Outdoor hot tub with a view

Reviewing this wonderful hotel a year late ( was there during thanksgiving 2018). Now reminded as I'm planning our next skiing trip. Perfect location & great staff. The lobby is warm & inviting with spacious atmosphere, comfy couches, TV's & complimentary drinks. Rooms were always kept clean & they kept true to the holiday spirit with decorations set for Christmas. Went there for skiing purposes so this particular hotel was at a decent proximity to, ski slopes, ice skating rink, shopping & multiple restaurant walking distance. Indoor pool , sauna & the outdoor hot tub on a balcony with a view adds a charming touch.

Very cozy condo-residence building that is conveniently located a block from Beaver Creek Ski Resort main lift. We stayed here in February-2022 using a discount from the Epic Season Pass--but given that we paid over $2500/night for a large 3-bd/3-bath condo, I think you can find better priced units elsewhere. For the high price, this place is NOT exactly on-mountain as there are many buildings including the Park Hyatt and Osprey hotel that are closer to the main lift. Below are the key things I learned if planning a trip to Beaver Creek: -- Beaver Creek is mostly a blue/intermediate mountain. It is a large mountain however with three "peaks" about 11,000-12,000 ft at the peak. Base is above 8,000 where the Village is. -- Eagle Airport (EGE) is close at 40 mins away. Avoid Denver airport which is over 3-4 hrs away and full of traffic. --Best coffee is Vail Coffee near the main lift area. Great breakfast snacks too. -- Sign up for the Epic Season pass BEFOREHAND because lift tix run about $250/day. We are based in NorCal, and we (6) all had the Epic Tahoe Local pass which is good at Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly and a bunch of spots in Colorado. If you ski/ride for 3 days, then you've already paid for a season pass, but you can always ski for just a few hrs and avoid traffic! --Beaver Creek Village is a nice but small walking village with no car needed. There is a quaint ice skating rink, grocery mart and pizza place all within a stone's throw from St. James. --If booking kids lessons, do this in December/January because they will sell out for the remainder of the year. We thankfully did despite the $500/day ski school cost. (about the same cost in Tahoe....) --Snowmobiling for a half-day is a blast, only about 30 mins away and well worth it. 7 of us cost about $1k including tip for the guided tour. --The Horse sleigh ride/dinner was also a really great way to spend the evening after skiing. It is about 40 mins away and Vess limo (SUV) svc charges about $250 each way with tip additional. --You can also book dog sledding if your group is small. This is very popular and thus needs to be booked way in advance. The concierge (Janice) was absolutely fantastic and unbelievably helpful--better than Ritz concierge. She helped arrange for grocery delivery BEFORE our arrival, arranged car service to/from nearby Eagle airport (EGE) , Our condo was a large private residence with a full kitchen, dining table and living room area with 2 small patios offering views of the mountain. For $2500 per night, you can probably find much cheaper options than what I booked for us....just look around. Town of Avon has home rental options, but may require a car or shuttle to hit the ski mountain. If you prefer close access to the lifts, then strongly recommend to stay in the Village. There is a free shuttle service throughout the Village if needed too.

During the pandemic I understand you have to temper your expectations but this hotel was crazy understaffed. Like one person at the front desk and one valet. That was it. We had to get our bags to and from the room. There apparently was a ski valet but the front desk gave us no clue how to locate it. They just didn't know. They didn't take our skis there. It was plain weird. The signs in the hotel say no skis in the rooms but we had no choice! No one could tell us where the ski valet was. It was located in a non descript door by Christy's. We found it on day two. Also, no one could tell us where the illustrious ski bridge was that supposedly makes the hotel ski in and ski out. We figured it out on our last day of skiing. I believe it is called the Creekside Trail or something. Note the hotel is only ski in. And you have take off your skis to cross a fairly busy road. There is no skiing out from the ski bridge. The room was bigger than usual so that was good. But if the staff can't provide basic information about the hotel, given how much Marriott charges for this hotel, I can't recommend. It's just ok. Might as well stay at the Best Western in Eagle for a fraction of the cost and drive in.

The staff makes it so incredibly special. While some of the past staff have since left and we miss them so much, the new hires have been so wonderful. Kudos to the hiring team! Valets Austin and Braxton are so kind and polite and helpful! Emely and Vanessa at the front desk were also fantastic! Housekeeping staff were also amazing - the rooms are pristine and clean. They quickly brought up a microwave (by request) and any additional items we needed. And it was great meeting the new manager Jack who is great!! (Prior managers Leiahana & Kyle were also great! - a legacy of greatness :) To give an example of how wonderful staff members are - I was waiting for an elevator and was carrying a few drinks (from their awesome new seltzer dispenser) and TWICE a Beaver Creek staff member offered to get the elevator for me - that would be ***Heather*** and ***David*** - they were so enthusiastic and friendly about it! The location is so convenient - with free shuttles or the option to ski out and it's only a 10 minute walk from the base of the mountain. Close enough for convenience, but far enough to be away from the crowds. The views are so lovely. While we didn't dine at the Grouse Mountain Inn this time, just wanted to share the views from there during the day are stunning. Love the workout room, steam room, heated pool, and hot tub. So family friendly! There's even a washer/dryer on the 3rd floor!!! We do miss the buffet breakfast that was included a year or so ago. And would be helpful to have a small conference room for guest use in case work needed to be done or a private call taken. Regardless, we LOVE the Pines and can't wait to return and hopefully one day bring our grandchildren!!! God bless you all at the Pines!!! Heartfelt gratitude.

All of our guests stayed here and everyone raved about the quality of accommodation, the attentiveness of service, superb amenities, exceptional on-premise dining, and the delight of ski-in / ski-out at a world-class mountain. The rooms here are very well appointed and the staff ensures that every possible need is attended to. From the crew at the valet station, the concierge desk (who host daily après ski hot chocolate and fresh-baked cookie parties!), the housekeeping team, the ski valets, the spa attendants, and all of the wonderful F&B folks, the service here is impeccable. The hotel amenities include an elegant spa, well-equipped gym, pilates and yoga studios, heated salt water pool, and three infinity hot tubs that are perfect for après ski soaking. Of particular note, the Westin has updated its Ski Valet shop which offers faultless service for those availing themselves of the Beaver Creek Ski resort. The valets bring your skis to the Gondola which is right outside the door! The lobby bar, the Lookout Bar, and the Stoke and Rye served our guests with superbly crafted food and drink. It should be mentioned that Chef Richard Sandoval is leaving so Stoke & Rye is being repurposed into an Italian eatery under the guidance of a new Chef - we look forward to experiencing this new venue. We held an arrival dinner for our guests in a private space - the Osprey Room - and the food, drink, and ambiance were exceptional. The room was cozy yet spacious and created a warm, welcoming environment for our guests who traveled from all three coasts. We want to make particular mention of our hostess, Sonja Eichenberger. Sonja managed every aspect of our affair, ensuring every dimension of a large party was attended to the last detail. Sonja listened to the Bride's comments and discerned solutions that were both creative and thoughtful. We had several dignitaries in our party - two Senators, a US Attorney, and a Fox News commentator - and Sonja saw to it that consideration was made for both their privacy and security. Much of the success of our special event rests with Sonja. The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Avon is an exquisitely fashionable property but it is the staff that makes the experience special. Thank you Sonja for making our week at the Westin a lifelong memory!
