The receptionist once cited her own made up "11th Commandment," to justify not allowing me to pick up my own child. The school now claims I am my son's grandpa for some reason. I found errors in this year's student/parent handbook then I looked at last years and found the same errors so they're obviously copying and pasting each year and not checking anything. They excluded me from being an emergency contact and when I finally got access to the medical records they have on file for my son I found critical errors regarding his most serious allergic reaction. To fix the error all that was needed was to change 1 word on a 1 page document. It's been 4 months since I brought their error to their attention and have yet to receive confirmation that they fixed it and just today after finding out they refer to me as my son's grandfather my son's teacher dm's me telling me wtf she doesn't appreciate. This is a religious school and in the handbook the first mention of "God," is literally a disclosure that informs you that you won't get your tuition money back if an act of "God" shuts down the school. I think the Devil might be the Principal.

We have always felt the teachers and administration are willing to work with us to create a strong and well rounded educational experience. It is also so fun to see all the different age girls interacting since there are girls from pre-k 3 through 12th grade on the campus. The girls often get a chance to feel like a leader. Also we are not catholic and have never felt out of place as a family here. Highly recommend!

The school constantly preached, "We are a family," but that couldn't have been farther from the truth. It felt more like being trapped in a prison where no one cared about you--especially if you didn't fit their idea of the "perfect" student. I have a learning disability, and instead of offering support, the school made me feel like I was a burden. The teachers completely ignored my struggles and acted as if my needs were too much for them to handle. They couldn't be bothered to help me succeed and made it clear that if you weren't one of their "ideal" students, you didn't matter. The bullying was relentless, and it was allowed to thrive. I was made fun of constantly, and the teachers never intervened. They didn't care. I went to them for help, and their response was always the same: dismissive and uninterested. It was like I didn't exist unless I was falling in line with their expectations. They let the bullying continue, creating an environment that was toxic, unsafe, and emotionally damaging. Instead of being a family, this school felt like a place where kids were pitted against each other, and the weak were left to fend for themselves. I was held back because of this school. Instead of providing me with the help I needed to succeed, they let me fall behind and made me feel like I wasn't good enough. The lack of support and care destroyed my confidence and left me feeling worthless. They didn't help me overcome my challenges; they just made them worse. I had to repeat a grade because of their failure to provide any meaningful support or accommodations for my learning disability. I should have been given the resources to succeed, but they chose to push me aside and let me fail. And the tuition--don't even get me started. We paid an absurd amount of money for this so-called education, but all we got in return was a toxic, neglectful environment. The money went into the pockets of the administration, while the students received no extra help, no special accommodations, and no real education. It felt like we were just another dollar sign to them, nothing more. They were more interested in maintaining their "prestige" than actually helping the students who needed it the most. In the end, I left Duchesne feeling completely broken and defeated. The school didn't just fail me academically--it ruined my sense of self-worth. I was left emotionally scarred, and I had to fight to rebuild my confidence. It wasn't a place that nurtured growth, learning, or self-esteem. It was a place where kids were ignored, bullied, and made to feel like they weren't good enough. I wouldn't wish this school on my worst enemy. If your child has a learning disability, or if they don't fit into the mold of the "perfect" student, don't send them here. Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart will not help them thrive. It will break them. This school doesn't care about the students--it only cares about money and its own image. It's a toxic, harmful place that promises a family but delivers nothing but pain, neglect, and failure.

The school has had a tremendous impact on our children's spiritual and academic growth and has deepened our Christian faith as a family. One of the highlights is the first-period Bible study, which focuses on various chapters of Scripture. It sets a meaningful tone for the day and grounds the students in truth. As a hybrid model, the school does require parental involvement in overseeing your child's work. It's allowed me to read many of the classic works I missed growing up. The curriculum is thoughtfully selected by the administration and is excellent. I've also had the opportunity to teach and coach at the school. It's a wonderful community of students and families. I highly recommend it!

Former student here: I want to warn all of you about enrolling here. I've been here a for couple of…read moreyears of high school and it's been by far the worst experience of my life. I became suicidal, depressed and anxious because of this school and I've also got ptsd from here which digs into my Christian faith. Now when I study a certain book of the Bible or hear a certain hymn, I can no longer enjoy it because it brings me back here. Just last week was I at a Bible Study and it reminded me too much of the Bible Studies here at SBSUM and I started having a panic attack. This school is very controlling for a school of only 300 students and they have ridiculous rules because they don't want to address the real problem. They also lack organization skills and time management as a school who tries to promote that for their students. For the first year in this school, some emails that I should have received I never did and I spent time being lost because I did not know what was going on due to me not receiving those emails. This school is a HUGE FAN of sending out important info very late. This school would send out emails about events coming up two days before the event occurs, not giving me time to plan out my schedule and causing me to miss the event. I have had teachers send out emails about class at 10pm the day before. Even one time I had a teacher asking us to print out a short story and bring it to class 6am the day of. School here can also be very stressful. For example, I've had teachers who would assign WAAAY too much homework, such as 48 math problems due the next day or 50 pages of reading. I've also had teachers who would gaslight me about not doing my homework even though I had a good reason for not doing it that even my parents backed up. I was also very alone here, which originally led to my depression. I originally blamed it on the small school but now seeing the other students in my new school I see now that it's the fellow students of SBSUM who are not welcoming. They are nice but I have been left out and abandoned by them multiple times and I ended up feeling very lonely. When it comes to sports my parents paid $200 just for me to sit on the bench every game even though my parents and I agreed that I played just as well as everyone else and there should be no reason for me to be on the bench. In conclusion, the stress, the students, feeling like you are a puppet and the staff are puppeteers, and constantly being wronged is not worth it. I have examples of the issues that I've mentioned in this review but I do not feel comfortable going into them in detail. If you want your child to have permanent marks on their wrist that they created themselves, this is where you enroll them. If you want your child to grow apart from God, this is where you enroll them. If you want your child to have mental illnesses that both teachers and students caused, this is where you enroll them.

I find the principal of the upper school to be quite an insufferable individual, often refusing to deal with situations considered of an important scale especially on topics such as blatant bullying and exceptionally problematic behavioral issues, however many of the teachers are indeed wonderful people. On a positive note however, the school does have a wonderful multicultural aspect that allows for a child to gain a more whole and worldly perspective, though you must ask yourself before sending your child here: is being in a multicultural school worth their mental health? the answer should be no, so this school is in fact a great school, BUT only up until the high school, where I would consider sending my child elsewhere.
