You know the story. You leave the club with your friend after a great night of dancing and…read moreflirting. You walk home full of laughs when suddenly you pause and turn to each other and say: "Is that a naked man running?" And viola you are lying on the ground and when I came to my friend was passed out with a bloody mouth on the street. Thankfully some good Samaritans took control of the situation. The ambulance man was fantastic and so where the nurses and doctors as they got a great kick out of the fact that a naked man ran us over. The receptionist was awful, extremely rude, unpleasant woman that got an attitude with my dazed friend because she had the temerity to spell her last name for her: "I can spell you know!" Of course I lost it with her and told her to learn some manners. A fascinating insight into the Irish psyche as the place was populated with mainly drink related incidents. Something very socially vacant about that. I wonder will Diageo pick up the bill? My friend is grand yet my ass has a huge bruise on it which makes sitting rather annoying. Beware of a naked lunatic running the streets of Dublin who has a tiny package. Complete eejit.

Myself and other People needing urgent care left sitting there for hours on end falling asleep on the seats. Junkies using drugs in the toilets you could get the horrible smell of it in the waiting room. Came in suicidal etc they gave me prescription for useless depressant tablets and told me to get on with it, refused to diagnose anything, Sadly I won't come back here the level care for suicidality and obvious mental health issues is incompetent and useless. The staff can see people sooner there often sitting in the office doing nothing anyways. The mental health services in this country are so bad, been in hospitals all over dublin and even discharged either given a prescription or or help lines sheet and thats it thanks to fine fall and finnana gael ruining the country, All in all very disappointing, clearly government is at fault. Won't set foot in here again the wait times are terrible.

No follow up care since. No query as to my symptoms worsening or improving. Hospital Nurses and Dr amazing but the emergency department is no longer fit for purpose. Its too small, over crowded and cramped. People on trolleys packed in like sardines. Dr and nurses constantly shuffling trolleys jus to make contact and get to side of a patient to examine them. People in A&E tying up beds in A&E because they cant be admitted to wards, during the night. Knock on effect. A&E staff have no space to work with patients out in waiting rooms Also think the computer system is inadequate and outdated. Im witnessing to many Dr spending far too much time sitting at computers instead of carrying out primary care function. Whichvis seeing and evaluating patients. Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, phone charger, food and water with you. So you can lie down on floor while you wait. It will be more vomfotable than chairs provided and some seating is outdoors in a tent that was temporarily erected to deal with covid but is now in everyday use.

I was here recently to do some follow up investigations on some medical complications I had been…read morehaving. When you first arrive into the building, it can be a bit overwhelming and confusing, however the people working at the receptionist desk were SUPER helpful each time in making sure you were in the right place, and directing you where you needed to go. In case you can't find the receptionist desk, it looks like a weird turquoise cone. The first time I went, I saw a specialist. The staff were helpful, and I didn't have to wait long. The specialist I saw was also very attentive, and and actually took time to answer all my questions and listened to what I had to say (as opposed to some doctors who seem to just want to get you in and out). The second time I was there, I was in the day care unit having a bunch of tests done. Everything was thoroughly explained before it was done, and everyone made every effort to make sure I was as comfortable as possible (considering the tests I was having done). I'm a bit scared of needles, but each person who had to prod me was very good at keeping me distracted and making the needle part of the tests quick. The only downside, or frustrating part, was that when I arrived at Day Care, apparently they told EVERYONE in day card that day to arrive at the same time, and I had to wait a little bit because my bed wasn't ready yet. If I have to have tests or follow-ups in the future would be very happy having them done in this hospital. The nursing staff is great, supportive, and extremely nice.

nice staff, nice facilities, but oh. my. god. is it the most confusing place ever to visit. i've…read moregone there twice - once to a consultant and once to get a random test done. the first time, the whole place was torn apart and under some serious construction so even trying to follow the signs to find the right building was like navigating a labyrinth, in the dark. the second time, it was all finished so anything i'd achieved in forming a kind of map in my head was completely negated. i actually wandered around a bit before running into another lost soul who approached me hoping i had a map. heh. we ventured off together in search of our destinations. once i got in there (the second time) and wandered the immense lobby for a minute trying to figure out where to go, i gave up and approached the info desk. the staff there rang the department they thought i needed to go to and asked them if they did the sort of test i was sent over to get. i was directed upstairs to the department where again, i managed to get lost. ok, i will admit a certain genetic failing in having a sense of direction, but COME ON. after running around lost a bit, a nice nurse-type-person approached me and pointed me in the right direction. i asked for the person the info desk had spoken to on the phone and they seemed to not have had that conversation. in any case, they rang someone else and within about 10 minutes, i was back in an exam room getting my test done. so pretty much the point here is that it may be the most confusing place on earth and the staff may not know what the hell is going on but at least the facilities are really nice and modern and the staff are willing to help you figure out where you're going :)

The nurses in particular are dedicated to their patients and their jobs. I've been attending different hospitals all of my life for my diabetes care and this is the first hospital where I feel the doctors really fight for you, especially on the renal team. Most doctors talk over your head but I feel my consultant and registrar really make an effort to make sure I understand exactly what is going on. Phlebotomy department are brilliant, so underrated! Ive always had problems having blood drawn but these guys really put you at ease and ive less and less problems now. The downside of this hospital is its a&e. Its so poorly managed and understaffed. I was in a&e for 4 nights on a trolley when i got a really bad kidney infection and at one point I was in pain and tears for 2 hours waiting for someone to be available to give me some parecetemol. The first time i visited, they gave me a blood pressure tablet and sent me home after 7 hours without so much as looking any further. The doctor on call was too busy messing around and finding a nurse to do an ekg he didnt know how to use to bother looking into it any further. I swear it was like they picked him off the street and put him in scrubs.(It turned out my high blood pressure was a sign of my kidneys in trouble and I was back in a&e a week later and admitted for over a week.) Parking is expensive, food and drink are expensive but exactly what you'd expect for hospital prices. However, there is a Tesco kust over the road if you need to grab something for a patient so Id recommend going there. Overall, Vincents is a good hospital and the clinic I attend is efficiently run but I would need to be on my last dying breath before I risked that a&e department again!
