I feel my property is very secure here. I feel like the community at RP is just wonderful. Deck boards are being replaced all the time but some are a bit splinter prone. I had my boat serviced by the yard. 40hp 2 stroke. No complaints. I felt pricing was fair. They're busy. You're gonna have to wait. I may extend another 6 months even tho there are other marinas closer to places I spend time at. I use my boat 3 to 4 days a week for fishing and boat camping.

Everything is well maintained and the office staff is very professional. Only downside is their rates are quite high compared to competitors, and being on Hayden Island can be tough traffic wise going north on i 5 in the afternoon.

If you're running low on fuel, bait, tackle, snacks or beer because you didn't plan ahead this place can cover you. The gas is a bit spendy, but most marinas are. I've never used the boat launch or moored my boat there as I live in Washington and use those launches mostly. I hear you can buy an Oregon State fishing license there, but haven't done it myself.

I recently purchased a boat, and was told I could take over the spot who previously owned the boat. Seemed to all go well, I went into the office paid for the month of September and gave them my bank information so the costs could come directly out of my account each month. Later starting the next day, I started getting calls from Toni in the front office, who was very rude, and aggressive to the point, I didn't feel comfortable even having a conversation with her. She was asking me questions, about my boyfriend who also had a slip in the marina. She accused him of breaking into my boat and living on my boat. She made insinuations that we had met at the marina and that he was taking advantage of me. Which was not true. The next day he went to the marina to pay for his slip, and then got on my boat because I asked him to get something for me, I had left behind, since he was going to be there that day. After charging me twice, and after I spent $120.00 filling up my boat with their gas, I was told to leave the Marina because I let someone on my boat. (who has a key) I was never given credit back for any of the money I spent. And then I had to find another marina and pay for September moorage again. They also said my boyfriend was kicked out of the Marina. No one called him, they expected me to tell him. He also did not get any of his money back. After taking $500.00 from us, they kicked us out the next day, and did not give us a credit for anything. And left me in a very stressful situation finding another place to moorage the boat. I called the Harbor Master hoping that they would work with me, at least letting me stay until the end of the month (since I already paid) but he stood behind his employee, and did not work with me. I understand things happen, and there was some misunderstanding in place. No rules were ever explained to me. I was nothing but polite and accommodating to the staff. There was no communicating to Toni, nothing I said would have helped. I felt bullied and scared to even say anything. This Marina is very unprofessional and, in the end, I'm glad that I'm no longer there, but wanted to tell my story and bad experience. Make sure you get things in writing from them. June 1, 2015 This is Sauvie Island Yacht Club's home base…read moremarina. Reciprocal privileges are offered to other yacht clubs. Check SIYC dot org for info. The concrete docks are in perfect condition. Each slip has metered electric and a hose bib with potable water. (It is safe to fill your tanks here.) Easy access to the Columbia River. There is an underwater sand bar near the marina entrance that occasionally causes problems for deep draft sailboats. Check your chart for depth and location. Don't recommend swimming in the marina (water quality.) The restrooms are very clean and well stocked. There is one shower and two stalls in each restroom. With over 200 boats here, there is occasionally a wait for the facilities on busy weekends. There is free ice all year round and a washer ($1.75) and a dryer ($2.25) onsite, which is really convenient. The marina is under the fight path for Portland International Airport. The jets are loud enough at times to halt conversation. The military also flies out of PDX. PDX closes at night, so there is usually no air traffic from 11:00 pm - 6:00 am. Sexton Chandlery and Hidden Bay Café is within walking Distance. A mile west of the marina on the west end of Hayden Island (walking distance if you don't have too much to carry back) is the liquor store, Safeway, Home Depot, Target, West Marine, and a bunch of other retailers and restaurants, including Stanford's and Boomers (great pork BBQ). Due to the current construction of several huge apartment buildings surrounding the marina, parking is limited and cars are covered with dust daily. Driving to and from the marina on Tomahawk Island Drive is easy during the week, but maddening on the weekend. Cars park on both sides of the street leave only one lane open to two way traffic. See more recent reviews for any updates to this situation. I-5 northbound is a parking lot daily from 2:30 - 6:30, so getting to Hayden Island during that time takes a good hour from downtown Portland. Pretty quick if you're driving south from Vancouver, WA. The marina has a very liberal pet policy. Dogs are everywhere. Unfortunately, some of the pet owners aren't very diligent about Portland's leash laws and scoop laws. Enforcement is needed. Check more recent reviews to see if this has changed. The current Harbormaster, Justin, is an exceptional service professional. If you need help during your stay at Salpare, Justin is very accommodating. If he can't provide a solution, he will point you in the right direction. He is a true asset to the marina. He will be missed very much!

We rented…read moreBrandon's Monark 205 Sun Lounger deck boat (see photos) and it runs great with a 130 hp outboard. With three passengers, we got a max speed of 30 kts and cruised very comfortably on plane at 22 kts. This is not a new boat and is missing its windshield, but it has a bimini shade and plenty of seating. The seat conditions and such are expected of an older boat, but we are here for the Oregon water experience, not two-tone leatherette. There is no online booking, so text PDX Watersports and the response is fast. Coordinating times and getting a price quote was super easy too. If you are used to renting from overpriced corprate operators, think of this as the opposite-- the hometown small business owner. Chinook Landing boat ramp has plenty of parking and is out of the Portland traffic/busy areas. If you are renting on the 4th of July or some other peak day, expect peak conditions at launch and on the river. We had a quiet, summer Friday on the water instead. Deposit was returned within 60 minutes of getting back to the dock (and inspecting the boat and prop of course!). I would definitely recommend PDX Water Sports if you are an experienced boater looking for a great time on the Columbia or Williamette. I sense a lot of the negative reviewers are people who don't know much about boating, planing speeds, weight distribution, or safe operation of a vessel. Looking forward to doing this again the next time we visit Portland!

We did not like some features on the '26 model. We looked at a used 2020 32 CB at Sundance on Lake Union. Jake helped us with viewing and doing sea trials. Jake was very responsive, got back with us quickly when we had questions, was easy to work with and never pressured us. He drove up from Portland to Seattle several times during the buying process. Time saved from loading, unloading and carrying boats makes it well worth the storage fee and makes regular paddling exercise a lot easier. And there's Marlon, the Harbormaster. He is a very cheerful and pleasant presence at the docks. He knows the area well and makes good recommendations. He's always happy to lend a hand, and sets a great tone for the friendly vibe at the docks.
