Sigler Cove Marina

Sigler Cove Marina

Sigler Cove Marina has completely failed to protect its elderly and disabled residents…read more An elderly man in his 70s was harassed and victimized for months. Another tenant stole from his boat, spray-painted his car, threw feces on his boat, and dumped a substance that made his dog Thor very sick. Management was told about every incident and begged repeatedly to evict or restrict the person. Their only response was always "We can't do anything." When the same man assaulted me, smashing my phone, knocking me down, and causing a concussion and worsening injuries, management received a police report and a formal 24-hour eviction demand. They still did almost nothing. It took over four months of complaints, an assault, and repeated requests before the person was finally removed. After I helped the elderly tenant and became a victim myself, I was singled out. Management suddenly demanded I clean up my dock finger and remove everything around my boat, while other tenants continue to have massive piles of junk and trash all over their areas. When I pointed this out, I was told "Don't think I'm singling you out" -- even though I was clearly the only one being forced to clean up. The docks are also dangerous, with large holes that canes can fall through, severely uneven fingers, and multiple tripping hazards that still haven't been fixed. This marina protected the aggressor while elderly and disabled tenants lived in fear. I will update this review if the hazards are repaired and the property is made safe.

If I could put a minus star review I would. The female manager in slip 63 is really something else…read more I was hired to pick up a sailboat for a young couple who lived on it. The manager took a liking to the boat and said that the columbia sheriff had called her and warned her about me. Which I thought was funny since they didn't have my name so how could the sheriff have possibly contacted her about me when neither the sheriff nor the manager knew my last name. Come to find out the manager was currently living in a sailboat that she had scammed off of the girls mother who had actually bought the sailboat that I was hired to retrieve. Giess she had gotten away with it before and was trying to upgrade using the same trick. The manager ( and I use that term loosely) belongs behind bars. My advice... stay away from this marina and the manager. Bad news all the way around!

Fred's Marina - Father n law taking me fishing

Wow! Talk about hometown customer service - these folks saved us from what could have been an…read moreabsolutely miserable day! Our guide that I had booked several weeks in advance had a case of the "I'm a wuss and don't want to fish in the rain"-itis and cancelled our trip at 10pm the night BEFORE we were supposed to meet at 6:30am!! To be fair, totalfisherman.com refunded our deposit and fishing licenses. This was no consolation considering my boyfriend and I flew out from Virginia largely to take this fishing trip. I called Fred's Marina around 9am the next morning after fuming and sleeping poorly the night before, and told them our tale of woe. Within five minutes, Tom Burgess of Bigulp Guide services called and said he'd meet us at the Marina in two hours!! We arrived at Fred's - unpretentious and stocked with the basics. The service and people there earn them the 5 plus stars. We were wholly unprepared for the downpour that was awaiting us, so Dave let us borrow two of his rubber rain suits - truly a lifesaver. They bent over backwards to help us negotiate the licensing debacle that had started the tension with the first fishing guide. (you can buy one-day licenses and tags at Fred's...don't bother buying them online prior to fishing!!) Stephanie called ODFW directly and went to bat for us, trying to help with a refund for non-printed but purchased licenses. Anyway, really had a great experience with Fred's service and all-around helpfulness. Wish I had a boat that I could moor there :-) Happy Fishing!

"Fred's Marina Your Gateway to Fun on the Multnomah Channel"…read more This marina has a lot going for it. The location is perfect - on the head of the Multnomah Channel directly off the Willamette River and only 3 miles to Kelly Point on the Columbia River. The Marina is unpretentious filled with fishing boats, sailboats and power boats. It has a little store stocked with the basic necessities from soda pop to hot dogs and maps to bait and is staffed by the nicest family. The bathrooms are spotless! I repeat the bathrooms are SPOTLESS. The gas prices are also more reasonable than some other on the water pumps. Summer moorage and trailer storage is affordable and makes getting out and spending time on the boat so much easier. This is not the place to tie up your yacht or luxury performance boat and expect everyone on the dock to be impressed or even care for that matter. Fred's Marina is simple and feels like old Portland. Well, considering they opened in 1946 and have in been operation by the same family since, it truly is old Portland. My grandparents first brought me to Fred's in the mid 1970's. We would pull up to the dock, chat with the folks about what's biting and who caught what, buy a candy bar and then push off. It's pretty much the same today. Thanks Fred's for keeping it real.

The folks who run the place keep everything sparkling clean. There is a huge restroom and a smaller one and they are open year round and are very clean. The slips seem to have all the amenities and a number of people live on their boats there year round. Always enjoy talking with the people there and taking pictures of any new vessels that look interesting. It's a very short walk to town where there are places to eat and shop. Cathlamet is a nice little town with mostly friendly people (the local cops excluded). The cabins have been there for a long time and look to be cozy enough although I am not one who would enjoy neighbors so close to me if I went there specifically to get away from people. But I rarely see any vehicles parked there off season so I'm guessing you would mostly be by yourself if you rented one. The view up river is nice and on a warm, sunny day it can be quite pleasant just hanging out there.

They have very nice showers and laundry facility's. My only issue is that the sites have no sewer hook ups. The day before we were leaving we did notice that there are 3 sites that have sewer but they were all full. The town is adorable and it is close enough to a town and all amenities. 100% will be back.
