This is a beautiful park to walk through to get to The Mall and Buckingham Palace. It's the equivalent to Central Park in NYC. There are ducks, pelicans and geese that roam around freely here. A concession stand to purchase snacks and drinks. There are restrooms on site but they are not free. There's something to see here, including soldiers in scarlet tunics marching down and Admiralty Arch in the distance. Great place to have a picnic or just a leisurely stroll.

"... I love you Marion..." - Robin Hood There's so much to do in London: music, shopping, museums, pomp & circumstance, discovering boroughs, Anglophile stuff. For me, I also just enjoy wandering the old alleyways and historic parks. One such find is the lake at historic St. James's Park. The lake I stumbled upon by accident as I took a stroll to Westminster Abbey and was just wandering around the area. Next I found myself at a curious looking "hobbit" house and followed a pebbled path towards? Some loud aquatic birds! And before you know it I was at the water's edge of St. James's Lake. The history of St. James's Park Lake dates to King Henry VIII. So it's easy to imagine all the Royals and bandits that passed through such a storied park. Here I am standing at St. James's Lake where Shakespeare once stood, or perhaps a very lonely Robin Hood, even though he was two centuries too early and hundreds of miles away lurking in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire. Ah to dream of Lady Marion in my arms. Yet, the most likely bloke standing here? Jack the Ripper:( In the end, I recommend getting lost in Westminster and just let serendipity create the moments. Here's to you accidentally stumbling upon St. James's Park Lake like I did. Oh! Do where comfy walking shoes and clean knickers! Yes, that's "James's" and not "James"! It's wonderfully nestled between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Ta. And so the story begins...

Absolutely the best part of St James Park. With all the crazy looking birds, foliage and fountains. If you see if from the angle with the London Eye in the back on a sunny day, that's pretty hard to beat.

Straight out of swan lake.

We walked from the London Eye to Southbank Centre for a late lunch one afternoon last month, and…read moreour path went right through Jubilee Gardens, a vibrant landscaped public park. Our kids pointed at ice cream trucks and a merry-go-round, and it took some effort to keep them on track so we could feed them actual food. We had no set plans after lunch and decided to indulge them by going back into Jubilee Gardens. We started with a ride on the carousel, which cost £4 a ticket, and required a paying adult to ride with small children. It was, at least, a pretty fun carousel, classic horses painted in extremely bright colors, and what felt like unusually high speeds. Our boys then wanted ice cream, and we took a little walking survey of the options on offer. There was a paleta stand that actually looked good, but one of our kids will only eat ice cream with chocolate. We ended up back toward the London Eye, where there were two very similar carts selling standard ice cream bars and slushies. Our six-year-old got a classic Magnum bar, while our three-year-old insisted on a blue slushie. It was a hot day and he had his shirt unbuttoned, and he walked around Jubilee Gardens sipping on that blue drink. A regular boardwalk dirtbag. The park was full of interesting sights, not least of them the Thames and the London Eye, which overlooked it all. We stayed on the promenade, but it was obvious even there that the landscaping was well done. Lots of space to walk along the river, with tons of shade from a line of tall trees. There were several street performers out doing their thing. Living statues, dance crews, singers with acoustic guitars. We apparently missed an enormous playground, but we got plenty of entertainment in the riverfront section of the park. My boys had a blast at Jubilee Gardens, and we'd all love to go back.

Cool park, right next to The Eye. Best part is a really nice and well kept playground, with lots of…read morethings to climb. My kids 3 and 8 loved it and would gladly spend the whole day here
