shape him as a young man. Both of my sons attended school here. One was a very good varsity scholar-athlete, and the other concentrated on music. Both were honor roll students, and each were accepted into numerous colleges and universities with substantial scholarships. The school has a high quality faculty (a lot of Masters and PhD's around the campus), and low faculty turnover. They have various Pathways (the equivalent of high school majors) in Engineering, Bio-Med, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Medicine. Their Visual and Performing Arts department is small, but very effective in helping my son earn various college and conservatory scholarships to some of the best places to pursue his college education. The school has about one-third of its students who are not Catholic, but whose parents seem to want a faith-based education for their kids. (Example, my kids are not Catholic, but their courses in Religion and Ethics were valuable, in my opinion.) People think of Bosco as a sports school, because they have been pretty good athletically in recent years. But the real value of Bosco is as a college preparatory school, with a bunch of guys making friends who will remain friends for the rest of their lives. Far more academic scholarships are earned by Bosco graduates, than athletic scholarships. There is something special about Bosco. This review does not fully reflect my great appreciation to this school for the ways they launched my sons into manhood. read more

I graduated from SJB in 1982. It was the best 4 years of my life. I had a 3.9 grade avg and missed only 2 days of High School. I lettered in Football and Tennis. I made great friends and the teachers and Priests had a huge impact on me...go Braves! read more

Sending my son here. He's currently a freshman and really enjoying the experience. Teachers are good at keeping in contact with you & updating you on your boys' progess. Great campus/facilities. You know your money is being spent on keeping things updated. It's no surprise so many of the staff are SJB grads. I went back to St. John Bosco bingo and they have decided to have everyone sit down and wait for the sellers to come to the tables and sell the early birds. Which John feels is fair and most likely would be if he saw what his sellers are doing. They come to the table and sell part of what they have and tell you there sold out. Then they turn and go over to the people that tip better and pull a pack out of there apron. I sit across from one of the ladies that is a big tipper if she wins. The school teacher is the one that I seen do this. As far as I am concerned. ....cheating is cheating. Also noticed less people are coming for early birds. To frustrating and I don't like the idea that people are treated this way. If things don't change I will be done with Bosco Bingo, read more
