St. James Place: Charming Beaver Creek Construction and marketing time-shares in ski resorts has always required adroit thinking. The loquacious salesperson comprehends that winter inventory will virtually sell itself; however, several winter months of maintenance fees will not support the bottom line. This simple analysis has led to a market glut of time-shares in destination areas such as Orlando. Another factor is that the U.S. time-share market clientele is simply not attentive to the geography or demographics of The Rocky Mountains. Interval International categorizes every state from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming as the "Rocky Mountains." These states may indeed share the Rockies, but these states have very ingenuous differences even for the client who is a skier. And specifically, there are market differences in Vail, Avon, and Beavercreek, Colorado. All three of these communities are grouped together on the Interval International website with no discussion of the vibrant differences that location provides. A client from the Midwest or East with an upscale property will unlikely be unhappy to learn that following several hours of flight and rental car drive that the family will be vacationing near I-70 or in a poorly located time-share. Beavercreek, Colorado is near Avon, Colorado, and the difference in ambience is equal to the vertical difference between the two villages. Several years ago, my wife and I viewed the construction of St. James Place in Beaver Creek; then we experienced a sales tour. The developers of St. James Place in Beaver Creek incorporated the aesthetics of a mountain property that blended in perfectly with the architecture of Beaver Creek. Zoning regulations are vital to a tony community such as Beaver Creek. The insouciant time-share owner may visit the Vail, Avon, and Beavercreek page at Interval International, and "discover" 16 properties. These properties are vastly different, and woe to the decision-maker who chooses poorly for his family. Beaver Creek has several very fine properties, and some research is necessary. Beaver Creek has become a true four-season resort village and is home to some very expensive second and permanent homes. The minute I saw St. James Place available, I traded for a summer week. St. James Place at 210 Offerson Road, P.O. Box 1512, Avon, CO 81620 970-845-9300 800-626-7100) is not in Avon; the property is in Beaver Creek. This property offers 1-4 bedrooms and bathrooms. The two photos on the website will provide only a glimpse of the appointments of this property. The website provides the following description: Located in the heart of the prestigious Beaver Creek Resort Village, St. James Place provides the ideal mountain vacation home. Shopping, dining, ice-skating, and the Vilar Performing Arts Center are outside your door. Both downhill and cross-country skiing are available, or you can visit the slopes at Vail nine miles away. In the summer, hiking, horseback riding, fly-fishing, golf, and a myriad of other activities are nearby. After a busy day, relax by the indoor pool, work out in the exercise room, or enjoy dinner at the restaurant on-site. I booked a reservation for one of their condos that is not refundable. Talked with their front desk regarding the property before making the reservation including dates for my trip. After I booked and can't cancel I received an email that the property is under renovation and the courtyard would be closed and there would be exterior work going on during my stay. Every one of their rooms is impacted by noise in the courtyard on a good day let alone crews jackhammering the whole time. I feel like their employee should have let me know. We stayed at the St James Place hotel in July of 2025 in a 4 bedroom condo. The location was great, close to all the activities taking place in and around the hotel, all within walking distance. The hotel renovations did not affect us either. The pool, hot tubs and steam rooms were great. We did find the condo to have some issues. *The sliding door to our balcony would not lock or close. *The garbage disposal did not work. *The upstairs TV did not work. *Some of the TV's would only work if you had a DVD, it would have been nice to know so we could have brought some with us. *The closests in the bedrooms and laundry room were full of paint cans and full garbage bags. We let maintenance know of the issues, they fixed the broken door and garbage disposal but were unable to get the TV working. We never did find a vacum cleaner but we did not ask the front desk if there was one to use. House keeping or maintenance should have done a better job in checking out the condo. read more

Reviewing this wonderful hotel a year late ( was there during thanksgiving 2018). Now reminded as I'm planning our next skiing trip. Perfect location & great staff. The lobby is warm & inviting with spacious atmosphere, comfy couches, TV's & complimentary drinks. Rooms were always kept clean & they kept true to the holiday spirit with decorations set for Christmas. Went there for skiing purposes so this particular hotel was at a decent proximity to, ski slopes, ice skating rink, shopping & multiple restaurant walking distance. Indoor pool , sauna & the outdoor hot tub on a balcony with a view adds a charming touch. read more

Very cozy condo-residence building that is conveniently located a block from Beaver Creek Ski Resort main lift. We stayed here in February-2022 using a discount from the Epic Season Pass--but given that we paid over $2500/night for a large 3-bd/3-bath condo, I think you can find better priced units elsewhere. For the high price, this place is NOT exactly on-mountain as there are many buildings including the Park Hyatt and Osprey hotel that are closer to the main lift. Below are the key things I learned if planning a trip to Beaver Creek: -- Beaver Creek is mostly a blue/intermediate mountain. It is a large mountain however with three "peaks" about 11,000-12,000 ft at the peak. Base is above 8,000 where the Village is. -- Eagle Airport (EGE) is close at 40 mins away. Avoid Denver airport which is over 3-4 hrs away and full of traffic. --Best coffee is Vail Coffee near the main lift area. Great breakfast snacks too. -- Sign up for the Epic Season pass BEFOREHAND because lift tix run about $250/day. We are based in NorCal, and we (6) all had the Epic Tahoe Local pass which is good at Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly and a bunch of spots in Colorado. If you ski/ride for 3 days, then you've already paid for a season pass, but you can always ski for just a few hrs and avoid traffic! --Beaver Creek Village is a nice but small walking village with no car needed. There is a quaint ice skating rink, grocery mart and pizza place all within a stone's throw from St. James. --If booking kids lessons, do this in December/January because they will sell out for the remainder of the year. We thankfully did despite the $500/day ski school cost. (about the same cost in Tahoe....) --Snowmobiling for a half-day is a blast, only about 30 mins away and well worth it. 7 of us cost about $1k including tip for the guided tour. --The Horse sleigh ride/dinner was also a really great way to spend the evening after skiing. It is about 40 mins away and Vess limo (SUV) svc charges about $250 each way with tip additional. --You can also book dog sledding if your group is small. This is very popular and thus needs to be booked way in advance. The concierge (Janice) was absolutely fantastic and unbelievably helpful--better than Ritz concierge. She helped arrange for grocery delivery BEFORE our arrival, arranged car service to/from nearby Eagle airport (EGE) , Our condo was a large private residence with a full kitchen, dining table and living room area with 2 small patios offering views of the mountain. For $2500 per night, you can probably find much cheaper options than what I booked for us....just look around. Town of Avon has home rental options, but may require a car or shuttle to hit the ski mountain. If you prefer close access to the lifts, then strongly recommend to stay in the Village. There is a free shuttle service throughout the Village if needed too. read more

It has a great location. Very close to terrific restaurants _and_ a ski rental shop. I really liked the heated garage. Wow! I could run back and forth to my car w/out my parka. I have only the tiniest of criticisms... the hot water was *not* very hot. I mentioned this to the front desk and they had the maintenance staff look at it right away. However, It wasn't any hotter that night or the next day. We visited the first week of December during the covid "season". They appear to take covid precautions seriously. I'm very pleased to see that. We'll be back again for sure. read more

We stayed here both times (4 years apart) on our snowboard trips at Beaver Creek. Hotel staffs are really nice and friendly, quick to respond to our needs and requests during both of our stays. The hotel rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, but a bit dated. The hotel have an indoor swimming pool, steam room and a sauna. Also an indoor and outdoor hot tub. We especially like the outdoor hot tub, perfect for a day after ski/snowboard on the mountain! It's located at the other end of the village with a more quiet environment, yet still only steps away for it all. read more

I love this hotel! Great location in Beaver Creek and we had a wonderful experience here. We came in September 2016. The amenities were great and you can't beat the location. We stayed in a three bedroom condo with an amazing view of the mountain. The front desk had great customer service. Matt was helpful, polite, and gave us great suggestions for activities and food around Beaver Creek. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends! read more

My parents have owned a place here for many years and come every winter and summer. The whole place just got renovated not too long ago and it's stunning. It used to have a lodge feel but now has a lobby like a major hotel and facilities to match. The location in the village is perfect and there's nothing more than 100 paces away from food to shopping to skiing to ice skating. Every morning there's free coffee and cocoa and free Nature Valley granola bars for bfast or a snack on the slopes. The pool and gym are nice and both hot tubs are a hit, especially the outdoor one. The staff is excellent and the rooms are comfortable with all the amenities including AC, Keurig beverage makers, awesome rain showers and big jacuzzi tubs. It's a superb home away from home with no luxury spared. read more

I stayed here with my brother and his family. Fantastic customer service. Over looks Beaver Creek Village and it's a quick walk to the slopes. Love that they have an indoor hot tub and pool for after skiing. The suite we stayed in was spacious with a full kitchen and fireplace. It was a very pleasant stay. read more

One of the best hotel experiences I've had. Everything was taken care of from the start of my trip till the moment I left. One of the ladies from reception, I believe her name was Amanda, went out of her way on more than one occasion to share her advice on the valley and make suggestions that made my trip more than I would have imagined. Another wonderful stay here at St James Place. Beaver Creek is such a fun place to be with the ice skating rink and hiking trails. Well maintained building with nice pool/spa area. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED IN! My first negative yelp review I've ever left. I will go out of my way to tell people not to go here. You will get better guest service at a motel, which I've stayed in plenty of those! Ive stayed at the Ritz, the Hyatt, and I drive back and forth across the country staying in all types of hotels and motels all the way up to George V in Paris, I've never complained once in any place I stayed ..... I don't need fancy things or complain if I'm not in a 5 star hotel until this horrible place They have the worst customer service I've ever experienced, you call down to get coffee creamer ( because they never refilled our coffee station when we had them clean my room) and they'll tell you to come down and get it.... called the next day because they didn't bring shampoo and conditioner ( after they were suppose to "clean" our room) Our tv stopped working they send someone up who couldn't fix it so we have two different remotes now and the tv goes off and freezes all the time.... after the tv wasn't fixed they called us at 7:30 am, our day to sleep in, to say they found a slip saying we needed our tv fixed. We told them they already came And no they didn't fix it....lastly found out non of my sheets have been cleaned one since we've left the "clean room" sign, one of my socks that fell of sleeping, I found in the bed after 3 days of "cleaning" our room. By our 5th night I started hiding stuff in the bed and NOT ONE TIME IN 5 DAYS did they change the sheets because the hidden item would be right in the middle of the bed ( I know most hotels won't clean sheets everyday or change towels for the environment, and you'll have to ask for them changed but they don't give you that option or mention that...they just don't change the sheets, they're housekeepingis horrible. There was trash behind the nightstand that's been here for who knows long because it wasn't ours...they're not accommodating the staff doesn't care , they're so put out if they have to lift a finger ( except this one girl Jen was the nicest person ever) the customer service here is horrible.... DO NOT GO HERE. I've worked at beaver creek for awhile and I'm absolutely shocked a place like this exists in this area..... seriously go ANYWHERE but here, no matter what shift is on they all seem to be a lazy uncaring staff and the GM needs to go, very condescending when you try to approach them nicely... I'm telling you it may be cheaper than ritz or Hyatt but go to any other hotel this one is NOT worth it. read more
