Our son went here for a year and i wish we would have taken him out sooner. There are good teachers (some) but the lack of care from administration is very clear. We went for their summer program only and it was the worst experience ever. Excessive exposure to screen time and limited hands on summer activities as described in their shiny program. They also have the worst admin services with the owner only interested in money, they held on to 3 months of tuition and refused to refund anything after telling me they can't keep my kid on their program. When you try to engage with the owner, she goes mute after payment. They do have some nice staff but their leadership, starting from the owner, is woeful, prioritizing money over everything else and summer program is very lame to say the least. While inquiring about this school for my child the principal made a joke that there is only bad reviews online when I mentioned reviews and that they are working on it... I won't go into details about my experience but I'll say I can fully understand why there is only horrid reviews for this school. If you're wanting your child to go somewhere where adults truly care about children and their wellbeing then I wouldn't send them here. After reading reviews on glasshouse, I see many reviews from frustrated staff and teachers about the culture there. They all said the owner doesn't care and I'll stand by that because I requested a call from her and the principal weeks ago to discuss the situation. Run! This school is a hot mess. Don't be fooled by the fake smiles, this place just wants money. From their extensive and disorganized wait lists to super sketchy business practices, peeling indoor paint & worn down playground, your kid is best off elsewhere. We had heard very mixed reviews about the school and its owner but decided to move our son because we needed just a part-time option. Meals included was nice but overall the place had a creepy & sterile feel. Then covid hit and things got SO sketchy-- I pulled my son out & they did a whole song and dance to not return our overpayment. After 3 months of back & forth excuses from them, we had to physically go there to get our refund check and even then they only gave us a tiny amount saying suddenly that the rest was only available for "future tuition." It was mid-spring and I had just been diagnosed with advanced breast cancer and had no idea how my medical treatment would unfold or how I would manage care for my child. I connected with Kipling in May and was informed the next opening would be in late August. I was unaware of what my health and treatment would look like in 3.5 months. Nonetheless, Kipling insisted I commit that day, complete with a month's tuition pre-paid, citing an extensive waiting list and low chance of a future opening. Confused, scared, and desperate, I agreed. After a grueling few months, I realized that the scheduled chemotherapy and invasive surgery would make it impossible to make the 30-minute round-trip drive to Kipling twice every day. By sheer luck, a spot opened up at the daycare in my neighborhood. I contacted Kipling immediately and offered them my schedule, doctor's orders, medical documentation, whatever they needed to receive the refund necessary to secure a spot at the neighborhood daycare. Based on their previously reported demand and the serious nature of my condition, I hoped that they would be compassionate enough to work with me. They refused. They even chose to keep the $75 charged for a door fob that was never given to me. I was frankly appalled at the time. Now, after meeting so many other women in my shoes: mothers who struggle to balance cancer and family care, and the demand that puts on their finances, I feel compelled to share my experience. read more

This school is top notch. I provide exra-curricular music to preschools all over Houston so I see all kinds of environments. Kipling Schools are the cleanest preschools I have EVER been in.... The staff is very personal, professional, and friendly. Teacher turn over is low and all the teachers seem very happy to engage the children with love and attentiveness. read more

Very thankful to have chosen Kipling for our 6 month old. The teachers are loving and enthusiastic. As a first time mom, dropping him off at daycare was really difficult but knowing he spends the day there lets me focus at work. They do a lot of tummy time, circle time, and love him. Kipling: A false promise of good care and education for your child. Do not be fooled by the long wait list. I wish someone had warned us. Our child was only briefly enrolled in Kipling. We quickly realized several negative factors about this school: 1. Low caliber of teachers and education: rapid turnover, all teachers we spoke with had been there for 1 month. Children were ignored in the classroom, sitting in a corner, not being stimulated or engaged with and not referred to by their name but as "this one and that one". 2. Unsanitary conditions: children purposely left with soiled diapers as changing time was not until 2 hours later. Overall unsanitary conditions of class. 3. Lack of communication/ responsiveness: it is impossible to get in touch with the director at this school and the staff is generally unable/unwilling to answer any questions related to your child. 4. Most importantly, the way this school is run is a reflection of its administration. Jennifer Pierce is not a good person and she DOES NOT care about the well being or education of the children in the school. We have personally had very unpleasant interactions with her, and I now know these experiences have been shared by many other parents. Personally, I am concerned to have such an inhumane person involved in the education of the children in our community We enrolled our child in another school inside the 610 loop. Both classes my child was in had very high teacher turnover. Teacher to child ratio was never as advertised; several times I saw 1 teacher with approx. 10 kids. When kids play outside, on many occasions they did not have water readily available despite the very hot temps and kids asking for water. The Director of the school, Jennifer Pierce, acts like a bully!!! She will not listen to parent concerns, but instead threatens to kick your child out of the school. I have email correspondence from her where she attacks me personally though she knows nothing about me. After a child was run over in the parking lot of Kipling Street Academy, she emailed parents threatening them to not talk about it unless they wanted their child's teachers fired. Teachers are wonderful and caring, but the Dictator, I mean, Director, is reason enough to avoid this school. read more

Amazing school! Both of my kids go there, 5 years old and 2 years old. Facilities are top notch, new and clean. I have one kid in Floyd building and one in Elementary building, both principals are amazing. Administrative staff is efficient, helpful, kind and always willing to help. Curriculum is high level, teachers are not only excellent but kind and loving. Our 5 year old has been there since preK so we have had more than one teacher and they have all been amazing. My 2 year old loves going there too. My daughter says she loves her school and never wants to go somewhere else. While there she has the opportunity of not only do academic but also extra curriculum classes like piano, golf and science. read more

The school offers foreign language (French and Spanish), theatre, art, and chorus during the school day. They also have a dedicated writing and grammar program, which you do not find in many schools. Our son is in one of the toddler rooms and he is thriving. We put him on the waitlist when I was 6 months pregnant and was on the waitlist in total 18 months. He was 15 months old when he started school. I've found it's very difficult to get an infant in to any school unless a sibling is there already. We ended up hiring a private nanny for the first 14 months of his life which I think ended up working out better because he had 1:1 care and never got sick. Obviously once he went into a group environment he was sick right away. I think that's just unavoidable. It was a rough start the first 2 months but winter concluded and his immune system rebounded. The classroom is very clean and the teachers are constantly wiping toys and surfaces with disinfectant. Our child loves the activities and teachers. The teachers are so loving and caring. We check the class camera from time to time and we are always pleased to see how they are interacting with him. He asks to go to school every morning and I see why. He is changed 3 times a day on schedule and then extra if he needs it. He has NEVER come home with diaper rash. He is always clean and very happy when we pick him up. Some reviews do talk about a high teacher turnover which we have experienced but I believe they left for personal reasons. In our class there is 3 teachers per 13 kids and so far we have lost 2 teachers. One moved home to Dallas and the other was leaving childcare. I truly hope the teachers are treated properly because they are top notch. They appear happy but I understand caring for 13 toddlers is back breaking work. We are so grateful to the teachers and our immediate administration who is responsive and professional. We've never met the owner who also gets some negative reviews so I can't speak to that. Our experience has been very positive and our child is engaged and happy and loves being with his teachers and attending school. His language and socials skills have really soared. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I put down my deposit when I was 12 weeks pregnant and was told the waitlist was about 4 months long (plenty of time before birth and maternity leave end). Don't waste your time getting on their waitlist if you are looking for infant care!We toured the facility and asked about their waitlist. Courtney Reif, who gave us the tour told us that she can't give us an exact number of people on the waitlist but since we were 6 months out it was likely we would get into infant care. After we paid the non refundable deposit of $150, we called the school and they told us we were #238 which means they knew we had no chance of getting into infant care!Courtney did not share this information even though we asked several times during the tour until they received our non refundable deposit. They are extremely deceitful and dishonest and I wouldn't want my child being educated by a business that runs this way! read more

Lo and behold it is June and he's still 180 something on the wait list and they tell me they can't give me a timeline of when he will get in. Basically, he's never going to get in. This is a fantastic school if you can actually get through the waitlist into one of their coveted spots. We love the care and learning our daughter receives. The staff is always timely with addressing issues, and return calls and emails quickly. The classrooms are clean, teaching assistants well dressed and very nice to parents and children, and the facility is top notch. My son is enrolled at Kipling (new bldg - early childhood development) and our experience has been nothing short of phenomenal! All of the lead teachers (from my experience) are certified with years of experience. The teachers really care about the children, their development and well being. I had a few issues/concerns initially but the director rectified those issues immediately. We've attended school at one of their competitors and had an awful experience. Beware that the wait list at Kipling is long but it was well worth the wait. My son is extremely happy here and thriving! He often cries when I pick him up as he wants to stay and play with his friends and teachers longer. Love this school and the wonderful staff members! read more

Amazing school. Both of our children attend The Kipling School and Kipling Elementary. Cannot say enough about how amazing and caring the teachers and staff are. My son is there is 2nd grade and has been there since he was 18 months. My daughter is 3 and has been there since 5 months. LOVE it. And so excited they are building a middle school. We were at Kipling for several years & it was great in the early years, soon after it originally opened, but has gone downhill. It used to be new & clean. Now the toys & books in the classrooms are all falling apart. The playground is pathetic & a mud pit. There's been a ton of turnover in teachers & the quality has gone downhill as well. The thing that bothers me the most is the Director - she is awful. There is zero communication and she is not open to suggestions from the parents or teachers. When she does communicate her emails are completely unprofessional. I think she is rude to her staff. The girls in the front office put on a good front/smile but have absolutely no power to do or say anything. We have moved our children & have found much better care for them. I'm actually upset we stayed there as long as we did. There are truly loving childcare environments out there - find one of them & avoid this place! read more

Good school for toddlers not good for infants. My toddler was on the wait list for two years so when our spot opened, we thought it would be great to move from competitor to here (the wait-list makes you think the place is awesome). Our daughter (toddler) did well even though she had a lot of teacher turnover (4+ in one year). When our son started (infant), we were constantly having issues with cradle cap / skin. When discussing with the owner - her response is always "if you don't like it, we are probably not the school for you." She really never tried to help us. She has a lot of arrogance due to the wait-list and she knows she has leverage over parents. In the end, she got tired of our complaints and gave us 5 days notice to leave for both children. One thing to note is that we were always fighting cradle cap with our son while he was at Kipling (due to him scratching his head), once he was in a new daycare, the issues all went away within one week. The teachers basically don't allow him to scratch his head and now its gone and not an issue at all. This opened my eyes to the care he was provided at Kipling. read more

We only took a tour, but I left with such a horrible impression I felt I had to warn others. There didn't seem to be any formal organization - it just felt haphazard and poorly thought out in such an extreme way that I was concerned a child would become lost or hurt. The director, who gave me a tour, was more concerned about her child than the general safety and well being of all the other children - while on a tour with a prospective family. What happens when the doors are closed? Children were poorly supervised while outside, teachers coming and going, and inside didn't seem any better. I saw an infant napping in a bouncer chair and when the teacher saw I noticed she snatched him out of the chair so fast his head snapped back with such force it made me tear up. I will say the facility is nice and new, and it seemed to be very clean. However, I'd take a swamp with sweet, caring and attentive adults over this place. We only took a tour and didn't enroll so take this review with a grain of salt. read more

wish I could give them 0 star. they opened a new building and they hired almost ANYONE even with zero experience with kids just because they were in rush! I wasted my deposit, first month tuition and a lot of time waiting for them to accept my child, and we eneded up in a class with teachers who had no idea about a kid's needs under 2 year! I saw on camera they forced the childeren to sit still in a row almost all the time (except for a short time independent play). those kids were all sitting all day in their age that need to be active!!! no room decoration or what so ever! if you want your child to be Awefully deciplined and be inactive and depressed, this is the place for you.just leave the child there, let her cry all day and be sure she will return home only ALIVE. I felt sorry for all kids in that depressed room. glad I took mine out in first week. you don't notice all this crap policy and teaching methods when you just get a tour or read the reviews. luxury cars in the parking at the morning tells that childeren from wealthy families come here! poor them though. I warn you if you care about your child happiness and spirit, pay attention to the teachers "resume" and room atmospher and most importantly your child reaction when you take her to these ugly small CLASS/ prison! read more

My child has been at Kipling since 2012 and we love it. The teachers and administrators are very committed to the success of each child, the excellent teacher-to-student ratio gives every child the opportunity to build a strong relationship with the teachers and to flourish academically, the academic standards are rigorous, and the staff is very approachable and responsive about any concerns. Plus there are wonderful "extras" like chef-prepared snacks and lunches that are healthy, real food as well as fun extracurriculars like piano/martial arts/hula hooping/dance/golf/etc. I love that my child is so excited to go to school every day and my husband loves reviewing his standardized test scores every year. As a bonus, the school is wonderful with managing students' food allergies. Kipling was one of the only schools I toured that made me feel comfortable with their food allergy management policies, and they have kept my severely allergic child safe for many years. read more
